I believe this is classified as entertainment-related but correct me if I’m wrong! Which characters would you most like to see revitalized (if any)? A Lois Lane movie could actually be pretty dope.

King Kong the character is already functionally in the public domain. They forgot to renew the copyright on the novelization of the movie back in the 70s so the book and thus the character is public domain. You just can’t call him King Kong because the book only ever calls him Kong. It’s why the recent Godzilla v Kong movies never call him King Kong.

Looking over the graphic timeline, it strikes me that humans haven’t come up with many new iconic characters in my lifetime. Everything pop culture is basically 100 years old at this point? Can we just get over Batman and Superman eventually? Or will it take the copyright running out for us to officially run them into the ground?

    4. I like it, two that come to mind for next year – 2027: Dick Tracy, The Shadow (from the Pulps).

Oh, the original Vision from Marvel Mystery Comics. There will be a ton of golden age characters available soon. Though DC owns most of them.

    5. If they held off on Secret Wars for another 8 years we could have had Superman show up

    6. Can’t wait for that popeye horror movie to have a sequel featuring Bluto and wimpy.

Oh Gandalf the horror movie: Non Shall Pass!
