Hallelujah has sadly been murdered. Around the time it was frankensteined into a Christmas song was when it became unbearable.

Leonard Cohen died around the first time Trump was elected. Kate McKinnon, who played Hilary Clinton on SNL, did a cold open after it was announced that Trump had won performing Hallelujah on piano.
