As a big fan of the guardians of the galaxy movies, I was excited for gunn to take over DC. I thought his superman movie was not good though. Its arguably the worst superman movie. I don’t have high hopes for this one.

    2. So are we ready to collectively move on from this like 20 years at least of superhero movie adaptions?

I’m seeing this in 9 hours time. I’m not excited by the news that it doesn’t share much of the visual beauty that the comic this is based on has.

      The Metro is a tabloid.

If you’re getting your reviews from them or any other rag like the nypost—you’re a full kit wanker lol

this movie may get mixed reviews but who gives a shit about the metro lmao

    5. I love the shit out of Milly Alcock as Supergirl. Plays it to a T. But there’s no acting your way out of a bad script. It’s not her fault and she’s going to catch a disproportionate level of the hate, which is annoying.

    6. I knew it as soon as the style of marketing they’re doing started.

It’s a pity as the cast seems pretty good and writing let’s it down.

I love all the Guardians movies. They were a a great change of pace and style in the MCU. A entire universe of Gunn’s distinctive style and flavor of storytelling is going to get old quickly.

    8. I’m seeing this tomorrow and I hope I’m sufficiently entertained

I did like the comic though

People also said so much shit about superman and yet look how that went when the movie came out, I’m not believing anything until I see it for myself, and even then I haven’t forgotten how biased the “snyderbros” were, everything will be bad to them even if it’s an actual masterpiece if it’s not from Snyder it won’t be good enough

Still seeing it but after obsession idk what movie will hit me like that.i know not the same genre but still.

    11. Yikes, I had high hopes for this movie, and I still will watch it, but it was already teetering on the edge of box office failure before it even opened, and these reviews are going to kill it deader.

Im not surprised, the trailer just didnt look good

Peacemaker season 2 sucked too, did not make me feel excited to watch more DC

So this tracks with my expectations, a solid mid movie

I feel like this is one of those obvious things that is treated like a controversial take, but it seems a critical mass of people making superhero movies are deeply neglectful when it comes to writing and editing female-led films.

Has there been a single decent one that wasn’t due to a Herculean acting lift by a very talented actor? I liked Florence Pugh in Black widow… but that movie came out AFTER BLACK WIDOW WAS CANONICALLY DEAD… it just feels like they do not put the same effort into female-led films, and use the bad reception as an excuse to put minimal effort into the future ones too. *“Idk they just don’t like women!” the writers say after Wonder Woman 3.*

It looks really stupid. Does the whole thing revolve someone poisoning her dog? I’m not anti woke or whatever it is that’s mad about a female lead, the plot just looks beyond dumb.

Last years Superman was a serviceable/mediocre comic book movie. It just had some very vocal fans who gaslit people into thinking that it was great. I have no doubt this will be similar.

    16. Who asking for a super girl movie? Really?!? These franchises have been beat to death.

Every review I’ve read shitting on this was written by a guy, I haven’t seen one written by a woman yet. I’m going to see the movie anyway but I wonder if this is another She Hulk or The Marvels, which I enjoyed a great deal compared to the moaning about it.
