Pat Houston REACTS to Oprah’s Claims About Whitney Houston Relapse and Stage Fall (Exclusive)

Whitney Houston’s sister-in-law, Pat Houston — who now oversees the late singer’s estate — speaks exclusively with ET’s Kevin Frazier, pushing back on Oprah Winfrey’s bombshell claims at Cannes Lions. The talk show icon told a crowd at the annual festival, Whitney relapsed before performing on her show back in 2009, resulting in a fall off the stage, which Oprah pleaded with the audience to keep a secret… until now. Prior to this chat, Pat fired back online, writing to fans that Whitney’s stumble was during a sound check and had nothing to do with her addiction battle; instead, Pat blames the literal misstep on bad lighting. She says she’s only engaging in this back and forth to protect her late sister-in-law’s legacy, noting if Whitney had been high during the performance, she would be the first to say so.

    1. I didn't realize how destructive Mammy Oprah has been to Black women. She may donate to various charitable causes and people (tax write-offs); however that does not negate or excuse her destructive and ill treatment of Black women. Her self-hatred and insecurities have made her a rich tyrant. 🤬🍿🍷⚖️

    2. Was Oprah high when she fell in the MIDDLE of a stage? Would she want people to bring up her bad points at her death. Oprah has 40 years of public life, lots of pratfalls to choose from. Oprah is putting bad seeds in the ground.

    3. For sure Oprah is on drugs herself now! For her to come out and say something like that is outrageous what a back stabbing cruel person she is.

    4. Whitney did not look high to me at all during that performance. She actually looked better than she did when Oprah interviewed her weeks earlier .
Low of Oprah to come and say this now. What a fake horrible woman

    5. I’m not a fan of Oprah and the way she exploits people for ratings. I saw the show and I thought Whitney was glorious. A Queen. Regarding the cousin-she’s not being truthful or maybe doesn’t know every moment of Whitney’s life. What she said is not true. I understand her trying to protect her legacy, but pretending doesn’t work. I saw Whitney in San Jose in 1994. She was very high, mostly talking about her man Bobby, and 70-80% of the audience-a mostly black audience- walked out before it was 1/2 way over. I could not believe it. She couldn’t sing, she couldn’t speak, her voice was nothing like Whitney. It was so sad.

    6. Even if Whitney Houston was high, why would Oprah feel the need to say anything about that matter? Michael Jackson and Toni Braxton both went on her show, and she did them both dirty after being so gracious to the former in his presence, although she was horrible to the latter in her’s! I doubt Whitney Houston was high during this performance, but somethings don’t need to be said, even if they are true

    7. Pat try again, I don’t think Oprah should have said anything however I saw Whitney in person several times even before Bobby and she was high and sweating all over the place. Also, look at the Jackson reunion show at MSG so she did go on stage high many times.

    8. "The so-called queen of daytime talk shows, Oprah Winfrey, is a hypocrite. What she did to the late Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson was pitiful. Plain and simple.

    9. Oprah should have let sleeping dogs lie. However, Pat is not telling the truth about Whitney never showing up impaired because she was fired from the 2000 Academy Awards show for repeated "issues" during the rehearsals and Burt Bacharach (who was in charge of the musical segment) told her to just leave. Look it up, it was a scandal.

    10. Oprah lied as hell. She said in 2021 that when Whitney fell on stage, she wasn't high and now Oprah is changing that version by saying she was high smhd. Even Oprah fell one day on stage? Was she high too? Smhd
