      Kashyap Patel’s girlfriend did ok for an amateur with modest talent taking on singing the anthem solo in front of an audience. She obviously does not have a good vocal range. To not crack at the top in the song, they pulled the key down for her, but that meant she struggled to produce the lower notes. She wasn’t croaking like a toad, but she was weak. Her countrified affect came in and out randomly. She struggles to stay in character, and that is what it is for her. She’s neither “country” nor a singer.

      Not a fan of this admin or Kash at all, but this seems like a huge distraction. Listen to her sing, it sounds like the national anthem on key. She doesn’t crack or change keys mid song and hits the notes.

      As anthem performances go, I’ve heard worse. It wasn’t littered with dozens of sliding grace notes that would-be country singers seem to think are a requirement when singing the anthem. But, more to the point, there was nothing “special” about her singing. Her voice is no better than that heard almost any night in a minor league ballpark featuring some local college kid with dreams of stardom. Her exaggerated (I hope) country diction is grating, and her long hold of the word “free”—especially after the band cuts off—is simply cringe-worthy showboating. Makes it quite obvious that her ticket to performing in this venue wasn’t her vocal talent but her relationship with the FBI Director, who is similarly cringe worthy in his current gig.
