Even John Mayer has a podcast? Can celebs think of any other hobby? Heck, this applies to regular people as well.
not that i would ever fly private because i’m not rich, but i see a lot of people refusing to go where other people go (even poor people) and it seems like such an annoying trait
like not attending popular events, not going to a hyped destination, avoiding full streets, missing restaurants that have waiting times, etc. and then said people cannot behave in society, like waiting in line, dealing with others’ preferences, socializing on the surface, etc. i have some relatives like this, they act like toddlers if they go, idk, to the mall and other people are there
sure, there are some concerns and inconveniences, but the feeling of being anonymous in a crowd is my favorite
if you’re going to a public place and not expecting the public to be there, it’s on you

An under-discussed aspect of the billionaire class is that they no longer have to interact with the public at all. They live on private estates, travel by private jet, receive concierge medical care, vacation in exclusive enclaves, and can insulate themselves from everyday people whose lives they impact.
That level of separation has profound consequences. We need to find ways to force them back into public life, starting with a 300% private plane tax every time it takes off.

One of the Disney heiresses spoke out about private jet usage at one point too. I remember her calling it selfish and disconnected from reality. Pretty sure she stopped doing it after she was informed of the impact on the environment.

I have been sad-vibing to slow dancing in a burning room as much as the next person, but I never really followed John Mayer as a celebrity as in see his pics or follow his socials etc. The fact that he looks like such an adorable, huggable nerd in cosy sweaters and glasses, is so surprisingly charming. I’m sorry if he is an awful person in reality and I don’t know, just commenting on his cute aesthetic. Like l this is the look of a guy I would love to date.

It’s so funny to me when washed up celebrities have no other option after their career goes flat but to make a shitty podcast. So detached from the real world.
I’m surprised that no one is mentioning the security issue for women though? I understand his sentiment, but it is so much easier for him to do it than someone like Taylor Swift or honestly any rich female celebrity because there is a target on their back. Having to go through security and open themselves up to additional scrutiny, as well as their numerous stalkers is just simply not safe nor would it be easy for people to navigate around them if they happen to be flying out at the same time.
I understand the hatred in some ways because I know the overall impact is crazy, but I just want to point out that there is a women versus men dynamic here too
This man is my number 2 favorite person after Dolly Parton. What a great example of a good human.
Also, on average, commercial aviation is still the safest form of air travel. Compared to private, it has more layers of safety regulations. Because of this, even if I had the money I’d still fly commercial.
Just get Pre-TSA check, fly first class, and opt for the first class lounge and you can have a really nice commercial air travel experience.

I love Conan.
I couldn’t believe how expensive private flights are. My stepmom’s sister is pretty well off but not billionaires or anything. They flew private to come home from a vacation once for an emergency and I somehow got wind of the price. Yeah Conan has a point about going broke.
Conan has ended up being one of my favorite celebrities. He just comes off so rational and egoless. Then again who knows.
Speaking as a fairly wealthy person who operates in a very wealthy world, all I’m seeing here is people guessing what a ‘billionaire’ life must be like, then raging against their own imagination.

Conan is the best. I remember him talking about his early 90’s Ford Taurus he dubbed the “green machine”. He drove that thing until it quit. I did the same thing with my 2002 Ford Taurus!

I seen an interview where Tyler the creator talked about all the fees and expenses that comes with flying private , he said some private flights can cost you 100,000 just for a flight . He said I couldn’t spend that on a flight and would rather use that money to invest
If I had the option to always fly first class with access to the fancy lounges and priority boarding I also wouldn’t particularly mind being in the world with other travelers. 🫣
Still appreciate that he‘s not flying private even though he could.
