      I’m nervous but I actually think this will be done well! I *so* hope. I love the bell jar and could really see Billie playing Esther well. Excited to see this one!

      I think it would be super neat if we started hiring unknown actors instead of singers who have never publicly acted before. Like, Hollywood is so creatively incestuous right now and it’s killing my desire to consume art. 

      Edit: Apparently she has acted before. But I think my point still stands.

      I really loved Sarah’s book Run Toward Danger and have been thinking of her often since then. I will 100% be sat for this along with my troupe of sisters/friends/mom/daughters. How exciting !!

      I love Billie Eilish and I actually read the Bell Jar for the first time this year, and when I learned about it I was between “Oh no” and “Oh yes”. This is not an easy role…

      love the bell jar, sarah polley, and billie eilish. i am skeptical but excited. still bummed that kirsten dunst never got to direct an adaptation of the bell jar like she was supposed to.

      My biggest fear about this casting is that they are going to water down Esther and make her just sad and quirky/sexy instead of mean and insufferable to be around.

      I understand they will probably tone down or get rid of the racism but being unlikable is such an important part of the character. Mental illness isn’t pretty and it isn’t fun and often people who suffer from depression can be really hard to be around, we so rarely see this reality in movies or on TV.

      i kinda want to see Billie Eilish in a comic book movie role. She could play the marvel character Dazzler who is a pop star in the comics too

      I don’t really see Billie Eilish as Esther at all. I have big reservations about that casting.
