      This breaks my heart but sadly tracks for Eugene/Springfield. The people there deserve better.

      I really hate to see douchebags get what they want (cancelled Pride events), but I understand the need to ensure safety for everyone

      I’m confused. Is there a particular reason they filed for several permits but didn’t want to file for a parade one.

      Like I understand the fear and concern about not being protected but that aspect confused me.

      If the cops won’t defend you against assault, that’s basically permission to do it yourself. “Everyone bring your Pride bats!”

      Misleading headline! The police said they may not protect parade-goers if the organizers don’t get a PARADE PERMIT. Of course you need to get the damn permit. This is on the organizers.
