Alvarez, who attended the concert, appeared to smile at the lyric change, while audience members also spotted who they believed to be Grande’s dad acknowledging him during the moment. The updated lyric came just one day after Grande and Alvarez were seen spending time together and marked the second time she had altered the line during her Austin shows, having previously sung, “And they still really slap” on opening night.
