Multiple images of the confederate flag were displayed in the North Carolina pavilion of the “Great American State Fair.”

    1. Disgusting. I’m reminded of this scene from SpongeBob

The confederate flag is not American history and has no place being displayed in celebrations of our history. This would be like Germans having Nazi flags at their national celebrations. The Confederacy is a stain on American history, not a part of our cultural heritage.

Symbol of losers and literally anti-American

But they just love their racism that much.

    4. Is anyone surprised? The USA is an unabashedly racist country and always has been.

What exactly was the point of the State Fair?

north carolina republicans just overrode a bill that our governor had vetoed, which now gives state police authority to play ICE and no longer allows for state colleges to be sanctuaries from ICE. also we haven’t had a state budget since FY24-25 somehow bc these rat bastards in office refuse to do their jobs, so unfortunately this tracks !

I always think of that Neal Brennan bit where he talks about how it makes no sense when people display the Confederate and American flags together:

*I don’t think people in the South understand the Confederate flag. People in the South on the same truck will have the Confederate flag and the American flag. Having both flags on the same truck is like a woman having two tattoos: “What’s this one for?” She’s, like, “This one is to commemorate my love for my husband Steve.” “How about this one?” “This one commemorates the time I tried to escape from Steve.”*

NC chose not to participate and our governor has demanded the confederate flag be removed. From what I’ve heard it has been but I’m not certain. 10 states didn’t participate because it costs money so those states’ displays were at the mercy of private organizations who sponsored each one.

The Confederacy was 4 years—that’s it. It was a blip in time. All the racist people who claim it’s their “heritage” are ridiculous. We have non-perishable foods that can last longer than the Confederacy did.

We took my kid to Duke for some treatment. The day before his procedure we went to the NC museum. Looking around I asked my wife “what’s up with all this confederate shit, are we in the south?”.

Then I found an exhibit that said some thing to the effect of “when the emancipation proclamation was signed, they continued to fight in Durham”. If I remember correctly it was the last battles of the civil war. Lol you mfrs love that slave labor.
