    1. Perfect timing, I was just looking for a way to spend an hour. Always love your videos no matter the topic, you have a great narrative voice and pace!

    2. Although you claim to be geeky, you FAIL to acknowledge Orc Dragon Troll Warg Slaying enchanted weaponry crafted in those Valinor or 1st 2nd age smithing, do you not think such items were never created?? Tisk tisk Sir!🙄

    3. So Morgoth made artificial creatures (stone trolls, metal dragons) as well as mutated creatures he could enhance with his own power (Carcharoth, normal dragons). Almost sounds like scifi. And Sauron and Saruman, despite 'improving' on the orc, never came close to Morgoth's greatest creations. It's like a postapocalypse story where people are clinging to what little technology is left.

    4. "The Great Worm". This gives us a seed. An indea as to WHAT Morgoth created Dragons from. What type of "Worm" were Dragons mutated from? Perhaps "Worm" is just a descriptor as to the fasion & motion of these beasts. Maybe 'Snake' would be a more accurate base for manipulation. But the use of the specific word "Worm" should, maybe, be taken at it's word. Dragons are worms….horribly mis-shapen & distorted. To a point totaly unrecognizable from what they were at their begining.

    5. I love how everyone calls him "Smough", when I always call him "Smug" or "Smog". That is how I always read it. "Smug" always seemed to fit his character to me.

    6. As a side note, and I think worthy of an expanded video of it's own. Only Men KILL DRAGONS! Turin: Glaurung, Earendil: Ancalagon the Black, Fram: Scatha the Worm, Bard: Smaug. In Tolkien's world…only Men kill dragons.

    7. There is evidence that some dragons fled to Rhun, where the Blue Wizards managed to untwist their natures and breed them to become guardians. Of course, as the ages passed, they shrank in stature and ability until they were eventually mistaken for lizards, whereupon they would defensively point out that they did not do "that tongue thing."

    8. The biggest misconception is that dragons disappear after Smaug; Tolkien explicitly leaves room for lesser dragons surviving into the Fourth Age.
