    1. I will be pleasantly surprised if this is a good film, but – bearing in mind this is a trailer – it does not seem in keeping with the tone, substance, and depth of the source material. Less Kazuo Ishiguro's "Klara and the Sun", more a "Taika Waititi film based on Klara and the Sun".

    2. God, I sure hope it turns out to be a deeper dramedy, and that they’re just trying to market it as a comedy. Having said that, Jojo Rabbit was full of comedy and devastating moments. I will contend that perhaps the trailer makers are vibing more in the side of humour and sci-fi instead of the devastating dramatic beats… fingers crossed, praying to the sun.

    3. as someone who's never heard of the author let alone read the book, i clicked the thumbnail because the composition, lighting, and typesetting was so captivating. not surprised at all to learn that it's directed by taika waititi, whatever he does that gives his films that recognizable Look even though it's subconscious is brilliant movie-making. ortega is grest casting for a naive android, her expression is also what made me check out this trailer.

genuinely i feel for readers who lament that it might not be the adaptation they were hoping for, but as a third party i think at the very least this looks like an awesome film separate from that. this also isnt to try and dismiss concerns of fans of the author and the book, i just think viewing the film as a film and not an adaptation is also a valuable perspective to have, particularly when discussing film adaptations!

    4. Taiki Watiti sucks 🤢🤮🤮 first he was working on an Akira adaptation (thank jesus that fell through) then he's working on a star wars project absolutely nobody wants. And now this…🤢 I love boosters looks 800 times better than this trite pretentious garbage 🤮 plus I can't stand Natasha Lyone and her whole "Jewish grandma smokers voice" shtick

    5. Im so excited i loved the book it does feel a little different tone wise but this is only a teaser we dont know what that full movie will be like and even if it isn't such a melancholy the movie looks like itll be fantastic regardless some times you need to shut off the source material and rnjoy a new take on a story

    6. I think we need to analyse KATS better here: the book is melancholic only because we perceive it as that, but Klara has always seen the world through a child's pov almost, we know it's a sad grim world the one she lives in and we see it even through her filter, but she doesn't. From what I see from this trailer, the movie seems to align with Klara's approach to life, which is very much optimistic. Also, this is about the first half of the book, so we'll see what happens with the full movie when it's out.

    7. Klara worshipping the sun instead of the one who actually made her… I cannot help but see the parallel between us and the Lord. HE created our inmost being (Psalm 139), lived and died for us (John 3:16-21) and yet we will worship ANYTHING, but Him. A singer, influencer, food, drugs, our phones, a relationship, just anything, but complete surrender to the one who knows us best and knows the best for us ✝️

    8. I am a huge Jenna Ortega fan, and it's weird seeing her smile. Yes, I know she's played other roles, but I bring this up because, as Wednesday, she never smiles, rarely shows anger, and probably wouldn't even talk to you if she decided you weren't worth her attention.

There was a great scene in Wednesday where she frees her uncle. There's a zombie in the room, shouting and snarling, yet she walks in without even acknowledging that it's there. There's no fear on her face at all. She walks straight over, frees her uncle, and leaves as if the zombie wasn't even worth noticing. I remember thinking how badass that scene was.

    9. It's not quite how I pictured it in my head, but the trailer also looks like it's missing the entire theme of the book. The tone is completely off!

    10. ok but like why is noone talking about how dystopian and strange the concept of artificial friends (AI) is especially when given consciousness and the flow-on effects of that (dgaf tho super excited to buy one) also dgaf about the directors its a movie bro

    11. Wow…It's like watching the movie A.I. but the whole presentation was phoned in.

"At SONY We just don't give a shit anymore…really, honestly we just can't be bothered."

Do not spend money to watch this crap remake go back and watch A.I. instead.
