> It really just comes about because James loves to have his friends and family around him all the time. It’s hard to make movies; it’s lonely. You’re stuck in like a place that’s not your home for a very long period of time. He’s made great friends with a lot of the crew that he’s been able to continue working with over and over again, luckily, because they keep trying to pull us out of the United States, but fortunately we keep getting to stay.

The bigger thing about this is that while it is not as common, production posses used to be a thing a lot of actors like Stephen Chow, Adam Sandler and the Wayans bros. would keep their immediate circles clear so that it is just easier to make the movie on your own terms. It’s not a bad principle.

Same as Sandler; scamming companies and double dipping/helping friends steal money they don’t deserve

It’s called nepotism.

Wow what breaking news! He puts his family and friends in his movies because he likes being around them. Shocker.

People are so weird about nepotism in Hollywood. We talk about it as if it’s the same as a boss giving their underqualified child a job but at the end of the day an actor’s worth in Hollywood is determined by their talent, not their name.
Sean Penn, Jeff Bridges, Laura Dern, George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Rob Reiner (RIP), Bryce Dallas Howard, Robert Downey Jr, (I could go on) all got their start because of their name, and the talent/success of those people alone is enough evidence to say that nepotism isn’t really a “problem”
