Via 7NEWS Australia:
“Neil the seal has returned to Seven Mile Beach, Tasmania, for his annual moult; a natural instinct of elephant seals is to return to the area they were born. Residents have captured footage of the local legend's antics including scratching himself on bollards and playing with a telephone booth.
Neil has become popular with locals over the years, with a strong admiration for traffic cones and falling asleep in their front yards.”

Although it’s kinda sad, he doesn’t have any other elephant seals to roughhouse with so he does this with random objects. Also authorities keep warning people to stay away, so many people keep trying to get very close and feed him. 🙁
Remember everyone, we DO NOT WANT a repeat of Freya the walrus. She was euthanized for “everyone else’s safety” when in reality it was humans encroaching on her space, giving her things and making her more comfortable around people which inevitably caused the decision for her to get put down. I do NOT want Neil to end up the same 😭😭
I recently learned about Neal. Immediately willing to risk my life for him.
I need my feed blessed like this every single day
Neil the terror of Tasmania. Back for his bi-yearly argument with bollards, traffic cones, signs, cars and annoying people. Bless his little innocent heart.
May he long be ungovernable! Long live Neal the seal!!
He’s like a big ol cat. Napping, getting into things. Rinse and repeat.
It’s Neil’s world and we’re just living in it. 🦭
I love when Neil shows up on my Instagram. 🦭

I am envious of Neil’s ability to completely wreak havoc and they’re all just like “aw Neil, come on mate outta the way”, and Neil just yells in Elephant Seal.
As funny as it is, poor Neil doesn’t have any friends to practice roughousing with which is why he picks fights with fences and bollards. They think that his mother was a stray and gave birth in Tasmania instead of Antarctica.
“Dulcie, Kevin the seal is back on the foreshore again? So…who should I delegate that to…?”
Those scratches, self massage and naps just look so satisfying. Neil is life goals.
He’s just trying to live his best life 🥺
Loose seal??

I like his headrest pillows he use.

I love that he has annual appearances like he’s a celebrity on tour.
Who decided to build a community on his beach?
Hey buddy – you can’t park there!
