The more I see of Edward the more I lokey vibe w him. He seems very smart and intelligent and someone who truly just wants to learn and grow.

I wish someone would find out this kind of information about my family! I legitimately don’t know much about my families history outside of my great grandparents on my mom’s side and even that I don’t know much about. Hell. Nobody in my family even knows where my grandfathers dad is buried.

This show is honestly one of the best ways to learn about American History. It’s enlightening to see how interconnected (through equally terrible and beautiful and ambiguous ways) we are. America is complicated, most of us were never supposed to be here. I don’t know how HLG Jr and team keep turning out mind blowing episode after all these years.
The saddest story ever. Matoaka was kidnapped and taken to England then died before she could ever return to see her family ever again. That was after she was kidnapped as a child. BTW, she was like 12 when she met John Smith (blonde guy in Disney movie). She was NOT in love with him. Its guessed they were just friends. John Rolfe is a different guy.

What people are getting wrong here is that I am also a descendant from one of the founders of america.But that makes up a large number of people and doesn’t mean you have any power or influence at all. Despite being directly descended from one of the most famous pilgrims in american history I have no power, no privilege, no money.
Now, on the other side of it, the power and privilege is passed from generation to generation.But only to certain people.So just because you’re related to these people doesn’t mean you’re in on the power and influence game
Would be fun if I became famous enough to get one of these videos and they went “incredible, every single one of your ancestors was an Irish dirt farmer of no noteworthiness”
I love Finding Your Roots! And Who Do You Think You Are?, the British show with a similar premise. I highly recommend them to any history buffs out there.Â
