Aaron Sorkin wrote a monologue in The American President that sums up my feelings on the manner pretty well:

*”The symbol of your country cannot just be a flag. The symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising her right to burn that flag in protest.”*

Unless you live in a dictatorship, your government should hold up to robust criticism. That’s the whole point of having an official opposition in parliament.

Spot on. He’s absolutely well within his rights to do so. Love The Boss.

Never in the history of the United States have we ever had a president who regularly insults and belittles common citizens. Call or bullying. Call it petty. I call his conduct trashy.

Standing up to a bully is absolutely patriotic.

    4. He’s right. Avoiding fealty and instead always demanding America be better, is what the founding fathers intended.

    5. Thanks, Bruce. We have at least one brave singer to speak out against the power.

A real patriot holds his country to a high standard and wants it to be as good as it can. Why would we settle for less?

A true patriot will defend his country from its government.
