Let victims recover how they see fit. Sexual assualt and abuse are life altering. The memory can stay stuck in your mind and on your body for a very long time. Sometimes recovery doesnt look how people want it to, and as long as no one else is harmed and involved they should be able to do so.

    2. Thats dark. But humor really is the best medicine. Glad she’s making the best of a horrible situation and completely rocking it.

Yo Sam Tallent is an awesome stand up if you guys have never heard of him. Pretty awesome that he’s helping this up and comer out with her special. Respect to him. Respect to her too for turning her trauma into some pretty funny albeit dark bits. Will definitely be checking her special out.

And people think we don’t like offensive or dark humor now? I love this.

    5. I have my own comedy bit in my head over trauma and I’m thrilled to see someone using dark humor for their own benefit. If that’s your flavor, it really can help! I even add my interests to make it funnier to me.

Props to working out the trauma through laughing. It’s not for everyone but it’s a good method / tool to get it out of your body and de-stigmatize the mind.Ā

Just a slight correction, she was not a gymnast, she was a cheerleader (gymnastics adjacent). I’m watching her comedy special, it’s really dark but also SO GOOD.

I hope she’s doing as well as she’s able to, what she went through really messes people up (understatement of the year).

could tell she’s funny from the clip, but if sam tallent is platforming it then that seals it

My sister was a survivor of his. She was a dancer. She unfortunately passed a few years ago but she would have totally loved this. Looking forward to watching and supporting.

    11. Crazy how no one laughed on the “and if the answer is no…” when the implication of that short pause was absolutely bonkers šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ I love dark humor so much

She was my waitress a few times a few years ago and I remember her being so nice

    13. The amount of Americans that think you’re lucky when you get a settlement or payout is absolutely insane. They easily look past the lifetime of pain, trauma and PTSD as a easy trade to be a multi millionaire.

Capitalism got people’s priorities MESSED up.

    14. I love it when people can use comedy as a way to heal. I know that’s gotta be cathartic for her.

    15. I laughed and then I felt awful for laughing and then I kept laughing so …
