      Most people haven’t read it unless they went to college. She had a career before she graduated elementary. It’s okay, Zendaya. It’s okay. 🤣

      Fair enough, I honestly doubt most people have read it. And based off the trailer/costumes/cast it doesn’t look like they’re sticking all that much to the overall historical culture of the book / time period.

      Not a single one of the cast members looks very Greek at all to me, or even Mediterranean, the costumes look to be almost medeival, and the armor in so many cases just looks straight up plastic like, and the ships seem to be replicas of Viking longships. These are just kinda little nitpicks of mine overall and I doubt that the audience at large cares too much abt most of that stuff, plenty are just hating for the sake of hating I’d guess.

      Ouf. I’d like it to become an expectation for all actors adaptinf a text to have read some version of it to get the basic understanding. Just looks kind of shitty if you dance around the tough accountability of saying you didnt do the homework lol

      It’s one of my favorites ngl. And I didn’t read it in uni or high school, but I love anything mythology related so I actively sought out mythologies across cultures to read about.

      We had to read it in high school but I wasn’t actress at the time which surely helped to balance compulsory reads

      I loved reading the Odyssey in high school. It’s really good and compelling. Don’t sleep on it.

      The Odyssey and The Illiad are on my tbr but right now I am so burnt out on Greek mythology and legends after reading all 573745372 books of the Riordanverse.

      Similarly, despite *O Brother, Where Art Thou?* being an homage to the Odyssey, the only person on the movie who had read and studied it was Tim Blake Nelson

      I only knew about the Odyssey because of the episode of Arthur (the aadvark). I then read it in college. Never read it in HS.

      I really wish actors would just be honest and be like “I read it cause I was cast in this.” Heck I’d love a simple “nope – but I’m great in this!”

      Anyways, I learned everything I need to know about the Odyssey from everybody’s favorite literary dog Wishbone so…

      I read both of my own volition when I was a 7th grader and then had to read them again in 9th grade. I love both.

      I like O Brother Where Art Thou and my BIL’s baby shower gift to my son was The Odyssey: A Graphic Novel. That is my understanding of The Odyssey

      My ancient Greek mythology love came from Hercules and Xena. I read multiple historical fiction YA novels about the Trojan War and read both the Iliad and Odyssey in highschool. I have actually explained to multiple people while talking about this movie that the events of the Iliad are not historical. This is a mythical story, probably based on a palimpsest of a real city.

      I took AP Latin in high school and I haven’t read the Odyssey. It’s not a big deal, I promise.

      a lot of us read it in school; she read it when it became relevant to her life/work. I don’t see anything wrong with that.
