How expected. I wonder if it will still be totally her own and if she’ll be completely responsible for everything related to the app now.

Edited to account for the criticisms below. I used the wrong phrase to describe the way the app was endlessly advertised earlier this year.

The headline definitely got my attention, but I’m way more interested in the details than the celebrity investor list.

    3. I’m sure she’s in huge trouble and will face major consequences.

I thought this sounded familiar. This is how all these discount browser extensions work. I guess this one is just that “but with AI” so people would invest in it

    5. Started getting barraged by Phia ads on YouTube recently, smelled “too good to be true” to me. Disappointed to see so much money invested in a fraudulent business idea.

    6. The backers are losers: racist, married into fascist family, I guess Ice is fine, and “I’ll be coy about white supremacy” SS.

    7. I only know about this because there’s a climate activist named Sophia Kianni who’s been backing this. I think she generally means well, but the whole AI elitist shopping thing with an activist co-sign has driven home the point that noteworthy activists often just become advantageous sell-outs. Shes an Ivy league grad so maybe I shouldn’t be all that surprised. Never cared about Phia but sheesh lol fraud in a billionaire funded start up is embarassing.

Yay, I’m glad to see the Gates back in the news for unethical tech business practices.

Reminds me of the good ol days

So this essentially works just like the Honey browser extension…what’s revolutionary about that and what does it have to do with AI?

How is this fraud though. I’ve used the cap one one before and it seems to do the same thing. It doesn’t affect the user of the app. Is it faking sales to the companies?

    11. Well, bill gates did say he is only leaving his kids 10 million each. Gotta fund the lifestyle somehow.

Let’s do the same scam that another app was already dragged over in a very public way! Big brain move

There’s a lot more where this came from. About time someone started blasting this sh*t.
B2B SaaS is a cesspool of this kind of stuff.

    14. Didn’t honey already do this? They couldn’t even come up with their own scam lol

So Bill Gates daughter saw the Honey controversy and decided to do just that?

I used to have this extension on my laptop, but whenever I would use DoorDash on my Chrome browser, it would suddenly start spam opening dozens of DoorDash tabs (even before I was checking out). Took me weeks to figure out it was this. Guess I know why.

Also, their marketing was lowkey crazy because while the concept of “find a cheaper alternative to some piece of clothing you like” is good, they were marketing it by saying: “Look at this $1500 Dior bag- we can find it for the low low price of $700! Isn’t that a steal?” Always made me cringe a bit.

Can we bring this energy to Bill? I need to see his ass get questioned
