Britney Spears opened up on Instagram, citing Christina Aguilera as an example of freedom, and said she would have liked to have had the same autonomy during the period she was under conservatorship

The amount of crap Britney has been put through the years including and especially by the media is unforgivable. She was a victim, of her own family, the industry – so many failed her. And yet she was vilified and humiliated. Men who commit actual crimes and deserve to be dragged through the coals dont get what she did.

    2. The way her life turned out completely breaks my heart. The world should’ve taken better care of her. I hope she finds peace and happiness somewhere along the way ❤️

    3. Xtina got thrown down the stairs by her father as a child, and constantly witnessed him beating up her mom. Her mom picked up their car, put her in it and drove away not knowing where to go. She talked about it constantly and how much she struggled with her childhood abuse, and wrote one of the best songs i’ve ever heard in my life named “I’m OK” from her album Stripped.

She was also one of the FIRST people to talk about Free Britney before the movement was even a thing (2021).

I GET what Britney meant there, and I’m sorry she had to go through that, but leave Xtina alone cause she’s earned her freedom after years of industry abuse and after her dad died.

Am I the only one who flinches every time her name is in a headline?

    5. This is not the first time she has alluded to being a slave.

Britney has alluded to being a slave, being trafficked, being sex trafficked multiple times in the last few years.

Poor Britney. I just want her to be able to disappear from public consciousness and go live her life and be happy and experience the world somewhere people won’t hound her.

And therapy. I want her to have lots of therapy and help to process all the trauma and develop healthy boundaries.

    7. The only celebrities that we have turned on that have actually deserved it have been the pedophile and predator class of men making victims of those that trusted them.

Brittney didn’t deserve our ridicule. Janet didn’t deserve our ridicule. The great Amy Winehouse didn’t deserve our ridicule. The (formerly Dixie) Chicks didn’t deserve our ridicule.

Our obsession with how our favorite artists live their lives is weird, unhealthy, and it destroys these beautiful souls that only ever wanted to share their art with us. We can do better as fans and I hope we continue to.

    8. I was listening to some interviews with Jodie Foster recently and she spoke very eloquently about realizing her own power at a very early age. Her work schedule in the 70s was horrendous and she was clearly being exploited by her family, but she learned she had control over what happened to her and how she was treated on set. I’m paraphrasing her words here – but without that realization so many child stars go insane or become drug addicts.

Ive always thought Aguilera’s overall styling was a little harsh, but in hindsight it’s kind of served as a suit of armor. She could take off the layers of makeup and spray tan and go out in public and no one would recognize her.

    9. I have a friend that deals with major mental health and addiction issues, and this post reads very similarly to some of the texts I get when she isn’t doing well. Los of reflection on a bad past and, usually, not enough sleep. I hope Britney can live the quiet life she deserves.

    10. I feel sorry for her. She needs help. A serious, professional help from a doctor.

    11. I agree that Britney has been through a lot but we’ve seen the most recent videos of her drinking and driving. Whatever happened to her she needs to seek therapy and take accountability for herself now that she’s free from the conservatorship.
