Mayor Zohran Mamdani said in a new interview that his wife, Rama Duwaji, won’t take on a formal First Lady role, emphasising that her focus is her own career as an artist. He added that she “deserves to be known in her own right” rather than through his political office.

I can’t believe they met on Hinge 😭 where does one find single, ambitious, progressive men? 🥲
My friends often say they want to delete dating apps but the ending line is always “but there might be a Zohran mamdani there…”
He’s a beautiful man
That’s absolutely right. He’s a great husband!
Why, can I not meet someone like him. What have I done in life to be a single cat lady.
I feel like this is appropriate. In 2026 do we really need a spouse role of hostess that is unpaid ? You want someone to do diplomacy, and welcoming guests, pay that person and make it a job. Being a political wife is 1950s bs.
What a monster. (/s)
Rama is a fucking babe and so goddamn cool. Love them
I’m an aquarius to a tee and don’t want a man in my home…but i’d make an exception for a zohran mamdani type 🔥
Ugh, I love them.
If this power couple doesn’t have bisexual fans, then I’m dead (respectfully)
Stuff like this is how we dismantle the patriarchy. These little things are in fact massive and go a long way to shifting perception of women and their role in relationships and politics.
He’s adorable!
good, I genuinely can’t stand when a “first spouse” has some kind of manufactured role with their elected official partner’s staff (or worse yet, if they help make actual decisions). Americans were very lucky with Eleanor Roosevelt, but at the end of the day these folks were not elected. They should be living their lives (acknowledging that they will realistically be on camera every now and then) as privately as possible.
First Ladies (or Gentlemen) should be paid, period. If they choose to formally take on those positions and all the work and time they entail, they should be getting a public servant’s salary.
I actually love this like she clearly support him and shows up for the big events in the city and is involved in the politics and initiatives when she can but he’s 200% right she deserves to exist outside of politics as her own person.
