Sam Neill, Jurassic Park Star, Dead at 78

After a miraculous recovery from cancer years ago, Sam Neill’s family confirms the iconic New Zealand actor is dead at the age of 78. ‘Sam was surrounded by family and passed with the dignity that has characterized his whole life,’ they shared in a statement announcing the news. ‘The loss was sudden and unexpected, but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer free.’ Launching onto the acting scene in the ’70s, Sam broke through in 1981 with ‘Possession,’ before the ’90s skyrocketed him to movie stardom with awards-loved performances in films like ‘The Piano,’ and franchise fare like ‘Jurassic Park.’

    1. RIP. He was an amazing and legendary actor. We will always remember him as Dr Alan Grant in Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park 3, and Jurassic World Dominion as well as Merlin in the miniseries Merlin.

    2. First saw him in Attack Force Z β€” he was the coolest guy in the unit that included Mel Gibson. That coolness only deepened in Reilly: Ace of Spies. Every role after that carried the same quiet authority, right through to the end. Dignified in his choices, dignified in his exit. We’ll miss you, Sam.

    3. Everyone saying he was cancer free how did he die? Cuz he’s 78 and he probably had a heart attack….why do people care so much? A good man died and that’s it 😒 RIP Dr Grant

    4. Dr. Alan Grant: β€œIt’s, it’s a dinosaur.” β€œIan Freeze!” β€œGet rid of the flare!” β€œMr. Hammond after consideration not to endorse your park.” β€œI believe you won’t get off this island alive.” β€œBilly stop! Don’t Billy!” β€œI don’t know maybe new nesting grounds. It’s a whole new world for them.”

    7. It hurts. Thank you for creating some of the most unforgettable characters in cinematic history. Your roles have left a lasting mark on cinema, but for me, Dr. Alan Grant will forever be remembered. Watching parts of Jurassic Park with my son over a dozen times has cemented you as a hero of mine and his childhood. Rest in peace, legend!

    8. One of the first things I did this morning was wake up, go to YouTube, and then the first video is ABC News saying this man is dead. Wonderful… ☹️
