For context, Daria Kasatkina is the n. 1 Australian player, but she was born in Russia and represented the country until 2025, when she switched allegiance to Australia. She was the only female Russian tennis player to publicly criticize Putin over the invasion of Ukraine and to speak out against Russia’s anti-LGBTQ+ laws. Ukrainian tennis players refused to shake hands with Russian players, with the exception of Daria.
She is also the only tennis player who called out Alexander Zverev for being accused of DV by multiples women.
The wedding was attended by several female tennis players from both Russia and Ukraine notably Russian n. 1 and world no.5 Mirra Andreeva.
