I would actually die. 🤣😭 That’s so embarrassing.
He seems like a nice guy

    2. That must feel so fucking weird and dehumanizing, like you’re some inanimate object on display. What even is the point of having a record of meeting a celebrity if you didn’t even greet them like a human being? May as well take a pic with a poster.

    3. AcademicAbalone3243 on

He must have these kinds of interactions every day, and I bet it gets old fast. He’s nicer than I’d be in that situation.

    4. TheKneeQueen on

Didn’t even ask if she could have a photo. Just assumed he’d go along with it. People are so damn entitled.

    5. PmMeLowCarbRecipes on

The internet has broken our brains. She cares more about showing other people that she met him than actually meeting him.

    6. Salty-Cartoonist6880 on

She was taught how to behave in a society by a celebrity. Good for him. That’s rude AF. The point of the pic is just to show that she ā€œmetā€ him. She should be embarrassed.

    7. TackleNonsense on

It’s all about posting that she stood near him, no desire to actually talk to him. It’s actually very sad state some humans are in.

This culture of taking a photo with someone famous is sooo bizarre to me. The amount of times I’ve seen this interaction:

      “Hey ___ can I get a photo?”

      *snaps photo of each other*

      “Thank you!”

Like what a soulless and dehumanizing interaction. People are so desperate to just show that they were next to a famous person that they don’t even want to actually meet them. Because the truth is people that do that didn’t even really “meet” them at all. They took a picture near them. I would so much rather have like a 1 minute conversation with a famous person I like then waste that moment taking a photo with them.

    9. I am screaming with joy. This is everything!!!!

      Sincerely

I love that for him tbh

Like how hard is ā€œoh my god hi I’m such a fan, would you mind if I took a selfie with you?ā€ Treating a person like a photo prop is crazy

    11. Rich-Personality-194 on

How is that anyone’s first reaction? Half the time I forget to capture to photos of anything that’s going on. How do people impulsively just grab their phone first thing when something happens??

    12. Just-a-girl777 on

I can definitely understand how it feels. I deliver packages and people will fully be waiting on me to get to their door and not acknowledge me at all. No hi, no thanks, nothing.

Similar to how she wants a picture but said nothing and didn’t ask. We should all do better!

    13. Truly don’t understand when people do this, surely a genuine interaction would be a nicer memory than only caring about getting a photo

    14. Even_Departure9914 on

When Louis died, a few days later a woman approached him for a photo in London and he said – so politely – ā€˜would it be okay if we don’t?’

He was so nice about it in a time when he was clearly grieving. And she wasn’t reading the room obviously – there’s a video of it.

People don’t give a fuck though

    15. BeneathAnOrangeSky on

I have been around some mildly famous people and I was astounded that this was how they were treated. People would come up to them and immediately raise the camera for a selfie. They smiled and took it in stride but I felt so uncomfortable by the whole scene. People didn’t even ask!

    16. RomanPotato8 on

They might be rich, but I could never be famous. I’d be a hermit prob living somewhere as far away from GP as possible.

    17. PlentyDrawer on

This man has been through it. One time a fan called him stupid for the way he was posing during a picture. As he’s gotten older he’s erected more boundaries.

But, my favorite thing is, no matter the celebrity, is when people say they’ve met a celebrity and they are literally chasing after them and shoving a camera in their face as they are walking down the street. I don’t call that meeting someone.

    18. If I met someone I admired I’d rather have a genuine interaction than a selfieĀ

    19. ChapterThr33 on

There’s a world where this is a misguided attempt to respect his time.

Buuuut I think she just was only thinking about her ig.

    20. This is what I don’t get about photos with celebrities. I can understand meeting someone you admire, having a nice little exchange or conversation, and THEN wanting a photo to commemorate that moment. But shoving a phone in someone’s face and clicking the shutter? What’s the point? Maybe people just want to impress strangers on their socials but I will never understand this.

    21. Am I the only one who wouldnt even go up to a celebrity if I saw them? unless it was like in a situation where they are welcoming fans like a meet and greet or I have met celebrities after broadway shows when they come out the side door. I also kind of have no desire to meet people I am a big fan of. I enjoy having this barrier between them and me. I actually mess that barrier since social media destroyed it. I miss the days where we didnt know every single little thing about famous people or exactly what location they are in etc

      The amount of time
      People
      Live
Through their phones is actually sickening.Ā
I have stopped taking pictures most times. Maybe a couple here and there. Preferring just to live with memories.Ā

    23. Ok-Needleworker-4481 on

She shook his hand with her left hand, never put down the phone 😭

    24. tangointhenight24 on

She doesn’t even look excited to shake hands with him lmao, she just wants to get that picture.

I honestly don’t even record concerts anymore. I never looked back for longer than a minute of the previous ones I have recorded. I am more than satisfied with like maybe one picture of the concert and a short video. I went to the Marina (and the diamonds) concert and she’s literally my most favourite artist. I don’t have a single video or picture of that concert because I was just absorbing the moment. I have no regrets.

Let alone meeting a celebrity in person, oh my goodness. I don’t know why maybe it’s just me but I’d be more interested in speaking with them than a picture. Ya a pic would be nice, but they’re people too. Idk, I’m more curious to see the human in them than I am to flex a picture on ig nobody but myself would remember.

    26. I once saw someone ask Nick Cave for a photo and he said, ‘No, but I’ll give you a hug.’ Gave the guy a bear hug and walked off.

I think the guy was chuffed.

    27. There’s a video of Billie Eilish greeting fans and one of them had her phone up in front of her face while filming the interaction. Billie moved the fan’s phone down and said hi. Like, hey. I’m right here. Don’t look at your phone to remember this interaction later. It’s happening right now!

Imagine being a celebrity and being kind enough to have an interaction with a fan, especially in real life, like not at a work event. They are living their life and don’t need to interact with people. And then people treat them like a product. That’s a human being who you’re apparently a fan of. Say hi!

I’ve never met or even seen a celebrity. But if I was lucky enough to have someone I’m a fan of give me a moment of their time, knowing me I’d walk away from the encounter and say, “Fuck. I didn’t even think to *ask* for a photo!” (Because I would never just hold up my phone and take a pic with anyone without their permission. Famous or otherwise). But I’d also never approach a celebrity, especially in the wild.

There are very few celebrities I’d be excited to meet. But I’d actually want to *meet* them. Introduce myself and say hi. Tell them why I love their work and thanks so much for talking to me. You know, just a human interaction with another human.

    28. Jumping__Bean___ on

If I was that woman, I would literally wish for the ground to open up and swallow me because I’d be so embarrassed. 🫣

I like to give the benefit of the doubt and assume that she probably didn’t mean to cause any offense and just momentarily lost her manners because she was too excited, but also good for Harry for politely calling out this behaviour. Celebrities are people at the end of the day, and I’m sure they don’t enjoy feeling like a prop more than a person.

    29. I met Harry and it was one of those days he didn’t want to take a picture but I’m so grateful for the conversation we had without the picture being taken. He (and Zoe) were so sweet and I’ll treasure that memory forever (especially him trying not to struggle with my name haha). And the greatest thing is, another fan who was too shy to talk to him took a picture while they were talking to me so and waited around to send it to me. Now I have both a convo and a picture (which we obviously didn’t share since he didn’t consent to it being taken). Moral of the story : TALK TO CELEBS LIKE HUMAN BEINGS

    30. I met Nick Offerman one time at a Cubs game. Went up and said ā€œexcuse me Mr. Offerman, if it wouldn’t be too much of a bother can I get a quick picture?ā€

He turns around, looking pretty angry and goes ā€œtreat me like a goddamn human being. Introduce yourself, I have no idea who you are so why would I give you something?ā€ Was a very Ron Swanson kind of moment.

And to his credit he meant it, I introduced myself and my wife and we all talked for about 2 minutes about what we do and where we are from. It was a really nice short conversation and he seemed genuinely interested and engaged. He then says ā€œalright, now that we know each other you can have that picture.ā€

Super cool experience and taught me a lesson about approaching really anybody and giving them the respect they deserve.

It’s like when people film half a concert or film fireworks. Are you only doing all this for show? Does no one have intrinsic motivation anymore? Can we have interests without having to include others?
