The fact that he wants them so badly is just one more sign of how fucking evil they are.

And the grass is green and the sky is blue. MAGA is corrupt and evil, there’s no debate about it.

    3. They are a driving force for jobs, just not in the direction he wants people to think.

    4. Allthetea159 on

There are NO JOBS data centers create outside of initially building them, so temp jobs. FFS I’m so tired of the blatant and rampant stupidity.

This should be enough proof for anyone still on the fence that these are terrible. Literally everything he backs like this is awful.

    6. Will be curious to see who changes their tune data centers are right now a bipartisan point nobody wants them. Even the Texas gov was trying to walk them back.

Add that to the ever growing checklist of why new York is the fucking best

    8. They can put the data centers in their backyard if they want them so much. They’d change their tune real quick if that happened.

Oh, oh you mean the guy who posted a picture of himself as Jesus and a video of him shitting on Americans from a plane, oh he’s pro-AI??? Really??? Thanks for the revelation, wow

Looks like one of his aides forgot to type “thank you for your attention to this matter”

    11. I can see my maga uncle in his hat slowly nodding, “oh ok, I guess data centers are alright!”

    12. If so many other states want them let them have them and their job creating riches. Why are they crying? NYC is the financial capital of the world. NY state will be just fine.

The lure of data centers for companies is that they eliminate jobs. I watched a local news story the other day that the one in my state employs roughly 12 people.

Yes, because they have no artists, creatives, or talent people on their side, so of course they love AI.

What happened to the world that these cartoonishly evil people are in charge, constantly doing cartoonishly evil things to the tune of their chanting sycophants? I know these fucks have always existed but it’s maddening.

    16. He knows that if the AI bubble pops, we will *officially* enter a depression.

Though I do laugh when I see those little conservative rural towns complaining about data centers. My brother in christ you literally voted for this

    17. pluralofjackinthebox on

      Gallup Polls:

“Seven in 10 Americans oppose constructing data centers for artificial intelligence in their local area, including nearly half, 48%, who are strongly opposed. Barely a quarter favor these projects, with 7% strongly in favor.”

the noise they make sounds like something from a dystopian movie that gets panned by critics for being overwritten and heavy handed.

    19. I’m not so sure about the MAGA faithful being pro data center. Usually social media posts about Kathy Hochul (NYS governor) are full of Republican vitriol, but the data center moratorium decision had a lot of “The only thing I agree with her on” and “Trying to buy votes for November” comments.

He’s on the wrong side of his voters on this one. Data centers aren’t going in Times Square, they’re getting foisted on rural areas (which are heavily MAGA).

It would be one thing if a Dem POTUS said this; blue voters aren’t predominantly the target of these abominations.

    21. Allow me to translate:

“My friends and I have sunk hundreds of millions of investment into AI and the data centers that will destroy the environment you idiots live in. We need to control you, and also kill many of you off so we can consolidate power and control and wealth. Bend over, even if it’s in your worst interest.”

    22. glittery_lit on

In all seriousness, this could actually be a breaking point for MAGA. I (unfortunately) have lived in red states for most of my life, and the vast majority of folks I know across the Deep South are vehemently against data centers. Even the ones who bought in to the BS “Liquid Gold” messaging quickly changed their tune once a data center popped up nearby.

    23. People in Wyoming are finding rare bacteria in their water supply since Meta built data centers there.

People in Georgia are being forced to turn their houses and land over to companies expanding their data centers and have complained of dirty water, low water pressure and being forced to buy bottled water to use for bathing, washing, etc.

    24. “They must pay for their own water and power and any leftover goes to the state and local community” – “leftover” what, I ask?? What could be leftover? Water? Power? Money? Data? What is he talking about? Could someone please bring me up to speed on this? Thank you for your attention to this matter!

He works for the oligarchs. The oligarchs want to destroy the power of human capital and truth. AI gives them that capacity, as long as they can leech the resources to build out the infrastructure
