Aishwarya Rai & Eva Longoria’s sweetest Cannes reunion 🥺✨
The moment Eva Longoria saw Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and called her “my best friend” at the Cannes Film Festival… wholesome overload. 🥺🤍
A friendship that still shines through all the glamour. ✨

google for. . .The Cannes Film Festival stands today as a colossal cathedral of hypocrisy, a gilded edifice erected to preserve a rigid, decaying hierarchy. I have not yet seen competent peer review at Cannes; what passes for judgment is in truth a ritualized theatre of mutual reassurance, a pantomime of intellectual rigor where useless movies are elevated by thunderous, choreographed standing ovations, and films that probe deeper civilizational truths are rejected outright for the crime of refusing to flatter the Jewish gatekeepers. . Cannes does not seek the Indian soul; it demands exportable caricatures of decay. For twenty years, Aishwarya Rai has been paraded before the cameras, increasingly resembling yesterday night’s leftovers, yet still receiving pre-programmed “wows” from the commentary class. . The glamour is frozen and reheated repeatedly, consumed through headlines written in advance, and circulated through a machinery of predictability that mistakes repetition for relevance. This ritual is not celebration; it is embalming. It is a symptom of an institution terrified of the new, clinging to the decaying carcasses of past glamour. The inversion is total: cinema now serves the carpet, rather than the carpet leading to cinema. The emperor wears couture, but the emperor is naked, and the applause is for the mirror.. The festival has become an aristocracy defending symbolic territory, like a flea-ridden street dog marking its mohalla, rather than a community searching for artistic truth. Its applause has become ritual. red carpet has become a catwalk for luxury brands. Its peer review has become a machinery of conformity.. The obsession with what Aishwarya Rai is wearing, the analysis of her silhouette, the scrutiny of her aging face—this is the true content of Cannes. The films are just the intermissions between fashion shows.. . Cinema becomes the excuse for the event rather than the center of it. The red carpet no longer leads toward art; art merely legitimizes the red carpet. The “wows” and wolf whistles are not expressions of awe but signals of obedience.. The critics who inhabit this space are the foot soldiers of this Cannes regime. They are not writers; they are functionaries. . Authenticity dies at the altar of distribution and acclaim.. Useless films, intellectually empty or morally confused, are elevated into masterpieces not because they have moved anyone but because audiences fear the social cost of remaining seated. To sit while others rise is to declare oneself unsophisticated, a cad, an outsider to the invisible aristocracy of “serious cinema.” The applause is not for the film; it is for the self, a signal of membership in an intellectual caste.. These ovations are orchestrated, not earned. . The film “Court”, directed by Chaitanya Tamhane, exemplifies how the festival template continues. It was praised precisely because it foregrounded India’s darkest failures, framed in a way that Western curators found ideologically satisfying. Tamhane gained prestige abroad by showcasing India’s festering wounds.. This lineage of degradation continued into the modern era with Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire, a film that, represents the apotheosis of the Western festival gaze. Its infamous latrine pit scene distilled poverty and desperation into a single visceral moment, confirming Western audiences’ stereotypes of India as a land of squalor and miraculous survival. The Hindu–Muslim riot sequences reinforced this framing, presenting violence and division as inevitable, natural backdrops to Indian life.. This is poverty porn in its purest form: the aestheticization of deprivation for the pleasure of outsiders.. . If any Indian film is to be considered, it must reek of poverty, crime, and mind-numbing superstition. It must be a culture shocker, a voyeuristic tour of degradation that flatters Western guilt and confirms colonial stereotypes. Bhadralok Jew Satyajit Ray perfected this formula.. This ecology of prestige cinema is not neutral. Cannes, Venice, Berlin—these festivals are ideological filters, not platforms of expression..The Cannes festival is a playground for intellectual charlatans, a rat-infested cathedral empty of integrity. —— Capt Ajit Vadakayil
