    1. This is horrible, I feel so sorry for him. To spend so much time preparing and changing your life and appearance for a role, and then to get hurt on set and your part is recast, I can’t even imagine.

    2. Damn, thats a wild turn of events in such a short time.

He seemed like a perfect casting too.

There goes my excitement for the show and I really hope Ryan Hurst recovers as soon as possible I feel so bad for him rn because playing Kratos in live action would’ve been his big break sigh 😔 as a big GOW fan especially the 2018 game this really hurts.

Oh yikes this must be devastating to Ryan. I loved him as Opie in Sons of Anarchy and thought he’d do amazing in this role. I guess they don’t have time to wait for him to recover.

This is a wild development. Never heard of this happening – on Cowboy Bebop John Cho got hurt and they delayed the whole show, not fire him… Could it be they weren’t happy w/ his performance and used this as an excuse? I hope not, that’d be literal insult to injury for the actor and he don’t deserve that

Damn. This is pretty an unprecedented for a tv show mid production. Poor Ryan.

This is so sad. I hope he recovers as quickly as possible and he has a good support system.

    8. Man, I really feel for him especially since he was a big fan of the games and you know he poured his heart and soul into getting jacked for the role. Love me some Ryan Hurst.

Hope he recovers well, that’s a major injury with a long rehab that takes NFL guys like 6 months just to get back to baseline and Ryan is 50. Hoping they can find him a future role since Thor is already cast.

    9. Hate this for him. A torn bicep is no joke. Hope he recovers quickly, but it must be bad if they’re opting for a recast.

    10. Brutal. I feel so bad for him. I imagine some people will think this is an excuse by the studio to reset after the backlash to that first picture but they had shot four episodes. This is just a shitty situation.

Gutted for him. He seemed to be buying fully into the role, only to have this happen.

    12. They should let him come back for season 2 and play Thor like he does in the games.

    13. Damn this sucks. I think Hurst is a great actor, especially in SoA, and was looking forward to him in this.

Oh no, a bicep tear sounds awful. I wish him a safe recovery, he must be heartbroken.

Well, we’ll always have that screenshot where Kratos looked like he was pooping…

On a more serious note, this sucks but hopefully he got well-compensated for having to step away. There’s no way they could hold the production until he got better.

    16. Bicep tear sucks and takes forever to hear. Which is unfortunate for him because while a great actor, this was definitely one of his first legit lead roles that I can think of. Coulda really been a breakout for him.

Also, a good reminder of why stunt men are so important to these things. Great that the actors want to do their own stunts, but there’s a lot riding on keeping things on track and major injuries can really fuck things up.

    17. That seriously sucks and it’s going to take months and months of surgery and rehab to hopefully get close to what he had.

I want Christopher Judge as Kratos.  His voice acting in GoW and Ragnarok was amazing.  I do not care that he’s 61 already.

I feel bad for him. Hope it doesn’t take too much toll on his psyche. Wish him a full recovery ❤️‍🩹

    19. This is why stunt actors are so important. If a stunt actor gets hurt doing a scene then yeah that obviously sucks and we hope that they are okay, but it also doesn’t sideline the main talent or stop production. If one of the main actors gets seriously physically hurt then it basically brings the entire thing to a halt.

Idk anything about this game but wonder if they weighed the option to use a body double and just digitally replace the face
