When Dibley’s beloved vicar, Geraldine (Dawn French), is invited to interview for the role of Bishop, she finds herself facing some unexpectedly fierce competition. As the interview process unfolds, Geraldine discovers that becoming Bishop may not be quite as straightforward as she imagined.

I think I've finally figured out why Father Ted is funny, while the Vicar of Dibley is extremely boring. It's because Father Ted contains humour, jokes, timing etc, while the Vicar of Dibley is just a bunch of English oneupmanship and insulting each other. I suppose there are still millions of people that find that funny.
