The story of Eva Green is weirder than you thought

Just saw Bertolucci's _The Dreamers_….Beautiful, touching film. The kitchen scene is masterful film making, carrying you through a gamut of emotions in just two or three minutes ending with a true poignancy that is rarely matched.
Your video made me think of the epic Arthur O'Shaughnessy poem which begins:

_We are the music makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams;
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world for ever, it seems._

And the Tindersticks song, We Are Dreamers. Are you familiar with Tindersticks?

"The one deliberate thing…."? I believe I was six years old. Sunday mornings in a Baptist "Sunday school" classroom…boys only. In the play area of the room, I stood in front of a small blackboard mounted on the wall, scaled down and at just the right height for a six year old. A box of pastel chalks of every color imaginable and something was triggered within and following a natural impulse…a calling, I began to draw organic shapes which at once resembled wispy leaves and curling flames consuming them…strange fluid cursive calligraphies not quite spelling anything out. I know it may sound absurd or pretentious, but I was experiencing the Logic of Painting and abstract picture-making. I took this work very serious. I commandeered the blackboard and the chalks fighting off the other boys brandishing erasers and over about six weeks, I the World began to unfold for me. I "learned" composition, push and pull color relations, and spatial relations as I very quickly decided upon a uniformity of scale to the shapes and how to weave the elements over or under one another giving three dimensional depth. The physical World Outside suddenly snapped into place for me. I understood. Upon finishing, I remember a teacher very solemnly ushering my parents (actually my grandparents who had adopted me) into the room and showing them what I had done and grappling to make sense of this complete abstraction I had produced. I became an artist there and still try to replicate that feeling of a world unfolding.

I recently watched Je, tu, il, Elle by Chantal Akerman, and I want to learn more about her. I think she’d be a great one!

I love the dreamers. I don't know why it gets so much polarizing commentary. She did a magnificent job. Then again I don't frame my media on what the rabble thinks. The film speaks for itself. Great work

Kera read my mind! Was guessing you'd do one on EVA next! My girl crush! After seeing her in The Dreamers scene as Venus De Milo — I watched all movies she was in after that one!

I first noticed her in Penny Dreadful and have been enchanted by her ever since. How one person can portray an inner stillness and strength while at the same time being literally possessed and playing that to the hilt bends my brain into knots trying to sort it all out.

Hers is an uncanny, beautiful performance that I've come back to again and again.

And I loved Michael Pitt in Boardwalk Empire so I'll take a look at his and Eva's movie. Thank you for talking about it. Bertolucci's adaptation of The Sheltering Sky ranks high on my favorites as well, so there's much to love, I'm sure.
