I can easily believe 10% of teachers are bad (I’m married to a good one and I have seen secondhand how many people go into that field for terrible reasons that do not include a genuine desire to teach), but that doesn’t have any bearing on how much I think they should be paid. In a word with universal basic income, sure, let’s base wages primarily on individual performance. But we do not have UBI and arguing that an entire profession’s pay should be downgraded based on the fact that a small percentage are not particularly good at or passionate about the job is bonkersville logic
sometimes i want to be rich and famous and then i remember that mean part of your job is to spend 12+ jetlagged hours a day on a publicity tour talking to people who say things off the wall shit like this just to get a reaction
