I disagree with those saying Monster House- he was already in love with the woman long before she passed and her spirit began inhabiting the house. I genuinely cannot think of a movie that is in equivalency to the ones presented, and it’s kind of a bummer.

    3. Isn’t this like kinda the Adam’s Family? Morticia is the powerful, imposing, scary matriarch. While her
husband Gomez is the passionate, obsessive, lover.

I guess some will say she’s not physically monstrous though. Low-key a Del Toro Adam’s Family adaptation would rip.

Avatar (2009)… if you consider gorgeous 8-12ft blue feline humanoid women “monstrous” that is.

Side note, but are there any movies or shows about beautiful women falling in love with monstrous women? 👀

To be fair, the Guillermo del Toro ‘monsters’ aren’t particularly monstrous either. They all possess relatively attractive physical features and secondary sexual characteristics. Which adds to the female gaze the ‘monsters’ here exist under through their subtle sensuality.

A better example would be like, idk, if someone like Quasimodo was the romantic target. There aren’t really any good examples. Fact of the matter is we live in a society defined by capital accumulation, and physical attractiveness is powerful social capital. Very few people, especially when consuming some form of fantasy-fulfilling media, will actually resist the impulse towards said social capital. Its existentially incoherent within the system we live under. Men just fetishize women in less interesting and more exploitative ways.

The whole plot of the movie Splice with Adrien Brody is that he and his wife create this human-monster hybrid and he ends up having sex with the monster

I’m watching Girls at the moment and my partner thinks Hannah having boyfriends, and friends, requires an unacceptable suspension of disbelief (this is like 95% personality/behavior based even though he doesn’t find her physically attractive).

She’s All That. I mean she could always put the glasses and overalls back on shudders /s

    9. I get what that poster behind the tweet is trying to imply, but it’s also ignoring that monster fucking is a legitimately popular kink/fantasy among women in a way I don’t believe it is among men, so it would make sense we see more stories of the former lol.

    11. From my POV Wicked should not be considered this (someone being green is not at all equivalent to being a monster) but you can tell they wrote the stage musical intending it to be this due to its very early-2000s teen movie depiction of beauty and romance. Elphaba even wears glasses so she can be She’s All That’d before her romance with Fiyero

    12. They absolutely do are you fucking kidding me have you never seen any of the monsterfucket animes out there ye gods

Tons of animes about dudes and monstergirls. Monster Musume is probably one of the more well known ones.

    14. There’s a pretty rough Korean show called Glory. It has a big revenge plot focused around high school bullying (the revenge takes place when they’re all adults) and it is a rough watch at least for me. It was very painful to see her go through the bullying.

She proceeds to, as an adult, go after her high school bullies in meticulous ways that could be pretty monstrous, even if its deserved. The male lead is, well, accepting of her after a certain point.

I’m trying not to spoil anything. It’s a very good show and it allows a woman to just… be really angry and still be loved.

Any depiction of an “ugly” or “monstrous” woman on tv or film, she is never ever fat. Because the most monstrous thing a woman can be is fat 🙄

There’s characters like Zap Brannigan that will fuck anything, but that’s just a parody of the trope.

There’s that Jackpot kid from Jake Long American Dragon, who is excited to kiss a Spider lady at a kissing booth.

In many sci fi franchises you will find inter-species relationships but they usually are amongst normal looking members of each species.

I had thought of another half applicable example hut I forgor
