      I hate that so many girls went through shit this, and I am glad so many women are talking about it now. 

      Not that boy actors don’t also deal with some shit, but I can’t even imagine what would happen if a woman rubbed her phone on a guy’s crotch and did/said the same. We’d all clearly recognize that as wrong, so why can’t we as a society recognize how wrong it is when done to girls?

      I will never not mourn for the child that went through this and that adult that still suffers. 

      Some of us watched in horror and disbelief but without power – if we spoke out in the comment sections on DListed and Celebitchy and even fucking Jezebel we were callled “buzzkills” and told that Courtney was an age faker. It was a terrible time and I hope it wakes them up at night – Chrissie Teigan, Dr Drew, Anderson Cooper, and now Jason Alexander – such a list of complicity.

      Whenever I read anything from Courtney reflecting on their past, it’s so clear they have done so much deep inner work and are soooo dang empathetic and emotionally intelligent.

      I am disgusted by how they were treated here and by soooo many others. Jason should ***absolutely*** publicly apologize to Courtney for this.

      Wishing Courtney healing, peace, and excellent people around them in their personal life now.

      god i wish i could apologize personally to this poor woman for not realizing how fucked up this all was when i was watching it on tv at the same age as her. i looked at it as entertainment. i honestly feel guilty. pretty disgusting that i seem to be more motivated by my teenage media consumption to apologize to her than all the grown men who actually abused her.

      As I got older I started to realize how many creepy men tried to chat me up when I was 11-17. When I was 12 a neighborhood man used to follow me around and say I was going to be his “next” wife. by the time I was 13, when my mom sent my sister & me out to play during the summer, I’d climb a tree and stay there until it was time to go home. Or I’d ride my bike around the neighborhood. Anything rather than sit around the playground and have men approach me.

      Holding a teenage girl to the same standard mentally as a full grown much older man has always made my blood boil. And the woman/girl is always judged more harshly. Her, Monica Lewisnky, a million others. Meanwhile we treat teenage boys like the idiots they are because they ARE. And we give them grace to mature at their own pace. The hypocrisy is insane. She’s a victim, all teenage girls/young women are victims to the older men that prey on them.

      i’ll forever have a soft spot for her.

      i moved to the same small town she grew up in right after she left. i went to high school with her childhood “friends” and the things they’d say about her were abysmal. they were just kids, like she was, and they said such vicious things about her. i remember being in home room and kids talking about what she posted on social media.

      i hope she finds the healing she needs.

      Why was a 17-year-old cast in this sketch to begin with? Who booked her in this role? I’m not defending Jason Alexander, but if the sketch doesn’t say “17 year old girl” in the script, this feels like really terrible casting more than anything … and a very gross misogynistic sketch.

      I used to know someone who was up for a lot of similar type-cast roles against him before Seinfeld and he said he was always an absolute douchebag. I didn’t know this “skit” was a thing but I’m not surprised. I always felt bad for this poor girl and think her advocacy now to stop this shit is amazing.

      The saddest thing about this is that if you were a teenage girl during that time (✋🏽it’s me) how badly Courtney was made a spectacle, something to jeer at instead of compassion and sympathy. All the focus was on her appearance and how “plastic” she was and not the atrocity that her family let this happen and how much of a creep Doug was.

      In hindsight it reminds me a lot of how Monica Lewinsky was treated, it messed with me at the time.

      This really is unfortunate. I met Jason Alexander once at a free talk at my university on acting (wasn’t in theater, just went cause of him). He seemed like the nicest guy. Literally stuck around sweating buckets to say hi and do pictures with every single person in line for free.
