This summer’s World Cup will be remembered for a lot of things.
It was the first to be played in three countries, the first with 48 teams and the overall attendance nearly doubled the previous record. Norway’s Erling Haaland and Cape Verde’s Vozinha were captivating while Egypt and Canada both won World Cup games for the first time, advancing to the round of 16.
And Spain, glorious Spain, gave up just one goal in eight games to dethrone the reigning champions and become the first nation in history to own both the men’s and women’s World Cup titles at the same time.
But the tournament will also be remembered for a classless and churlish Argentina, which forever stained itself with a thuggish performance in the game and an ungracious one afterward.

Argentina never had class to begin with.
What class and decorum?

Anyone who’s followed soccer for longer knows this is no surprise. It’s just making the news again because Messi just had a huge statue of him built in Argentina and I’m sure they wanted to bring the Cup home one last time.
….As if they had any?

we (Latin America) have known this. This is why we collectively don’t cheer for them.
When did they have any?
Xenophobia everywhere
“As if they had any”, there’s actually A LOT of people (I would guess the majority tbh) who had no real concept of Argentina apart from them being a Latin American country before the WC. So yeah, that group of people has definitely learned a lot more about the country’s negative side after their performance. But also the Argentinians arguing (some in this very thread) about being discriminated against or opposed because they’re Latinos. Babes you literally won the last one and have made it to 3 of the last 4 finals. There is no conspiracy against you lol
It was an embarrassing watch. It’s also FIFA’s fault for letting get away with as much as they did. While that fight on the field was jaw-dropping to witness, it wasn’t surprising.
It was already lost before the final.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:
Argentina spent the tournament trying to bully opponents, referees, and the game itself. Dirty play. Dirty tricks. Thuggish fouls. Zero sportsmanship. Zero class.
Football won in the end. Congratulations, Spain. 🇪🇸🏆
Class-less
I’m sorry, but this is really taking me out, everyone is talking about football as if it was invented yesterday. Literally the match in which Spain won the world cup in 2010 is famously known for being a wild final with tons of yellow cards and including a kung-fu kick directly to Xavi Alonso’s chest 😭😭😭 (which only earned a yellow card somehow).
You didn’t watch the last few world cups?
They didn’t just lose it. It was never there
This is getting ridiculous, this is has been a viable part of the game for years. The dark arts are a legitimate way to win. Many dark art experts like ramos, Alex Ferguson etc have succeeded. When they win it’s smart, when they lose it’s classless
I don’t know much about sports, but everything in my body tenses up when a white writer describes a group of brown people as thuggish 😬

Parades needs to be banned. Genuinely wonder how he acts behind closed doors if he can do that over a game.
Lol
They were always like this. And internet hating them won’t have a effect on them. They simply don’t care
Internet just me Ted them as villains be cause they are the best south American team.
Like only two players lost their minds and attacked the adversaries.
And I am a Brazilian and I don’t agree with the hate campaign
Villians will villian
They haven’t had either since the 70s when they started their bullshitbfor the 1st time. They are repeat offenders and you can count on them to be terrible.
Argentina got the easier side of the bracket, imo… I don’t think they’d have been able to overpower Morocco or France, either.

The country that welcomed fascists and Nazis from across Europe had class? Psh, nah, never.
Everyone already hated them…
