OK so there are many men mentioned in this article who deserve flack and are trash and yeah Noel Gallagher is an asshole but can we maybe not infantilize his 45 year old partner. She is 45. 45 is mature. The author is acting like Noel is dating a 17 year old.
Also sorry but mentioning the groomer and her boyfriend as a positive example ain’t it.
Like you can’t have a problem with a 59 year old dating a 45 year old who he met when she was 43 and then be like “Oh that girlboss met this gay when he was a teenager and she was 40, girlboss slay”

Omg what crap. I love how Sam Taylor Johnson is buried at the end. Like “ok sure some women marry younger men but still the patriarchy!”. She, a married woman in her 30s, dated an 18 year old. And she was his director, his de facto boss, at the time. Except for wife beater Pitt she’s the worst person listed.
This is a really poorly written article, where most of the thesis is derived from ascribing random motives to the men in question (do they really believe they’re avant garde? I doubt it.)
I appreciate that the author at least correctly identifies her own response. She is angry because her male peers consistently date “younger models” of herself. And she’s right – it *is* misogynistic and indicative of wider prejudices around women’s perceived attractiveness as they age that do not apply to men.
I hope that people can be honest about their reactions to age gap relationships going forwards. The above is seen as a bitter and self-centred reaction, so people pearl clutch about “power dynamics” but when the women in question are 45+ that just sounds delusional. (Categorically does not apply when the woman in question is a young adult, obviously.)
I ain’t reading all that but Brad Pitt sucks and I’m glad his shittiness is finally catching up to him
