      * One of the biggest stories of the Open Championship (in the UK) was Bryson DeChambeau being penalized two shots after is round Friday, and more layers continue to be piled on to the story.
      * **Sunday night, Geoff Shackelford with The Quadrilateral reported DeChambeau tried to enlist the help of President Donald Trump during his spat with R&A rules officials before officially signing his scorecard. DeChambeau, who was fighting to not be penalized for inadvertently improving his lie after a wayward drive on the par-4 fifth hole during the second round, reportedly tried to have Trump fight on his behalf to not be penalized.**
      * **The R&A denied the request**, and DeChambeau’s antics – which many players criticized – also didn’t help his favor in overturning the ruling.
      * Earlier this month, Trump intervened with FIFA to help U.S. men’s national team World Cup soccer star Folarin Balogun have a red card rescinded, allowing him to play in the Round of 16 match against Belgium. Trump called FIFA president Gianni Infantino asking for a review of Balogun’s red card during the game against Bosnia and Herzegovina July 1.
      * DeChambeau and the President have a close relationship. The two-time major championship serves on the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition, celebrated with Trump’s family after his 2024 U.S. Open win and has featured Trump in videos on his YouTube channel.
      * BBC Radio 5 asked R&A executive Mark Darbon on Saturday whether he had received a phone call from the U.S. President, with Darbon saying he had not.
      * **DeChambeau finished T-14 on Sunday at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England, six shots behind eventual winner Ryan Fox.**

So every MAGA dipshit is going to ask Trump for help in their hobby after Trump’s World Cup intereference huh?

    3. I would be so embarrassed. 32 years old and acting like a child. At work. Publicly. And shows no contrition.

Really giving “do you know who my dad is” vibes [https://imgur.com/a/7k2OMzh](https://imgur.com/a/7k2OMzh)

I’m gonna hold back on this for now. I would like to think as big a baby as DeChambeau is he isn’t that big a baby, or at least has enough sense to know it wouldn’t help.

This is a made for headlines claim. Will be interesting to see if it is ever shown to be true.
