Loving this moment he’s been having! Probably cliche to say but I’ve been a fan of his since I was a kid when I saw him as Luigi in the original Mario movie on DVD (or maybe VHS who can remember)

Not me tearing up to his statement! I love this man and was gagged when he did the accent!
He’s right. The movie did not get the credit it deserved when it came out. I remember watching it and I was blown away. Patrick went out all the way and gave the most amazing performance. People had no jdea what to do with it. John was trailblazer his role. I’m just glad that this movie was acknowledged later. John was so damn far ahead of the times. So was Patrick.
Sincerely

I am still anxiously waiting for him to guest on Leguizamarama – they’ve already finished every project he’s ever been in and have been watching other stuff recently, but I am frothing to see Mish and Zach interview him. He’s aware of the podcast, go to Australia and let them appreciate you, John!

Itās a beautiful movie, but itās made even more beautiful by how much every single person involved had the upmost care and respect for the material.

If you like To Wong Foo, it’s a perfect pairing with Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. A similar plot but set in the Australian Outback, featuring some excellent performances by Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce, and Terrance Stamp.

I was very young when I watched this movie and it never even occurred to me to laugh. None of these people were the butt of the joke. I thought they were beautiful (ESPECIALLY Chi Chi) and glamorous. I loved their makeup, hair, and outfits, and how regal they seemed. They absolutely gave these characters dignity. Knowing that they actively worked to not make these characters a joke makes so much sense. They nailed it. Absolutely accomplished that goal.
This is why it is important for young people to be exposed to LGBT+ films and media like Too Wong Foo. This movie being a formative experience, and that experience being that these drag queens are graceful, compassionate, intelligent people, is so special. Iām so grateful.
