Read Fruit Fly fully, and only the first chapter of Yesteryear (but I read this chapter before Fruit Fly), and I was surprised at how both read like complimentary pieces of each other. I'm impressed to see Jack make the same connection. I'm sure had I continued Yesteryear, I'd have a better argument for or against this claim, but the cynical stream of conciousness of each woman cracking under the pressure was readily apparent in both.
I think one of the best gifts is an understanding of people’s choices in literature and the beautiful thinking behind choosing a book for them. I think his choices are brilliant and such well catered to his guests!
