Chris Evans received a dozen pitches after ‘Avengers: Endgame’ to return to the MCU but it was only after Robert Downey Jr. signed on to return that it became ‘the right time’ to return

Sure, Jan. The “right time” to return was when Disney offered you and RDJ a butt load of money.

Yeah, I am sure RDJ getting a (frankly ridiculous) $100m had nothing to do with it. I wonder how much Evans got.

    3. Okay are we really gonna pretend like he had a good career outside marvel? Apart from Oppenheimer, even RDJ hasn’t been in anything successful.

      Edit: I mean post endgame

weirdly the timing coincided with starring in a bunch of flops and wanting a ton of money.

It lowkey must be frustrating for these actors who try to break from the shackles of whatever project/s they were tied to or associated with for years (tv series, superhero films etc) to eventually come crawling back when the offers don’t roll in like they thought/hoped (obviously they’ll be fine with the obscene amounts of money they’re making so I’m not pitying them)

But Chris Evans is a legitimately talented actor, I would’ve assumed he’d have had more success than he has so far post MCU

I had to check if this was not miley’s ex husband. That was a liam who is brother of a chris but not this chris. They look very similar to me, even though (checks google) they are 9 years appart and have different nationalities.

    7. If his Steve Rogers is influenced by any of Nick Spencer’s storyline the fans of the MCU are in for a trippy experience

    8. The talking of them “returning” as if they missed a single Avengers movie is very funny.

What’s with all the hate in the comments? I think he’s speaking his truth when it comes to the character. I mean money is one thing but the dude already has it. I’m sure they were offering him millions throughout all those pitches but he wanted this return to be big and monumental. What better time than Secret Wars?

    10. NocturnaIAnimaI on

Bruh it’s barely been 7 years, why are they acting like he’s been gone over a decade. And he hasn’t even missed an avengers movie lol

Maybe it’s a sign that it wasn’t right all along. This just looks bad if you’re paying attention. So it took 12 pitches and a then a billion dollars to have him. This movie could really fail and be a story of how greed can take it all away.

    12. Why are you all saying “money?” You don’t think boatloads were positioned before? To probably STAR and not just be a featured character in an ensemble? Like, be real.

    13. I like Chris Evens but I’m personally not excited to see him back as captain america it’s been hard to get ppl to accept that Sam is captain an now here he’s back feels like marvel is rewarding their racist bad fans. I want them to allow us to continue to explore black and poc characters with the stand alone movies and sequels they deserve. They keep shelving those projects and giving us the same line up of characters cus why is gambit in this movie he was a joke for Deadpool 😅.

don’t care unless he’s hydra cap. literally the only interesting story they could tell with Steve at this point

    15. Cherry_Bomb_127 on

It hasn’t even been 10 years, don’t get me wrong. I think the movie’s gonna make a lot of money, but still it’s literally the next avengers movie

    16. It’s been so long since we last saw Steve. It’s been *checks notes* one Captain America and zero Avengers films.

    17. Watched the trailer. Felt nothing. It’s over man, it was over with endgame.

    18. notarealprincess on

It’s the right time because now he has a kid to support and need that MCU money lol

    19. Sounds like they’re paying him to say “guys I swear it’s bc it’s a well written story and not a cash grab”

    20. I used to looooove Marvel movies but just haven’t been into it the last several years. Wish I was excited 😭 Endgame’s actually the last movie I saw in theaters.

    21. I am not all that excited about either RDJ or Evans being back because I felt like Endgame was a great wrap to the saga and their characters (especially Iron Man, less so with Captain America).

But I mean I think it’s believable that he truly wasn’t interested in what they offered him story wise until RDJ came back and he had a chance to play off him again. I’m sure the truck of money sealed the deal too but I doubt it was the first time they offered him everything and the kitchen sink.

This movie will make buckets of money. Evans and RDJ will go back to their regular movies after this with even bigger bank accounts and the MCU will either sink or swim without them.

Do I think it will be a good movie? No. But maybe I will be surprised. As much as I talk shit about Marvel i know i will be there opening night.

Just remember, at this point no death or character resolution means anything in this universe. It’ll only be real until an actor’s agent can work out a points deal to bring them back.
