      It’s not even funny. My mom was a lifelong smoker and just got diagnosed with terminal lung cancer with a prognosis of less than a year. I just had my first baby and won’t have my mom here for the rest of my life.

      I just woke up from the stench of my neighbors smoking beneath my bedroom window.

      Fuck smoking. And honestly Fuck smokers with no regard for anyone else. Fuck this industry. Make this shit illegal yesterday.

      Donald Sutherland’s father in-law is Tommy Douglas, the father of Canada’s Universal Health Care program. He grew up being a sick kid. Him treating his health seriously is not a joke.

      As someone with an autoimmune disorder who makes my lungs sensitive…I hate this. A major access issue.

      As a plea to anyone reading….you don’t have to smoke in outdoor spaces at parties either. Those of us with health issues may be outside to get good ventilation due to Covid concerns.

      I vaguely remember in some interview that she said her mother used to come into her room when she was like, 8 years old and they would smoke cigarettes together, like she wanted it to come across as funny. Very bizarre

      Edit: found the quote. Doesn’t seem like she’s 8 but seems like she grew up in a “cool mom” house

      “”Mum and I would always talk about sex,” Knightley explained. “She’d come up to my room, have me roll her cigarettes and then tell me I had to have one with her. It’s not the typical mother-daughter thing but we’re extremely close.”

      She added: “Mum’s a bit mental in a good way. She’s this chilled-out hippy mother. My house was always the one where my brother and his mates would be drinking when they shouldn’t be.”

      I remember going to a family party as a child and literally passing out because of all the cigarette smoke in the house. So yeahhhhh, I get him lmfao.

      I hate smokers. Totally feel for Donald. “Everyone smoked back then” is not a friggin excuse to endanger other’s health. I get instant migraines from cigarette smoke and my grandmother died of lung cancer in my living room as a young kid. Gross.

      I used to love Keira, and for most of her career, she has been fairly unproblematic, always advocating for strong representation for girls and women. But this “funny” story is super ick. I was also smoking 20 years ago, and I had enough self-awareness not to do it around non-smokers, let alone vulnerable people. Paired with her last comment about trans people, I’m super disappointed in her. She just feels like someone who is largely unconcerned with people beyond her little bubble.

      smokers are disgusting, smoking is disgusting. you reek of ashes from your clothes & your mouth & your breath. go home & take a shower immediately or go to the doctor because it might be the day your lungs start malfunctioning.

      With asthma and chronic migraines, im basically this close to doing this at all times ha ha
      Three of my family members smoke cigarettes and its one of my biggest migraine triggers. the worst. I relate to wishing you could control an illnesses triggers.

      My mom died of COPD at 65, after 10 years of literal suffocation. It’s a hellish disease that is not talked about for some reason. So yeah, not very funny Keira.
