What exactly would be different in a positive way? The investigation has been pretty thorough and is still ongoing but all signs still point to an accidental drowning. The only thing that would be different if Nolan was White and his friends were Black would it would be more likely the friends get unfairly arrested and targeted despite no evidence of wrongdoing which would be awful.

I feel so terrible for Nolan’s family and friends, and shame on that lawyer for taking advantage of grieving families

This is so true. I worked at Barnard when Tessa Majors (white femme) was murdered by three Black teenagers. The racism in the media coverage and popular response was overwhelming, and my job was to track it all as part of the crisis response team. I burned out and quit about a year later.
