Simone Biles Makes First Public Appearance After Undergoing Procedure | E! News

Simone Biles is back on the metaphorical mat. Days after the Olympic gymnast confirmed she was undergoing an unspecified procedure, she proved she’s recovering positively with an appearance at the Faces of Fitness event in Chicago. Biles, 29, stepped out at the event July 26 sporting a red athletic set, sneakers and braids. The gymnast’s 25-minute presentation revolved around the importance of mental health in sports, and also featured the organization bringing out 11 literal goats to represent her as the G.O.A.T. for her Olympic wins. (Biles has a total of seven gold medals, two silver medals and two bronze medals across the three Olympic Games she has participated in.) In response to the cheeky nod, Biles admitted she was a little afraid of the animals, joking in a video on her Instagram Story that saw her flinch away from one of them, “Terrified of my own family.” The sweet gesture couldn’t have come to Biles at a better time. After all, the athlete has had a difficult last few weeks, sharing that she experienced a near-death health scare in early June while her husband Jonathan Owens was away for work.
