    2. Regardless of where anyone stands politically, hearing someone describe a rally as feeling “cult-like” is a reminder that personality-driven politics can become unhealthy when loyalty outweighs critical thinking.

    3. I would be a lot more supportive of his criticism against Trump if he didn’t post a AI video of him punching Dylan Mulvaney

Yes. Brainwashing and gaslighting and propaganda are effective…. when you add money/power to it… it is sad but understandable the people who get stuck being unable to admit they’ve gotten got

This dude is quite a paradox. On the one hand, he’s totally right about MAGA being a cult but then he’s known to say some extremely stupid, ignorant shit regarding immigrants

    6. If you listen to some of the hitler speeches translated to English, the way he campaigned didn’t necessarily align with the outcome. So it’s even worse that Trump is outright saying the most crazy shit and people are yes manning him.

    7. butwhywedothis on

Anyone who’s brain functions properly would not be attending a Trump rally so there is no chance they realize how Hitler happened.

    8. it was so strange being a teenager learning about hitlers rise to power in history class and noticing the amount of parallels that were happening in real time.

    9. “if he told them to do anything they’d fuckin’ do it” I mean yeah that’s literally January 6th

    10. I don’t know this man and was ready to give him points for being in a position where he could oppose something yet still find himself at events like this due to his job/coworkers. But these comments scream yikes lol

Hitler’s rise to power actually makes a whole lot more sense than Trump’s. Germany was a mess after WW1. It was probably easy to convince a bunch of people that Germany needed help, because it actually did. All Trump did was insult Hilary Clinton on stage, and that seemed to be enough of MAGA.

    12. idk anything about this man like truly never seen or heard of him in my life but these comments are indicating maybe he has some questionable political opinions and my response to that is actually maybe that’s good in this situation?

MAGA people are never going to listen to us. they’re in too deep. people who have beliefs that align with them but aren’t “in” the MAGA cult might actually have more of a chance of reaching them? like in terms of first steps we just need to get these people unbrainwashed. idk.

this isn’t my area of expertise but I can appreciate the potential power of someone right wing not being MAGA. (though to be clear– fuck him for whatever hateful beliefs he has)

I know this guy also has some rightwing opinion. I will also want to mention his background. He was born to a Neo Nazi father who constantly abused him and some rumors suggest he was also sexually assaulted by him. I think that kind of explains the multitude of his opinions

This stuff is kind of funny to me, because I was saying this THIRTY YEARS AGO, and everyone was like, “Nah, there was just something wrong with the Germans. That shit could never happen here.”

This is what you get when you don’t teach history.
