In October 2012, Icelandic television station Stöð 2 accidentally aired an episode of Teletubbies with subtitle captions from HBO’s The Sopranos after the wrong subtitle file was loaded during the broadcast.
Instead of the show’s usual dialogue, the subtitles contained lines from Christopher Moltisanti’s intervention in The Sopranos, including references to drugs, funerals, and violence.
Although screenshots of the mistake circulated in Iceland at the time, the incident remained relatively unknown internationally because the subtitles were in Icelandic.

My Dad used to travel to China all the time for business (mostly Beijing and/or Shanghai) and sometimes he’d bring us back goofy bootleg stuff as last-minute gifts (oh, business Dads, y’all half-ass everything, lol).
One time he brought us a bootleg animated *Garfield* DVD while it was still in theatres. It had the wildest hard-coded English subtitles… they started using military jargon and action type words, and cursing. We eventually looked some of the lines up online, and it was the subtitles for *Black Hawk Down.* We died laughing, watched the entire thing.
