Cruise played rookie NASCAR driver Cole Trickle in the hit 1990 movie he co-wrote and will revive the role in a sequel starring Ann Hathaway due to be released in 2028.

This is the least surprising thing ever. That man is on a mission to die filming a movie stunt.

Paul Newman and Tom Cruise worked together on The Color of Money. Paul was a successful race car driver as PL Newman. Tom was interested in racing, so Paul introduced him to SCCA racing. Problem is Tom can’t drive a race car, it was huge failure.
I can image NASCAR being shocked. This ain’t no special effects!

If Frankie Muniz can do it. Why not me?

Just to clarify, he asked to race in the ARCA Series, not the NASCAR Cup series (the premier division). The ARCA series uses older cars and is touted as a development league. It’s populated by a couple promising young drivers, weekend warriors, a few retirees, and a bunch of rich kids trying to burn through daddy’s money.
Cruise can get into this series pretty easily. He won’t win, but I can guarantee that he won’t be the worst driver on the track.

That should be one of the least surprising things ever. It’s how Tom Cruise has handled all his stunts in recent years.

Fuck it. Let him. Like how i think a civilian should be put into the last lane of the 100m qualifiers in the Olympics. Show how good the pros really are

Would be funny if cruise just spent late part of career making sequels to all of his 80s movies

Tom Cruise looking at professional drivers and thinking “yeah, I can do that” is so goddam Tom Cruise, it’s borderline insane.

This guy is gonna die doing some shit like this. I genuinely don’t believe TC will make it to 70

I mean, have they not read the media stories about him about how he wants to do all of his own stunts, including flying actual navy planes

To be fair he has a pilot license for fighters and is good in a car per TopGear…

He has 4 SCCA wins from the late 80s. So he has raced before, granted forever ago. why not let him give it a try?

This is hilarious and also totally on-brand/believable. I 100% would watch a race for the first time in maybe 20 years.

A real race…..how do you insure he isn’t a hazard out there? By having him run back of the pack?

Xenu says he should be able to drive if he wants!!!!
