Pablo Torre: "Kelly Clarkson wasn't interested in that Brooklyn store's "comparable" $2,000 mechanical bird. So we bought it. And now we're auctioning it off – for a good cause.

Wherever you think this story is going to go next, it’s going to go in a completely new direction

    2. this is the new Timothy Chalballet incident: a celeb viral moment that *soooo* many people are trying to grab their 15 minutes from and be parasocial about it. I mean, at least someone’s trying to use it towards a good cause but they could’ve just donated the $2k and told people to focus on something like that, which is more important

Still weird but not the worst response to this silly fiasco

    3. I think we all really miss dumb shit like this making headlines, instead of stuff like “President says he feels bad for rapists” or “school girls bombed for being brown”. The people yearn for nonsense.

    4. this is very funny of pablo

i will say, this cause is near and dear to him and his show

the kyra fund was started after the daughter of his coworker, david samson, died at just 28 in june of this year after a battle with glioblastoma. she was a member of the production team on *watch what happens live*, and andy paid a really touching tribute to her when she passed

Is it because the Russian bots are gone that were able to have this kind of low stakes drama making headlines again? It’s a delight.

    6. Can I please have “The $2,000 automaton that Kelly Clarkson did not want” as flair? 🐥😂

    7. Sorry but who is Pablo Torre ( not meant as an insult) and why are we getting every details of his reaction on this sub

    8. THIS is how I catch up on Wyatt Cenac? 🤣 I loved him and haven’t caught up on anything he’s done in approx 10 years.

    9. She should be embarrassed that it’s 2026 and this is what she decided to make noise about. Someone hurting her feelings in a store. I can’t recall a time she ever stood up for marginalized groups of people. Has she said one word about our current hellscape?

I can’t read any threads about this anywhere else because the comments are so heavily in the tank for Kelly. I’ve always been neutral to positive on her (and have followed her since her American Idol days), but idk how anyone could see her speaking forcefully (harshly?) to the other shop employee she hadn’t even interacted with and decide she MUST be in the right. That was more damning to me than almost anything else. Even if one store employee were rude to me, why would I yell at another one?? Go back to the original guy if you’re so heated!

This is 1000% an ego thing and I can’t believe how many people are defending her.

    11. I’m just kind of happy this drama is introducing a lot of people to automatons. They are fascinating works of art with a long and interesting history. Thanks to Kelly I got to talk my partner’s ear off about them.

Idk this guy but he’s so real for having to use the word cloche once you know it

I hope I don’t get downvoted, but I’m surprised at the number of people who are on the store’s side, especially after the interview and videos of the store owner. I understand naturally wanting to take the side of a small business vs a millionaire, but the interview confirms that they would sell it to someone who they felt had “serious interest”, which confirms that they didn’t take her seriously.

They’re also an incredibly successful store operating in a very wealthy part of Brooklyn, this isn’t a tiny family owned deli we’re talking about.

They also just shared that they’re raising the price of the bird to $15 million, again proving that it’s for sale if you have the money.

The more I see and hear from the owner, the more it confirms what Kelly said.

      Open to other POVs!

Here’s a Hot Take. Maybe had Kelly kept doing her job, as a talk show host (and all the crew and band not been laid off), she’d be too busy to toss twitter nukes on small businesses in Brooklyn with heavy rent burdens.

    15. I am just failing to understand how this is taking up so much of pop culture disco course it is so goofy
