*Please Note:* While I really appreciate people sending me their books, poetry, and other writing, I do get sent hundreds of pieces of writing, both physically and digitally, every week and I simply don’t have time to read and review every single one, I’m sorry! On top of this, I find it really hard to be objective with people who are my fans so I prefer not to give feedback anymore to people who watch my videos. Thank you all for understanding!

  1. Rachel, I've been watching your videos for many years now, but I have never commented on any of them because commenting is not really my thing. But I just had to tell you that your poem is amazing; it actually made me tear up. I never considered myself a "poetry person" but this poem is just … something else. I myself have been used and, let's be frank, abused to the point of needing therapy by my "best friend" who treated me like a puppet when I was teenager. It has been inspiring to follow your journey of self-discovery (I myself have been diagnosed as autistic about two years ago in my late twenties) and it has given me the courage to be myself and to trust myself. Thank you for all the hard work you put into your videos.

  2. Its a shame this book is so bad, megan fox has a lot to say about the misogyny she experienced through her work in interviews and speaks fairly well about it. Theres an interview with the jennifers body director diablo cody where they touch on this subject and the misogynistic marketing of the film

  3. Thank you for your honesty Rachel, even when it can be conflicting when the subject matter is so important. Great review as always!

  4. Mid video: I adore the way you read out poetry. I usually watch your videos in the morning and when you read good poetry it makes me tear up which honestly is a great way to start my day. Also! I like the way you explain yourself. It’s interesting to get more insight into your experience and how that brings you to conclusions.
Also also- I love how you always bring a good example to compare to the bad poems you read.

  5. I love your videos Rachel! Was so excited to see a new one, hope you’re doing well especially after your last video. Hello from a fellow autistic poet! ❤

  6. Chakras originate from Hinduism and it should be recognized that new age spirituality has bastardized this very ancient and sacred concept. Please give respect to its origins. It’s not the same as the new age version of it.

  7. As someone also with a DV past i can say its really disheartening to see someone profiting off of this stuff. Sometimes i wonder why we give the time of day to such celebrities who clearly are deluded and out of touch.. Thanks again Rachel for covering this with such care and insight 💚🌸

  8. Rachel it would be great if you could review latina authors such as Alejandra Pizarnik (I REALLY recommend you check her out), Alfonsina Storni, Idea Vilariño and Juana de Ibarborou; they were and are really important poets who I think you would love. Obviously things get lost in translation but nevertheless I read poetry originally written in English translated to Spanish and I love it anyways.

  9. She literally writes like I wrote poems when I was 15; I grabbed a dictionary and searched words that I did not know just to put them in there to sound more profound. But poetry is not about that, you can write in the most mundane language and conquer something beautiful that express just what you need, poetry is about rythm, structure, significance, MAKING SENSE and being able to get the point across or leaving the reader to interpret thing through their own experiences.

  10. isn’t megan bisexual? in regards to “why i wish i was gay” at 1:17:10 …. did she forget that she…. is??
even excusing how blatantly ignorant the entire premise for the poem is, now i’m just confused 🤦🏻‍♀️

  11. Rachel!! I love your poetry videos so much!! Thank you for all of the work you put into them. I have to ask, where is the first sweater you are wearing in this video from?☺️ absolutely adore it

  12. not surprised at all by her strange mention of chakras (despite them being culturally significant for a lot of people) when she seriously calls mgk "buddah" as a petname. I wish I didn't know this

  13. The first poem could be really good if it was the first and last lines of a fleshed out poem:

“I used to believe love was a poem”

[Several stanzas comparing the feelings of love to reading beautiful words. Then how those words can be twisted to hurt you and the damage that can be done when an abusive partner moves from one victim to another]

“I used to believe love was a poem
But now I know love is a killing spree”

  14. I did not like these poems. I think it is just the simple fact that just because someone is a hot, pretty, celebrity does not mean they can write. I don't find any of these poems to be particularly deep or self-reflective at all. Meanwhile, the resounding mentality is that Megan Fox is a very deep and complex intelligent person. I just don't see it at all from these poems. I am not saying it is not true, just that her work itself is not reflective of this. I also did not love the blank pages. Seems a bit wasteful of paper but this just my complaint on the book physically. I don't think the blank pages add anything to it. It's a weird choice.

  15. You know, the funny part of the introduction to me is that beyond the chakra stuff, there were a couple phrases I found interesting and would have loved to see with an author describing a fictional character. But someone describing themselves that way? That felt really weird 😅

  16. the overexplaining thing you mentioned, i relate to! im also autistic, and have had so so so many experiences of people misunderstanding me or perceiving me as too blunt. so i adapted into explaining things in as much detail as possible so not yo be misunderstood anymore. so idk if youve had similar experiences that contributed to you doing that. regardless though its ok to explain and do what feels best for you 🙂

ALSO i really loved your reading of your poem. its a beautiful piece and the emotion and flare you brought to reading it was enthralling. thank you for sharing!!

  17. Happy birthday, Rachel! Thanks for sharing your excellent take on these poems, one brilliant one of your own and some others that you love! I hope it’s being a wonderful day!!

  18. Your poem was incredible, Rachel! I've always planned on picking up your book, but I'll definitely be pushing it higher up the to read list!

I know you said at the beginning that you feel mean about these videos, but I just want you to know that there's a huge amount of knowledge in them! I think you're firm, but fair, and you point out the good with the bad, and I've learned a ton about how to craft stories and why certain authors speak to me and others don't!

  19. Your puppermaster poem was incredible. I was invested in the story, the rhythm carried me along, the rhyming was satisfying. I felt like I was trying to anticipate the second half of each couplet as you spoke, it was really engaging.

  20. I usually have Rachel's videos playing in the background like a podcast while i do some tidying up, but when she started reading her poem i just sat down mesmerized for the entire 10mins. I am such a sucker for rhyming couplets. I think it'll be really cool to just have videos of just poetry reading

  21. Shame that's your point of reference for Taylor Swift. There's far better written work in her catalogue than a light hearted wink at those who hate her.
