I know I have been though I’ve been
scrambling all right friends hello and
welcome welcome welcome uh loads to talk
about today so uh I’ll do the little you
know Spiel and then we’ll start chatting
uh welcome happy Saturday if you are new
here my name is L conar and I have a
business called L by mail so on
Saturdays when I’m not traveling we are
here uh for the last four years we’ve
been doing this it’s crazy um but we are
here on my YouTube channel at 9:00 a.m.
Pacific Time a.m. and we are doing what
I like to call Creative listing so we’re
basically making lists uh a couple days
before usually the Thursday before our
Saturday together I publish on blog uh
at lby mail.com a list of topics the
lists that we’ll be listing about um but
I call it creative listing because as we
are listing we’re playing and I am
adding um sometimes photos and D cuts
and we’re stamping and stickers and
Washi and just all the things and we’re
having a lot of fun that’s why I call it
creative listing um it is another way in
the 27 years or so that I’ve been
scrapbooking or documenting or memory
keeping or journaling or storytelling
whatever you have it um that I like to
tell my story and in this case it’s
totally telling my story because pretty
much the things I’m listing about end up
being about me um like today one of our
list is my favorite authors so in a lot
of cases we are um telling our story
that other people may not know so may be
a story we never told so that is what
we’re doing here on a Saturday and
welcome to you let me double check the
chat uh and then we’ll kind of continue
uh we have Belinda and Debbie Kathy from
sunny Southern California so I live in
Utah uh Northern is Utah so suburb of
Salt Lake City and it is raining raining
raining today um I’m B basically coming
in hot this morning uh if you were with
me last Saturday uh when we were done
last Saturday I said I got to go we got
to go pack because uh Sunday morning
Sunday morning Nick and I left for
Orlando um Nick’s my husband uh we are
empty nesters and it is the time of our
life when um sometimes we can just pick
up and go now for him it wasn’t a pick
up and go it was a um planned business
trip but for me I kind of picked up and
went with him although it had been
planned for me to go with him so uh we
flew to Orlando on Sunday morning and
that would have been last Sunday
the 20 21st as I look at the calendar
and we got home last night around 10
p.m. so when I say I’m coming in notot I
am really coming in hot um I had some of
what I needed to have done ahead of time
uh and then this morning it was a Mad
Dash to kind of get everything ready oh
Reggie’s such a good boy Reggie the cat
he just walked right in the room and he
just got in his little box on my craft
table so hopefully he stays there good
job buddy good job Rich oh he’s so cute
uh anyhow um yes so coming in hot and
when Nick says a bit of a hot mess this
morning I think that’s what he means
because it was you know running around
like a chicken with my head cut off but
that’s all right we’re here and we’re
ready to play um let’s see um so yes we
went from um beautiful warm hot weather
probably eight mid 80s Maybe uh partly
cloudy which was awesome and then lots
of humidity which not awesome that um we
are totally not used to here in Utah cuz
we are high mountain desert uh very
similar to Arizona except we get all
four seasons snow and and all the things
but uh no humidity so humidity is a
little interesting when you’re not used

uh had taken a trip to New York City
earlier this month and she we kind of

so uh one thing I did not get done this
morning was to draw our two Prize
winners from last week so um I will do
that this afternoon I apologize for that
it was just it didn’t was last on my
list and it didn’t happen so um I will
get that done for next week but we will
do two more prizes today uh the way you

uh leave a comment on the video when it

uh next Saturday morning right before we

Saturday is a very important holiday in
our little crafting world and that is
Saturday May 4th now I know some of you
that’s a very important holiday in your
world because it’s like the Star Wars
Day right like May the 4th be with you
um however in our world the crafting
world uh the first Saturday every year
is always International scrapbook day
Okay so um we celebrate we celebrate
that here because that’s what we’re
doing we are scrapbooking we’re memory
keeping we’re journaling we’re
storytelling whatever you want to call
it um it all encompasses kind of that so
we will celebrate next Saturday the 4th
2024 we will do another of our all day
listing sessions so if you haven’t done
one of those with me before it’s super
fun we will be together all day uh watch
for an email to go out um I’ll see if I
can’t get it out on Wednesday this week
so you just have kind of a little bit
more um a little bit more time to prep
if you’re prepping for
anything um but with that we do a
morning session which will usually go
probably from 9 to 1 probably 9: to 1
Pacific time we’ll take a 1 hour break
and then there’ll be an afternoon
session so which would be two I’m trying
to do the the the time change in my head
because I am mountain time then we’ll go
probably from like 2: to 6 all right um
they’re totally different sessions we do
different stuff the whole time I just
have to break it into two sessions so I
can get that hour break in between so I
can do a bio break and grab something to
eat and take a quick rest and then play
again uh I will have a number of um fun
things also going on that day actually
they’ll kick off on the 3 Friday the 3
um we’ll have a there’ll be a big
International scrapbook Day Sale uh and
I’ll do that that’ll be Friday Saturday
Sunday so 3rd fourth 5th
um some closeout some product that I
brought in specifically for that sale um
nothing recent though so don’t worry uh
nothing recently released will be on
sale um the other thing is I will um
launch the May stamp release the lay by
mail May stamp release six new stamp
sets for that so you’ll see those on
Friday morning the 3 and then also I
will have a brand new another brand new
Travelers notebook project kit uh that
one of the brand new stamps coordinates
with that so stay
tuned that’s a lot that’s a lot going on
but save the date Circle the fourth on
your calendar because that is a really
fun time and you don’t have to um
obviously if you can’t make it live you
don’t have to watch live because
everything once I do it is always here
on my YouTube channel the last four
years worth I don’t know 300 some odd
videos I think of our Saturdays together
which is kind of fun all right so um let

fourth so we will do um I do prizes as I
always do so there’s Afterparty prizes

we do our all day lives I also have live

as well so I think we always like to I
just saw Nick’s comment yeah um I always
like to have a little cheers in the
afternoon session so next Saturday we’ll
do a cheers in the afternoon session and
might have to Cheers with a margarita or
maybe a Paloma since uh the next day the
5th will be Cinco de um yes Nick said
just spent the last hour it wasn’t
really an hour honey trying to find a
picture for L it’s a group photo from
high school yeah needle and a Hy stack
so you know when you can I can picture
the photo it is from a dance in high
school and it must have been like a
girls dance I don’t remember um but uh
it was my big group of friends so there
were maybe like 10 or 12 of us in this
photo and it’s you know um at least for
me back in high school I graduated in
1986 um they always had like a
photographer and you could get the group
photo or whatever that is the photo I’m
looking for because I wanted to pair it
with one of our list today um our list
today that hopefully some of you won’t
be angry with me for because it makes us
all seem like we’re very old uh and that
list is um songs that are uh songs Rel
what what did I call it um songs turning
40 and 20 24 yeah songs that are turning
40 in 2024 and you may think oh my gosh
that’s so long ago that must be like I
don’t know the the masas and the Papas
uh yeah no that’s when I was in high
school not the masas and the Papas area
era like 82 to 86 so anyhow uh didn’t
find the photo so I have another photo
to use but if I find that photo I might
swap it out after the fact so we’ll see
about that um but honey thank you for
looking yes he did look for quite a well
but I just know where it is I can pick
picture and I can totally see it in my
head I just I don’t know who knows where
it is I’ll find it I’ll find it good

Colleen I love that it’s also start of
Colleen’s birthday week is that when is
your birthday Colleen I won’t ask how
old you are but when is your
birthday um because I have a pretty good

she’s Ju Just this week she was working
on her mixtape layout that I did last
year right so today will be another kind
of music uh themed list we usually do
kind of a music themed list every I
don’t know probably a couple times a
year I love music um and it kind of also
this list kind of ties in with one of
our lists from last week so um why don’t
I flip the cameras turn off the lights
turn on the lights and then we’ll take a
look at that list as we get started okay

that we did last week when we were

just moved that oh a little bit better
um little bit out of Center there it
will help us it will help me if I’m
centered right will help me if I’m
centered yes Colleen reminded me to plug
in my phone uh because everything that
we do is recorded all of this is done on
my phone and if
uh my phone dies guess what happens we
all go with it we all go with it collie
that is just bizarre I’m going to go way
over and let’s see what that
does come on just waiting for it let’s
have a little um let’s have a little
hydration break while we wait for
that I am about oh there we go that’s
better all right I don’t know I have
about a 15sec delay um um from what I do
to what I see because I watch right
along so I can uh follow along in the
chat but I can also see what I’m doing
well I can see what I’m doing anyway
anyhow all right so last week we did
three lists uh the list that we did we
started out with uh one called things
I’m going to do for someone else next
week and that was on April 20th so that
came from kind of something we did the
week prior
the week prior we did a list on things
I’m going to do for me this week so we
did that on
the uh 13th okay we did that list on the
13th things I’m going to do for me this
week then we followed it up last week
with things I’m going to do for someone
else so let’s see
um I’ve done one of those things and I
knew this was going to take about two
weeks even though I called it things I’m
going to do for someone else next week
uh I knew it would take me a couple
weeks just because we were we were out
of town last week so I did buy food and
snacks for Sam while he was here he
house sits for us and Cat Sits while
we’re gone since it’s his Kitty uh so I
did that um and then all of the rest of
these things I will be working on this
coming week but for this list we use
Simple stories simple vintage Essentials
color palette mouth right but beautiful
collection um lots of beautiful bright
colors as we are working as I’m working
on list um the product that you see me
use you’ll find on my website at L
mymail.com so in the um Dropbox excuse
me Dropbox in the description box down
below you will see a link well you’ll
see lots of links but one of the links
you will see is a link to the products
that I am using today all right like
this was last week so you wouldn’t see
it but you could go to the website and

for uh
simple Essentials color palette and then
you would see any of that product how
about that okay so that was our first
list our second list this oh my goodness
we had so much fun with this um this was
growing up Fillin the blank and um I
suggested what I did was I um included
My Generation so there are seven
generations uh and they all have their
different names and obviously their time
frames if you want to know a little bit
more about that list if you’re not
certain what generation you are uh you
can either Google The Seven Generations
or if you go to the blog post um from
the 20th um I have a link to a website
that tells you what the Seven
Generations are and defines or you know
gives you the date range for them but
anyhow so we had so much fun with this
list growing up Gen X uh Gen X is um uh
let me look because I wrote it down for
last week Gen X
is 65 to 80 so if you were born in 1965
through 1980 you are a gen xer um but we
just had a lot of fun reminiscing about
uh the different things uh that reminded
us of growing up during this time like
mixtapes and um lip smackers and
watching the love booat and Fantasy
Island on Saturday night and calling the
movie theater for the movie times
because you either had to do that or
look in the newspaper this was a really
really really really fun one Wanda yes
um Let me let me do that let me just
make a quick note here um Wanda had
asked last week if I would put this up
in the Facebook group and I said I’d be
more than happy to when I get home so
now that I am home I will add the Gen X
list
to Facebook group if you’re not in the
Facebook group it’s lay by mail you’ll
see a lay by mail page on Facebook and
then a lay by mail Facebook group so um
group you just have to you know ask to
be I don’t know accepted or invited or
whatever uh and then I will let you in
but we have a lot of fun in the Facebook
group lots of people share their lists
and just chatting and lots of squirrel
memes on the Facebook group as well so
yes I will for sure um I will for sure
post that this afternoon I’ll I’ll
photograph it and post it so that one I
used the simple stories true colors
collection just because it was really
fun and bright and kind of from that era
like we joked about how the TV back in
the day at midnight the TV would
basically turn off there were no more
channels uh broadcasting and so the
national anthem would play and then
you’d have that funny pattern on the TV
uh roller skating and radios or um boom
boxes right boom boxes uh film cameras
and yeah we had a lot of fun with that
list um I think I added one more thing
to it after we were done this was
feeling very plain up here uh and I
added that little thing just to kind of
fill it up a little bit all right then
our last list our last list um was in
the news in the news is a list that we
do once a month uh where I just recap
the news from the month so um I we had
not done the month of March yet and so
we did in the news for March uh I used
the typewriter stamp from the original
in the news Stamp Set uh and then I also
used the dye with that so the new metal
diey so I stamped it and then ran it
through my Dy machine while we were
listing and uh popped that out pair to
that one with the in the news um one of
the in the news stamps from the in the
News 2 stamp set and then this so if you
were with me last week I was not happy
with what I had done here this is how I
ended up but um I had stamped um
this um definition that comes from the
in the news to stamp set so I had
stamped that definition directly on the
page and I just didn’t like the way it
looked it was way too plain and boring
it just did not make me happy so I said
you know what I’m not happy with it but
I’ll figure it out I’ll come back to it
and I let that kind of muddle around in
my brain for a little while before I put
everything away and I said you know what
I’m going to do I have have extra cuz I
had cut a strip off of this background
paper said I am going to stamp that on
that background paper and put it there
and then it all kind of pulled together
really well so you kind of have this um
kind of a little visual triangle going
on here and I say visual triangle
starting with um oh my gosh I just
totally drew a
blank um Iris I wanted to call her Alice
Iris appell so she had um passed away in
March um in just very much a fashion
icon and known for her kind of quirky
sense of fashion but um this we kind of
have this little visual triangle
happening here now so here before it was
just to it wasn’t it wasn’t enough of an
anchor so by stamping it on to that
pattern paper and then in hearing it it
kind of helps to pull all of that
together all right so those were our
three last for last three
last our three lists for last week how
about that our three lists for last week
so
uh starting with our first list today
hello Karen Haynes our first list today
is um top five and I had suggested here
you kind of run with this list however
you want to run with it a top five list
is a really easy list because you can
basically um pull a list from anything
you want uh maybe your top five favorite
foods maybe your top five um favorite
things that happened last week maybe
your top five five things that you like
to do on your board maybe your top five
friends maybe your top five kids maybe
your top five pets maybe your top five
favorite flowers so it’s really kind of
a fill-in the
blank so for me my list uh this week is
going to be the top five um basically
the top five from our trip uh if you had
just popped in and and you weren’t with
me last week and um missed what I had
said earlier this morning Nick and I
were in Orlando he was on a business
trip and I tagged along and because we
were in Orlando you know what we had to
do right um his the the the conference
that where he was um was at one of the
Disney properties and so when on a
Disney property you got to go to Disney
so we did so we did so uh my list is
going to be about the top five kind of
things highlights I guess top five
highlights if you will from our trip
this past week for those of you that are
12×2 scrapbookers uh I think this is one
of the easiest type of lists that you
can incorporate into your 12 X12
scrapbooking uh I have been teaching for
years and years and years and when I
teach in person a lot of times I ask a
question and I always get the same
answer the question I ask is um how many
of you journal on your layouts or
Journal uh write on your projects in
your mini books or whatever whatever it
is and not many people raise their hand
um and there are varying reasons I don’t
like my handwriting but most often it’s
I don’t know what to say I don’t know
what to say I’m not a writer so I just
don’t journal on my on my projects doing
a list like this on your 12 x 12 pages I
think is super easy because if I was
doing a layout a 12 x 12 layout or right
now maybe a 12 x 12 spread so two 12 x
12 pages and I had a ton of photos and I
wanted to use all of the fun products
but I did want to do a little bit of
journaling I could just say these are
the top five moments of our trip or trip
top five or Orlando top five or Disney
top five and then literally all I have
to do is make a list when I’m making a
list I don’t have to be Earnest Heming
way right really it’s just the facts
number one this number two this and so
forth so um I this is one of those
easiest one of the easiest types of
lists that you can translate into other
types of projects if you don’t TR
travel’s notebook with me or normally
list with me okay all of that said uh
this will be a two-page
list um I am going to do list over here
with a title and then over here I have
some photos that uh I took on the trip
so that little guy is in one of the many
many many many Disney Stores and this
store was so cool because it had um all
these big those big like Marquee letters
and in one section it said ears and in
one section it said fashion and one
section it said I don’t remember what
else so um I took a photo using the
depth of um field the portrait mode on
my phone where I focused on that in the
background and then my ears were super
blurry in kind of the foreground so
that’s one photo I’ll use um this is
photo while Nick and I were on the bus
headed over to uh WT okay Magic Kingdom
I don’t know does why don’t they call it
Disney World I always s it’s called
Disney World but Magic Kingdom okay
right like the Florida Disneyland the
Florida Disneyland uh so that’s the
second photo and then the third photo um
little obviously photo of um little
Mickey Mouse in front of the castle so
those are the three photos I have sized
them 2 and 1/2 by 2 and 1/2 and then cut
them out so they will pretty much here
fit top to bottom so kind of going that
route but I will also have kind of a
pattern paper over here but I don’t know
yet what kind of pattern paper I want to
do here until I kind of start working on
this so um I know I want some kind of
pattern
oh all right well this kind of works
well right this works pretty well that
red floral because it kind of reminds
you of red polka dots red and white
polka dots Disney right maybe this could
go
here maybe this could go here and then
what what if we did something like this
here now I might have to swap these out
let’s just see let’s just see because
this having this background maybe a
little bit too yeah I thought so I need
something I think that’s a little bit
more I don’t know maybe it’s okay let’s
just keep looking let’s keep looking ooh
okay maybe this one let’s look at this
one um The Collection that I’m using in
this spread is the simple stories pack

there I feel like I might need just a
little tiny um border for the photos so
kind of something like that where you
just have a little bit tiny border but

what about this one maybe this little
maybe this one um if you have not seen
this collection before and you’re like
oh I love this bright travel collection
um you should check out
the Let’s Get Away mini Book Project kit
that I have on the website right now
because it is so if we did
this now and we did these little guys
right here just a little tiny bit now
what I’m afraid here is that we kind of
lose as much as I like this paper I
don’t think I will use it here because
then we lose a lot of the words so it
makes it a lot more difficult to see
what those words say right um another
thing to be aware of if anytime you’re
using a paper like this that has a lot
of words on it um you would really want
to be careful of what you’re covering up
sometimes if you are covering up let’s
see um you just have I don’t know if
we’ll if we’ll
run into this anywhere but I mean this
wouldn’t be bad but sometimes like this
right there like that word would say
lore or that word would say lace now
those aren’t bad but sometimes there are
words that you um that you cover up part
of the letters and then you end up with
maybe a word you wouldn’t necessarily
want to see on one of your projects like
how about the word pass let’s say on
here I had the word pass and then I just
covered up the p and then that leftt me
with ass and then it would look kind of
odd there so when you’re using paper
that has words on it just double check
make sure you’re not leaving yourself
with a word that you might not uh want
to use so as much as I love that don’t
think that’s going to work there but it
could may I don’t know we’ll see about
it over here so then if we went this
route I still need something but I don’t
want to use the blue I don’t think
because then it makes it look a little
bit to maybe red white and blue I mean
nothing wrong with red white and blue
right what about this yellow
maybe I’m just looking for a little bit
I just want a little tiny bit just to um
I think I think the yellow I think the
yellow all right so let’s do this let’s
grab um our
trimmer and I am going to first of off
um trim this guy uh this will be my
background paper uh I am working with
paper from a 6×8 pad and um it’s
primarily I pretty much use 6×8 pad
almost exclusively when I’m working in a
traveler’s notebook uh traveler’s
notebooks that I use uh the size is
called standard wide so 5 in wide by 8
and 1/4 in tall so when we have a 6×8
paper on a 5 by 8.25 surface I just need
to trim off a little bit and I have a
nice sized pattern so
4.75 is what I have there now what I can
do here is I will let’s just make sure I
know the order that I would like these
in I think that works all
right add a little bit of adhesive how’s
everybody doing this
morning how are you how are you today
this lovely Saturday nice spring
Saturday some people it’s snowing some
people it’s raining
some people it’s quite warm right just
depends where you are and actually some
of you it’s not morning like Martin it
is not morning for you in the
Netherlands right uh and then we usually
have a couple um ladies from Australia
and New Zealand that pop on but it is
definitely ooh okay it is definitely
morning for them but it’s actually way
morning cuz it’s probably like 3:00 in
the morning for them so morning for some
uh and actually I guess if you were East
Coast it is now
afternoon so I should just say how’s
your day going how about that how is
your day
going uh so Wanda says she stays they
stay a week and go to all four Parks
Animal Kingdom Epcot Magic Kingdom and
the other one un uh Hollywood Hollywood
Studios Hollywood Studios Universal
Studios I don’t know which one it is uh
we just went to two uh we went to two we
were there I shouldn’t say just um cuz
Nick was working lots so all right let’s
do this will give us our kind of nice
little border
here there we go there’s our nice little
border for
our little thing going on here with our
photos so I would say not even half the
time I’d say most of the time my lists
don’t have photos with them right most
of the time my lists don’t have photos
um and that’s not because I don’t love
photos it’s not because I don’t take a
lot of photos but sometimes you have
lists that you just don’t really have a
photo for or sometimes you don’t want to
take the time right and that’s just
being honest sometimes you just don’t
feel like you have the time to take the
photo or find the photo right all right
I don’t think I will quite
yet um put this down I know I’m okay
with putting the base down all right I
know I’m okay with putting this down but
until I work a little bit more on the
left side of the page I am not quite
ready to put that down yet
because I’ll want to figure out I may
end up leaving it a little bit more left
Justified so I can put something over
here or centered I’m usually not much of
a centered person so I’ll probably end
up doing something like that and then
putting something over here but I don’t
know what it looks like so we’ll just
kind of leave that to percolate a little
bit in our minds okay so as much as I
can I try to sketch things out this one
actually I think I know what this looks
like in my head that’s a chair so uh I’m
thinking I have this chair dcut that
will go there but uh with this one there
are my three
photos uh for My
Title I need some white white card stock
now did I put that away I was getting it
out of the suitcase because hold on oh I
had to walk across the room for a sec I
was getting out of my suitcase this
morning because I took a whole extra
carry on since snck was working quite a
bit um I took some projects with me to
work on uh and I had my white card stock
in there so for those of you that uh
have done the um document your travels
eord
tomorrow late afternoon or Monday I’ll
have one more segment it’ll be it’s the
second to the last video uh in that
whole e course so I’ve had a lot of fun
playing with that one so stay tuned for
that anyhow I was doing some work in the
hotel while I was gone okay so knowing
this is here knowing we need something
over
here uh I’ll be doing a little stamping
yeah too much red too much red um I
could do little suitcases little
suitcases could be fun right if I did
little
suitcases might be able to work
in something like this over
here maybe that might be cute right
because then I’m kind of tying things
together a little bit I think that might
work so far if we do Sno cases let’s go
ahead and trim that to four and
3/4 that guy I will go there so this um
particular spread even though for me it
has everything to do with Disney the
product that I’m using obviously is not
Disney um that will come later uh this
year where I’ll start incorporating some
Disney product into my list because
simple stories has some super fun things
coming out Disney
related all right let’s try that just
needed to make that a little bit
narrower okay so for my list I’ll be
doing my list on white card stock and I
would like that to
be three and 3/4 I’m trying to remember
what I usually do I think it’s usually
about 3 and 3/4 by
seven does that sound about
right let’s see
all right so that is 3 and 3/4 by right
3 and 34 by 7 and A4 that is what that
piece is okay we can get our trimmer out
of the way for a
while don’t need that to be in our way
uh Tammy Tammy said haha L I love your
sketches yeah well it always it’s just
it’s always it always gives me an idea
uh they get quite amusing sometimes I
mean you guys didn’t know that I am
quite the graphic designer you did not
know that did you like look it this is
from the 13th that’s how talented I am
when it comes to like being a graphic
designer that’s a hidden talent that not
a lot of people know about me I can I
can really like take what’s in my brain
and and and make it uh easily
recognizable on the paper yeah I am no I
am no graphic artist
I’ve never claimed to be I play one on
TV no uh I’ve never yeah definitely not
me that’s funny all right so for this
I’m going to use a couple of different
stamps for my title um also well towards
the bottom I’m going to use its a date
the brand new it’s a date too we’ll use
travel mini icons and we’ll use list
Builder travel and we’ll also use Reggie
Alpha all right so this this list is
going to have four four four four let’s
just do this let’s we can leave that
there but this guy we’re going to work
off the page this guy we’re going to
work off the page all right
so um what I thought that I would
do is I thought I would use this
guy this is the list Builder
travel um I am so I store my stamps in
my stamp storage sleeves so there are
four sizes 3×4 4X 6 5×7 and 6 by8 I put
um when I open up a new stamp um and
transfer it out of the package it came
in into a storage sleeve like this I
always cut a piece of white card stock
and that lives in the back of the stamp
storage sleeve because when you go to
pull the stamp out sometimes um it
doesn’t it it gets a little stuck the
reason it gets a little stuck is you
have plastic and plastic so that plastic
tends to stick together so if I have my
white cord stock stored in the back I
just pull it out of the back put it in
the front and pull that out together and
it slides right out usually I just do
all that without saying but I thought
I’d explain that so this stamp set has
the word visited so I thought maybe what
I would
do I thought I would do you
visited and then I would do uh Reggie
Alpha and then Orlando so I’m thinking
visited and then uh smelling Orlando
right below
that
um yeah so I’ve pulled out a couple of
different inks but I think prize ribbon
is the one that I will use so let’s look
um prized
ribbon I have swatched all of my inks
right so that it makes it super easy to
find what I’m looking for I think prize
ribbon of my Blues um even though
probably chip Sapphire is a little bit
closer to what is used in this
collection parts of it I guess I like
prize ribbon because prize ribbon is a
nice bright blue so that’s what I’m
going to use so
let’s
decide I think I might pull in a little
bit more yellow over here now I won’t
stamp in yellow because if I stamp in
yellow it will be hard hard to see oh
Tammy I didn’t take offense at all Tammy
said JK L I love your layouts no no I
didn’t take offense at all not even um
all right I’d like to bring in a little
bit more yellow to this side right this
is the left side of the spread but I
don’t want to stamp um in yellow I don’t
want to do two different colors cuz I
feel like that’ll just be a little bit
too much um and sometimes when you’re
stamping in yellow it’s a little bit
hard to see so instead of stamping in
yellow I’m going to Ink the edges of
that white card stock and I think I will
go
with mustard seed let’s go with mustard
seed all right there is
that
and there
is that
and my little CLE okay so this is the
way that I store my little foam my
little foam
dobbers um this little storage case it’s
one of the products you’ll see on my
website it comes with the storage case
two sheets of whichever ink that you use
distress oxide distress inks Gina K
stamp Market there are a number of them
on there um and then you have enough
40 okay so you end up with 40 Little
Boxes you have 40 um pre-punched little
circles and then you have 40 um of the
little velcro pieces so you can put your
little storage thing all together uh all
right so we have that I’ve got my
Mustard Seed I have my Mustard Seed
there and I’m going to just do that kind
of a little circular
motion and I’m just going to Ink the
edges so it will kind of make those
edges is not so
harsh uh the other thing that it’s
really going to help with because there
is a white base to that pattern right
all those suitcases are in a white base
uh it’s going to make this piece not
kind of float into the background it
will help it sit on top uh because that
white won’t blend in with the white
background because we’re adding our
little yellow um yellow ink to the
edges my friends this is about as mixed
medium as I get so if you are looking
for um any kind of mixed media
techniques go visit my dear friend Vicky
booten because that
is that’s about as Mi media I get unless
Vicki’s in town giving me my own private
uh mixed media lesson and then we need
to do another one of those well she
needs to come again she needs to come
see me again so we can do another one of
those oh my goodness we had
plun we did a live together uh I think
last she was in town it was a hoot it
was a hoot hi JLo nice to see you I need
to get that one out of there that one is
too

the edges adds so much so look it there
we go that’s what the edges looked like
linked or excuse me ink right and then
when we look at it without look it it
just see just kind of me takes it from M
to not makes it from I don’t know

you can tell it brings it up a notch
right it brings it up a notch all
righty um so again I’m using pack your
bags from simple Stories the nice thing
about this collection is the color
palette that color palette goes with
pretty much anything it could be a trip
to Disney it could be a trip to the
Bahamas it could be a trip to New York
City it could be a trip to Texas really
um to Paris um doesn’t really matter
because it’s such a good kind of neutral
neutral when I you know neutral I don’t
mean like Tans I mean neutral lots of
different kind of Base colors to work
with all right so visited we’ll go there
and then I will stamp Orlando now before
I do that I wonder if I want to do
some kind of
little let’s look for a sticker maybe a
little sticker up in here oh well I
could do a sticker or I could do one of
these guys that might be fun maybe I
do this little airplane
stamp let’s
look oh I’ve got yellow ink on my finger
don’t want that don’t want that um
that’s a little good public service
announcement when you’re inking
especially if you’re inking edges it is
a good idea to have either a baby wipe
or a wet paper towel or something uh
near you or go wash your hands before
you continue because um as you can see
let’s try that again I have a yellow ink
on my thumbs this is why I don’t do
mixed media cuz I make a mess um but I
have ink on my fingers right which means
I could easily transfer it to my project
so thank wow to pow there we go W from
Wow to pow there we go uh Louisa are we
planning to do another session together
Louisa not right now um and really
either Vicky needs to come here or I
need to go there uh I was there um she
lives outside of Toronto kind of Niagara
Falls area um I was there Nick and I
were there uh last
June um but we didn’t do any we didn’t
do any live or anything uh she needs to
come to Utah and then we could do it for
sure so if we did I bet we could do that
little airplane there would be kind of
cute wouldn’t it I think we should do
that all right or I could do the little
GE tag right if I did the little Geo tag
then that no I just feel like the
airplane I think the airplane is going
to be good so we’re going to get the
airplane
out and I need need some stamping
blocks and my little testing
notebook now this is what happens this
is how I lose things this is how I lose
stamps because I get them out and then I
start bringing all kinds of other things
on top which is not good all right
so we can go
here I think maybe you know what I will
do for my little airplane I am going to
do it in Black I think so I’ve grabbed
um one of two these come in a
set uh these are round acrylic stamping
blocks they come on a set and these
you’ll see on the website but these are
a very nice size for your little mini
icons all right there is a new Mini icon
coming out uh you will see that this
Friday as part of the May
release six new stamp sets coming out as
part of the May release uh they will I
will um put them up for
pre-order look at cute little airplane
right I will put them up for
pre-order uh on Friday the 3rd of May
20202 202024 2024 and that will be this
coming Friday and then they will ship uh
a couple weeks later uh hopefully about
two weeks later all right so let’s get
this
ready I think if our little airplane
goes right here
little airplane clean this guy off and
put him
away um we did Louisa we did a um a
bubble blowing painting technique and
that was definitely a Vicky thing um
that was oh my gosh I don’t know if if
you I will you know what I’ll do I will
um once we’re done I’ll post the link to
it in the Facebook group how about that
in the L by mail Facebook group let me
just make a note to do that uh because
it was a
hoot um link Vicky L
YouTube uh basically what we did was oh
my gosh it was funny we were so silly
Nick even joined in the fun he played
announcer it was quite funny
um oh anyhow so basically what we did
was um VI Vicky did L things and L did
Vicky things it was quite a bit of fun
all all right
visited visited okay so I am pulling out
different size stamping blocks let me
just get this a little bit closer to me
when I have a larger stamp basically
anything other than like a mini icon or
um one of the little bullet stamps I
will put the stamp the stamp side down
on my work surface and then I will pick
it up with my block I think that is a
much easier way to get a stamp straight
on your block as opposed to trying to
place it all right
so let’s ink up
visited get that nice and
Inky and I always test I always always
always oh so nice I always recommend
that you test stamp first
um you want to test stamp first to make
sure that uh there are no little um
hairs or fibers in your stamp uh that’s
going to prevent ink from adhering to
the stamp right so when you stamp you’ll
end up with a little you know Mark where
there’s no ink because of the hair fiber
um you want to double check to make sure
that you like the color you want to
double check to
make sure you have a really good feel
for the amount of pressure that you need
to apply okay so um different stamps
require different pressure if you have a
super fine stamp maybe small really fine
like maybe one of these little word
strips uh you don’t need to press very
hard if you press hard it’s going to
basically flatten out the rubber the
material and it’s going to make it kind
of look really blurry um so sometimes
you just don’t have a good feel for how
much pressure you need to apply so if
you test stamp first then you’re good
then you know right then you
know um also if you’re spelling like I’m
about ready to spell uh the word Orlando
always good idea to test stamp first to
make sure number one that it’s straight
but number two that you’ve spelled it
correctly right I would much rather
figure out by my test stamping first
that I misspelled something uh as
opposed to
um finding that out after I had stamped
right on my project all right so what
I’m going to do here I am going
to draw a
little line with a
pencil because I am going
to stamp each of those letters
individually okay and that’s just me
that’s just a personal preference um I
prefer stamping letters individually as
opposed to stamping them at once all in
one line like basically lining it up on
a stamping block and this is kind of an
example why in this case I had spelled
kindness kindness uh on my stamping
block uh and then stamped at one time
when I do that I can only get my letters
so close together because um of the
little material rubber okay R
photopolymer um that is around each
stamp so in this case I couldn’t get
them as close together as I wanted so it
takes a little bit more time but I
prefer the look um so that’s what I’m
going to do but since I can’t
necessarily assure that I’m going to
have them all straight because there’s
no line here I need to give myself an
imaginary line uh but o o I need to
write this down um because I’d like to
see o r r l a
n d o so my L is taller and my D is
taller so I kind of need to keep that in
mind as to what I need here in my little
pencil
so let’s see if that is about
right and then I’ll come back in later
and erase
that so now I need that little guy again
again and I am going to I I’m going to
have everything be lowercase because
everything there in the visited is
lowercase so I am going to do
lowercase oopsie couple letters came up
there there’s the E and there’s the I so
this stamp set that we’re using is
Reggie Alpha there are two versions of
Reggie Alpha there’s a Reggie Alpha and
then there’s a Reggie Alpha
outlined so um it is kind of the well
the negative the outlined version of the
same Alpha and yes it is named after
Reggie the cat um this Stamp Set came
into be before Reggie became our cat at
that time it was Sam’s
cat um Sam our younger son so if I do
that
oh are I think I need to be a little bit
more over a little bit bit o r l a n d o
maybe just a little bit more maybe there
I think we’ll go right below the
airplane if I go right below the wheels
let’s just
look just going to kind of fake this
here so I can get a feel
ah so I’m glad I did that because I
would have run out of room so we need to
go way further back basically where I
started my line H so if we go like
this even a little bit
further o r l a n d o okay that’s good
we’re good move all those little guys
away and my o is going to start right
there um so Reggie is named after our
cat slam’s cat uh the new Olive Stamp
Set uh is named after our older son jack
and his girlfriend have three cats one
of them one of them is named Olive I
always forget what the second one’s
named uh but the third one the third one
um can never have a the third one will
never have an alphabet stamp named after
it and this is why we’re having a
squirrel moment here so quick little
squirrel
moment uh the third cat is a stray that
they adopted um they found it in the
parking lot of a Chinese
restaurant uh and the cat was really
hungry and it was eating out of the
garbage so they rescued the cat took it
to the vet had shots kept it um
quarantined from their other cats until
it was okay that cat’s name is wanton
because they found him in a in a parking
lot of a a Chinese restaurant Chinese
and really it was Chinese food so I
think that’s okay to say um but wanton
there won’t be we won’t do it we won’t
do a wanton name stamp we’ll do ol olive
olive can’t remember the other cat’s
name we’ll do Olive and then we’ll do
another the other cat and then the cats
will be done because they’ll be nor more
cats
all right
oh uh May 4th is also the Kentucky Derby
oh my goodness look at that lots and
lots of um things happening on May 4th
this year Kentucky Derby uh if you’re a
Star Wars fan May the 4th be with you
and then um and then International
scrapbook
day um oh so Kentucky Derby has anyone
ever had a mint
julip mint julip so Kentucky Derby let
me just expl explain Kentucky D Derby in
case you’re not from the US or in case
you just don’t know what Kentucky Derby
is Kentucky Derby is a horse race a very
famous horse race uh it’s part of the
what is it called the the the I don’t
know one of the big races that you could
be the grand champion I don’t know um
one of you the the the anyhow I don’t
remember
um anyhow Kentucky Derby so um it’s
quite the fancy Derby it’s quite the
fancy horse race a lot of times the
Triple Crown thank you Colleen I knew
you I knew someone would come and clutch
for me yes Triple Crown uh if you are a
horse that wins and the trainer and the
owner and all that right um if you are a
horse that wins all three the Press
right the Kentucky Derby I don’t
remember what the other one is anyhow
it’s a big deal but Kentucky Derby big
party you know um lots of people in
fancy clothes well sometimes people have
Kentucky Derby parties the Belmont there
we go the Belmont thank you um so they
big parties and they dress up and
there’s a big thing about hats um and
women wearing these like just such
elaborate hats right and so uh one of
the things that they have at the
Kentucky Derby or one of the things that
some people have ooh I got a little high
there okay hang on I shouldn’t say that
that sounded odd when I said I got a
little High there I meant I got a little
high with my letter L not you know
something um anyhow one of the
Traditions is a I’m an adult beverage
called a mint Jep a mint Jep well I
thought oh my goodness I bet a mint
julip would be amazing cuz I like minty
things um yeah mint julip is definitely
not my thing I I did not taste any mint
in it at all and it just tastes like
what is it bourbon bourbon B oh I’m sure
it’s bourbon Kentucky bourbon right
bourbon o yeah no I say I pass on the
mint julip pass on the mint julip Louisa
said she’s had a mint julip at
Disneyland now Louisa because Disneyland
did it have alcohol in it did it have Al
Al did it have did it have alkohol in it
did it have alcohol in it um because I
know Disneyland sometimes it depends on
where you where you if you can drink or
not at Disneyland right
um all right so somebody left a comment
that I want to talk to for a second
um where did that go oh marily lee said
would it be easier to start with the a
in the middle than work your way out so
possibly um yes and no usually I don’t
do that marily and this is why and this
is just lay you know this is just me um
because so what marily was suggesting is
if you have the world word Orlando 1 2 3
4 5 6 seven it has seven letters so
marily is saying hey a would be in the
middle could you put the a in the middle
and then work your way left and work
your way right
um sometimes it will work and sometimes
it won’t it depends on the width of the
letter right because like the L in this
case is narrower than the a or is
narrower than the D so um sometimes you
can do that sometimes not just depends
right so generally I don’t do that
because then I think oh I’ll do that and
then I get in trouble because it it’s
not exactly
even um this to me even though it takes
longer uh I just like the letters to be
closer together that’s why I do it
that’s why I do
it Orlando and it’s not quite straight
but that’s all

D and that’s when I always have to make
sure I didn’t accidentally grab the B
because the B looks like the D when
you’re looking at the back of the sheet

a do as I say not as I do um this guy uh
I am cleaning with my stamp shammy and
over here I have my stamp shammy
in a this is a salt seller so it keeps
um it moist as long as the uh lid is
closed because as I’m working for you
know 3 or 4 hours or whatever it is here
that I’m doing um that will tend to dry
out if it’s in open
air you can use that you can use a
tupperware anything that has a lid on it
if you’re using a stamp Shamy anything
that has a lid on it um and I’m a little
bit crooked but it’s okay um anything
that has a lid on
it uh to keep your little stamp shammy
from drying
out but what I sometimes fail to
remember I fail to remember
to close it I mean open it so right now
um it’s closed which I want it to be
closed while I’m working but if I for
forget to open it up when I’m done with
it and even if lay it out like that then
what happens it sits in the washing
machine my clothes sit in the washing
machine overnight or for a day and then
what happens when you open the washing
machine to get your clothes out stinky I
can smell that’s a little stinky I need
to just wash it just need to wash it

uh I’m going to go with this little guy
so I have all of the months and then I

they all will fit the width of your
standard wide insert so um these are
definitely wider they are a little bit
too wide for me to go at the bottom of
my piece but that’s
because I made it narrow right so if I
was stamping let’s say down here I have
plenty plenty wide that’s how it’s
designed to make make sure that you have
width to use on your insert if you’d
like all right let’s grab another
stamping block another
width and grab
that like so and I think this can also
go down there in the blue we’re just
sticking with one
color um yes that Chris oh I loved him
he was so good Debbie oh I’m excited for
you he was really good talented
oh my gosh so talented I have some of
his music on
my on my iPhone in my Apple music I
don’t use well probably Pandora too I
don’t use Spotify I don’t know I just am
used to Apple music so like the old
iTune so that’s what I use all righty so
here we go um this font that you see in
this particular stamp is the same font
that is used in in the new Olive Alpha
and it’s also the same font that’s used
in the months in what a
day look at
that is that nice just nice and nice and
fine and yep yep
yep all righty so I think we’re probably
done with that for a bit let’s go ahead
and clean it off we’re cleaning up all
of our stamps as we go
so much easier to clean as you
go um if you’re on a roll and you just
can’t clean your stamp right away that’s
okay um but make sure that
you um as soon as you can clean your
stamps because if
not uh it won’t hurt them it
just may be harder to clean once you
ready to clean
them well it shouldn’t hurt them I
should I shouldn’t say it won’t I don’t
know if you use something like stason
ink that’s pretty um I don’t know I
think stason is a pretty strong ink
because it stays on anything uh that you
might want to get it off your stamps
before you move on all right now I think
we might want to do well let’s wait
before we do anything down here let’s
wait how are my how are my fingers
looking I’ve got a little blue on them
so let’s get that taken care of so we
don’t end up with blue
fingerprints all right all right
so I feel like we should maybe come back
together here for a
minute and before we go too much
further and look to
see how these are looking side by side

colors there there’s kind of a mint
there’s a green there’s a red there’s a
pink there’s a yellow um the yellow I
don’t know let’s look I’m going to say
the yellow probably won’t work as
well because
it
um I don’t know if we’ll see it as
well since that was a little bit
wet I am drying that with a microfiber
towel
microfiber cloth uh before I stamp again
because I’m oh that actually might work

it and see if we like it
will be like that
there and then it’ll be next to this
here I think so let’s go with the yellow
uh so that yellow mustard seed it’s
bright enough that um we don’t have to

grandpa um as I was looking for the

so that is my grandpa and look it
there’s me and there’s my little sister
so this would have been um my
grandparents lived in
Anaheim and um this would have
been around the time and older as well
that he would take us uh when we’d go to
California he would take us to
Disneyland um and so anytime I go to
Disneyland even this was Magic Kingdom
um it just so many things walking in the
rides the smells the food um the sights
just remind me so much of my
grandparents so that was um that was
like one of the best things that was one
of the best things about our
trip another one Colleen are you still

there um that made me cry that one made
me cry so
12:34 um and I asked if Colleen was here
because um and they gave me chills I

uh Colleen says L Angel time hi Rie good
boy good boy uh look at what he just
brought
me uh he is an indoor cat this is going
to be another squirrel moment I’ll
finish that I’ll finish that thought in
a minute this is um squirrel moment so
Reggie brought me
this uh this is a priority mail bubble
envelope when you look closely there’s
all kinds of teeth marks all over it
he’s an indoor cat um cats the way that
they show love to you is um
often time they bring you things that
they have killed uh that’s their way of
showing love they’ll bring them to you
and basically say here you go I love you
they can’t speak this is how they show
their love Reggie uh he will now he just
went back downstairs again to get
another one of these he will for the
next little while keep bring he brings
these up in his mouth and drops them at
my feet and then meows and then I have
to tell him he’s a good boy so that’s
what’s going on all right uh
12:34 uh any time I see 12:34 1 2 3 4 on
a clock and I see it all of the time
just you look up at the clock and then
you just happen to see it and that’s the
time I’ve always felt like for whatever
reason that’s my grandma that’s my
grandma saying hey I’m thinking about
you or hey I’m here my grandmother you
know passed away years ago um but that
always is 12:34 is my angel time some
people call their angel time uh and so
here we are Nick and I are that day we
were at Epcot we’re walking underneath
the big you know the big Epcot sphere
and literally as soon as we start
walking under there 12:34 I look and I
start crying I’m like Nick it happens
all the time it’s uncanny Ry good
boy good
boy number two number two good kitty
good kitty you’ve got to recognize them
so they know that you know that they
know you know okay all right so yes that
was that was just like it that was just
Goosebumps it was a Goosebumps moment
and I said oh my gosh Nick I can’t wait
on Saturday and I’m going tell everybody
and I hope Colleen’s there because
she’ll totally get it because she always
reminds me of that time okay next up uh
shopping
for and
wearing Mickey
ears so
I bought myself two pair uh one when we
were in
Epcot um of the little orange bird the
kind of Disney orange bird and then uh
one for Disney and those were um some
princess ears you guys I’ve never had
ears before which is crazy I mean I’m
sure when I was a little little little
kid like I showed you I’m sure I had the
you know the ears that you’d put their
little your little name on the back but
I’ve never had ears before so yes I
bought myself two ears I bought um ears
for Jack our older son I bought ears for
his girlfriend we’re sending them them I
bought a hat for Sam and then
begrudgingly bought well I didn’t
begrudgingly buy it um Nick begrudgingly
wore them for one photo reie oh my
goodness you’re such a good boy oh my
goodness number three just so you know
uh these are in a separate place they
just keep getting put away your orders
don’t come like this okay so he can’t
get to the ones that your orders are
packed in but look it see all those
little yep that’s number three good
kitty she a good kitty huh all right yes
uh anyhow uh and then the ones that I
bought for Nick I’ll use them for photo
props cuz lots of Disney things coming
uh this year okay okay okay uh number
four number four um Nick and I
had um lunch
at the
pool
Cabana
before leaving for the airport that was
lovely sat outside and it was just
lovely lovely and then the last one uh
Peggy said I’ll take an envelope from
Reggie how cute is that oh my gosh I
guess it’s like his autograph right his
autograph his little teeth holes
Cindy said hers is 1111 right so do you
guys have times do you have like an
angel time or a time that um you always
see on the clock like you know it’s just
like when you start paying attention
you’re like oh my goodness that’s kind
of weird I always see that uh the last
one Nick and I both travel quite a bit
uh and with all the miles that we fly we
never have ever once in our life paid
for this uh but because we fly so much
um we got upgraded both ways so we both
um we first class seats going there and
coming back and when you don’t have to
pay for that uh that’s awesome so you
just feel like so that was really
awesome so we um we
both got oh got Gout got
upgraded so I was um writing and then
thinking ahead of what I was going to
say we both I was going to say got
upgraded and I th threw the the U and
the got we both got upgraded um to First
Class both
ways Nick 62 I used to be 510 I’m now
5’8 um from what I understand that’s
part of my neck compression issues uh I
don’t know if all of it is that I think
part of that is old age but um yes
anyhow we’re both on the taller side and
so having a little bit more leg room and
getting upgraded is definitely a bonus
okay so here we go here we go oh yes I

use uh double-sided tape along that edge
so that that page will stay down

the difference so we’ve been gone well

and Lizzy Lou um does retreats in in
Fallbrook California and uh we were both
at a retreat together I want to say last
October October right um and I can’t
remember if we were talking about

number for both of us um I can’t
remember how the discussion came about
um but I remember her daughter applying
to nursing school or applying for a job
something like that that had to do with
that right JLo and JLo was I think
talking to her daughter she was out for
a walk talking to a do her daughter JLo
I just need you to write in the in the
comments um and she her daughter was
nervous and worried and JLo was walking
and in this neighborhood and saw she
basically stopped at a and was just
talking and the house number on the
mailbox said 1 2 3 four and then her
daughter ended up getting the job
something like that but it was a very
cool was a very cool thing all right
so let’s see what else we may need to do
in here let me pull out the

are 16 colors of these stickers so I
have all 16 colors and um they also come
in a bundle of all 16 and when you buy
the bundle you get 15% off of the bundle
so I’m using my ruler uh I’m using my
ruler for two reasons the first being
that uh since I am working on a blank
piece of white um I don’t have lines so
if I use my ruler to line up all the
letter stickers then I can be somewhat
straight right somewhat straight but
there’s another reason I use a ruler
authors I’ll show you the other reason
shortly um Colleen I Colleen’s been
fortunate enough to have some of her
favorite authors autograph their books
oh that is really cool that’s so like
who who Colleen tell tell us authors
tell us who they might

different fonts on this uh these sticker

so you have um the one that we’re using
the sand syrup so syrup these little
guys like the little legs and feet uh so

lowercase uh sand serif uppercase
another sand serif lowercase and then
your little blocks and then your numbers
authors here’s the
R I really like this one I think it’s
really fun it’s a really fun font basic
but kind of has a little bit of fun to
it um Wanda The Collection I’m using is
the well R Collection by pretty little
Studio well

right because I don’t want to focus on
favorite I want to focus on
authors so we could
do um actually let’s see if we look at I
have two in here that’s funny I wonder

um that would be

maybe behind like that and then we did
favorite above
it like that I think that’s what we’re
going to do all
right okay so we need to place this guy
first because if he’s going underneath
authors this is the other reason why I
use um ruler because then I’m not trying
to figure out what this where the center
is it’s floating so I can have it float
around until I figure like figure that
it’s even right that’s pretty even and
then I need to make sure I have enough
room for the word favorite above
it maybe we want to go drop down just a
tad if favorite goes there and then this
little guy is just kind of going to come
in right here
maybe well that’s where it’s going
because that’s where it’s sticking all
right now to place uh those Alphas all I
have to do is press
down above the ruler and then gently
peel that ruler out from underneath okay
then we’ll go favorite right there

um usually what I do when I am inking
when I’m adding the ink to a stamp that
I um apply
the that’s not what I do I apply the ink
to the stamp like that as opposed to the
stamp to the ink um I feel like I get a
little bit more control and I don’t get
ink on the stamping block so that you
just saw me go back and forth they’re
trying
that oh my goodness look it it’s like
the perfect color it’s like the perfect
match favorite
authors henna artist she was at her
local library this week she also does
Zoom with book clubs oh that’s fun Hanna
artist so

say that because I’m blonde um she like
a Hanah tattoo artist I don’t know is
that a silly question to ask I don’t

so here we go we are starting here’s our
favorite authors there’s our nice little
book or a nice little chair we’re ready
to sit down and um have a comfy read if
you read where do you read where’s your
favorite place to read do you like to
read in bed do you like to read on the
couch do you have a favorite chair that
you curl up in the bathroom tub a lot of
people read in the bathtub right where
do you
read um for me airplane is a big one on
the airplane is a big
one if you were to get on an airplane
and I was by myself uh you would see me
get on the airplane and sit down and put
in my headphones almost immediately and
sometimes there’s not even music playing
on them it’s just because I like to read
and I’m not trying to be rude but I
might not want to talk to you now if I
knew you if you’re like oh my gosh and
we would probably chat the whole time
but if I didn’t know you I like to read
on an airplane so I might just
immediately put in my headphones before
you even sat down nothing against you
but I want to
read all right there we go okay let’s go
ahead
and um we can put this down

did um that is the white that I didn’t
even realize I was doing that I just
thought it was extra card stock I had
here I just cut up the back of the the
yeah um the the paper uh
packaging

put our little chair down and I can have
the chair I’m going to have the chair uh
probably
overlap no I won’t have it overlap we’ll
just do that
okay and then oh I remember what I was
going to say earlier so it’s interesting
whether you read or not to
me um and I don’t know this is probably
just my theory I think it whether you
read maybe depends on if you were
brought up reading right my mother Avid
Reader was always an Avid Reader like
the whole time I was growing up so that
for me I was always a big reader growing
up um but I know not everybody’s like
that like for example I don’t know if my
sister was a big reader right same mom
but I don’t know if my sister was a
reader I’ll have to ask her about that I
don’t know if she was or not is was I
don’t I know she’s not now um did some
medical things things that um make it
very difficult for her to read so um I
know that she’s not a reader now but
ebooks I’m pretty certain she listens to
ebooks and you know what that’s still
reading right just because if you if
you’re not like reading with your eyes
you can still be reading with an ebook
listening uh Justine raids on my lunch
at lunch hour at work uh very good de um
oh is that was that Gloria did you tell
me DG man 76 I read in bed but get
sleepy I love big comfy chair by the
fireplace oh yes I love to get in a big
comfy chair and like snuggle up with a
blanket it doesn’t even have to
necessarily be on me it can just be
snuggled with it and read oh I love that
I love it I love it all right so if we
do our little I don’t know this might be
a little odd this might be a little odd
here I wanted to get the green in but
maybe we’ll just put it
here I don’t like it here right doesn’t
work here because it’s just two side by
side I was thinking it might be like a
little you know plant next to the we’ll
just do it there the little plant that’s
next to the Georgia Georgia did I get it
did I say no I said Gloria oh I was so
close I got the G on the beginning and
the A on the end Gloria Georgia oh my
gosh uh guess what Georgia from now on
you’re Gloria no just kidding um all
righty so favorite authors now what I am
going to use I noticed um and these
little stick sckers do you see those
little um circles with the Stars inside
of the circle well I would like a bunch
of green ones of those maybe right green
or I don’t know maybe the yellow maybe
the yellow would be
fun we already know what the green is if
we want the green the yellow oh the
reason why I’m saying all of this is
because just so happened to have that
same stamp in bullets and more three so
I can kind of carry that along or oh you
know what I don’t know we might have to
do this stack of books maybe we need to
do the stack of books oh my goodness I’m
such a dingling guess what Terry are you
still here Terry let me just stick that
there for one second Terry look what I
had I had I could have look it I have
the little Mickey half ears on bullets
and more three oh well oh well oh well
that’s all right okay let’s get this put
away let’s get this put away and then we
will work
with um then we will work with oh I know
why cuz that top favorite stamp is
missing somewhere I don’t know where
that is must be why both of those are in
there I think we have to use the Shelf
the little shelf stamp instead of the
Little Star all right so do we want to
do the yellow or do we want to do the
green I feel like maybe we want to do a
yellowish so fossilized Amber maybe
let’s look what the yellow might
be red orange

that oh we’re Lo using Lots today maybe
wild honey let me grab that
too did we already use
just not put away from last time okay so
we’ll try both we’ll try both of those
we’re not quite sure but I do feel like
I want to do another a little underline
here just to separate just a little
visual separator my goodness what’s Nick
doing in the other room can you guys
hear that he’s like banging all the pots
and
pans all right wonder what he’s cooking
in there popping a little pink from the
pillow so the pillow um is actually
really like the fossilized Amber unless
you mean that little
pink I’m not sure and said my mom loved
to read that is where we got our love
also and um Georgia I love it Georgia
said a lot of people call me Gloria
that’s funny that is funny okay
um all right let’s talk about uh this
little guy so I have popped that stamp
that is the books stamp it looks like a
little books on a shelf I’m putting that
on the end of a stamping stylus so
stamping Stylus
is um one of my
products that is um designed to work
with your little teeny tiny uh bullet
stamps cuz the stamp is so tiny even if
you put it on a little block like that
it’s going to be a little bit harder to
handle just because it’s so tiny and
then you might have problem with
pressure so that’s where the stamping
stylist comes into play little teeny
tiny and it’s the shape and length of
what we’re used to like a pen or pencil
so it’s not foreign to our little hand
as we’re trying to stamp

goodness that would you believe it it
that just like I hit the edge of this
and it just popped off oh my goodness
come on oh here it is I heard it hit the
ground okay oh that’s a long way down
okay we did lots of walking this past
week all right so as I’m positioning it
on here there’s obviously a direction to
this stamp the little books right on the
stamping stylist there’s a little
sticker that sticker is there for a
reason because it gives you an
orientation point on that stamp since
you can’t see where you’re stamping and
you want those books to roughly be in
the same kind of General um lining up
generally every time if I line it up so
as long as I seen that that little
squirrel in the same place every time
then my stamp is aligned correctly when
I stamp it so let’s
look that
is uh Wild
Honey okay and let’s clean it off and
dry it off I want to dry it off right
away before I put on a new ink color the
reason in is we’re using
um
a we are using distress oxide ink which
is a pigment-based ink it is water
reactive pigment-based ink water
reactive so if you still have any kind
of moistness or moisture or moistness
moisture or dampness on your where is my
stinking thing um on there it is on your
stamp um the ink will react to it and um
it it will react it may not look the way
you want so I
am cleaning off a color uh it’s also
important to clean off the color because
um pigment-based inks will uh take a
second to dry so while they’re wet they
would react to each other uh and give
you a different color than probably you
were looking for anyhow so cleaned that
all in between and then also dried it
all right so very similar right those
colors are very similar I think I like
um fossilized Amber a little bit more
than the um wild honey so that’s what
I’m going to go with fossilized Amber so
to make my list I am going to stamp my
little
books like that and then I’ll start my
list one of my very very very favorites
is Jodie pult
one of the very first books I read of
hers was on an
airplane if you’ve read this book uh you
know that on an airplane is probably not
the best place to read it it was called
the PCT and it was a PCT about um two
teenagers that had a suicide pack um I
very much like her writing style it was
oh my God like sobbing on the airplane
reading a book but I love I love jod
pult um also very much enjoy
Colleen
Hoover uh she is a I don’t know I don’t
know how long she’s been around um in my
book my book in my book she’s kind of a
newer author um just because I haven’t I
don’t know it’s only been the last
couple of years that I have read any of
her books so I don’t know if she was
around before that but she is like a
super popular in kind of that genre
right now um another one that I’ve just
forever loved legal thriller right John
Grisham um very much enjoy his books
easy now um these are all easy reads to
me okay these are all easy reads I am
not um I’m not I historical fiction is
not my thing science fiction is not my
thing um non-fiction in a lot of cases
is not my thing because when I read I
like to escape like I like beach reads I
like to be able to like go on a trip and
be able to read and pick it up and put
it down pick it up and put it down and
not be trying to kind of keep track of
what’s happening so um easy
reads uh Nicholas Sparks is another
one so I’d say like jod bult um Nicholas
Sparks uh Nicholas Sparks definitely I
would say well I don’t know um maybe
more so like this Sophie canella that’s
like chick
okay chicklet have you heard of that not
like the little gum not like chicklets
like
chicklet um almost like um chick flick
but chick lick chick lit oh my gosh yeah
Sophie canella um she wrote the like the
chop shopaholic
series Sophie canella um there is I
shouldn’t say one um one of the um
non-fiction authors I enjoy very much is
um Malcolm
Gladwell um he’s written some
fascinating books one of them is called
The Tipping
Point um
and I don’t know if he’s I don’t think
this in fact I know this wasn’t in one
of his books because this just happened
um after he wrote uh the Tipping Point
but an example of Tipping Point that
concept I’m just going to do a little
squirrel moment for a minute an example
of Tipping Point would be um Stanley you
know the brand Stanley with all the with
the Stanley mugs right uh that was not
planned but with Stanley mugs so Stanley
that brand has been around
forever um I remember my dad way back in
the day would have a big Stanley Thermos
and he would have his coffee in the
Stanley thermos if he was going
somewhere so Stanley has been around
forever uh Tipping Point happened with
Stanley within the last I don’t know
maybe three years when probably some
social media influencer was you know
doing something with the Stanley mug and
all of a sudden this craze with Stanley
and all the Stanley mugs so Stanley went
through this Tipping Point um where it
been cruising right along cruising right
along and then all of a sudden hit like
the hockey stick growth and that was
their Tipping Point so that’s kind of
very fascinating um book about different
businesses and their tipping points um
another one he did I think called the
outliers that was also very fascinating
um about he studied whole bunch of um
very successful um
sports or athletes and looked at their
ages and looked at when they started
kindergarten and found that um I think
it’s the
outliers uh and found that kids that
start you know you can either you you
you were um whether you hit the cut off
or not kids that were close to the cut
off um and their parents decided to hold
them back um they found in all these
studies were more successful in
sports um because they were always the
biggest in the sports um especially like
Little League Sports when they have age
ranges and cut offs anyhow um very
interesting very interesting um I did
write down Colleen Hoover thank you
Tammy um Terry we have Terry just asked
a question uh Terry said have we done a
favorite books from our youth and we
have um I will pull out out the original
listing with Lao idea book and I want to
call it I think this one was called um
Opposites Attract let’s see chapter 17
Page 72 let me just double check and see
if that’s
where
um here we go the best books so um
childhood and adulthood so I did make a
list of both and we did that January
30th of 2021
and I called that opposite attracts
because we did kind of child and adult
but yes we
did uh Terry one of L by Ma’s temping
Point had to be covid we all started
meeting here then you know what it
absolutely was Terry 100% and that is a
great example of that that’s a great
example of that that was a Tipping Point
for me in my business absolutely
absolutely that was
um uh Carolyn scrapbook sister said my
first Adult Book adult in quotation
marks I remember reading was chances by
Jackie Collins it was considered racy at
the time um yes uh I’m Jackie Collins um
and a little bit Daniel Steel but Daniel
Steel not really racy just kind of um
romance right and then going back to
something that marily Lee said earlier
Judy Bloom so um I remember so Judy
Bloom was definitely like a like a
pre-teen um author for young you know
young ladies young girls and then she
also did some
adult uh there was one called wifey and
I remember reading that and I was you
know that kind of pre-tin going oh my
goodness wow yes all right back to our
subject matter Kristen Hannah also on my
list so you’ll kind of see a kind of
pattern in my like favorite authors um
every once in a while you’ll see
something like Malcolm Gladwell pop out
um but Thriller whether it’s a legal
thriller or a crime Thriller um James
Patterson there we go there’s a kind of
back to the
Thriller tons of his books he’s written
a ton a ton a ton of yeah a lot James
Patterson um Emily
Henry I have Emily Henry on my
list um
but I don’t remember
why when I was putting this together
this
morning she’s did she write go no she
didn’t write Gone Girl but I think she’s
in that kind of same genre Emily Henry I
don’t remember now uh Jojo
Moyes um what was what was that book um
but me you before me me before you
something like that oh that was a sad
one that was a sand Nora Roberts um my
mom loved nor Terry said my mom loved
Nora Roberts book she said she always
skipped the rcav parts we didn’t believe
her though I love it um Verity Colleen
Hoover wrote Verity um hi Rose Oak one
nice to see you all right as we continue

I’ll just do this four
24 all right there are my favorite
authors now this would be fun especially
if you like to read um this would be fun
to do maybe your favorite children’s
authors maybe your favorite um romance
maybe your favorite fiction non-fiction
you could do it by genre like Colleen
said she could fill out a whole trer
notebook by doing this so um one of the
things that we did
in that um that
uh I love reading Travelers notebook uh
kit class um we had I had all kinds of
list suggestions for um for different
lists that you could use but your
favorites by genre was was genre not
genre genre genre was definitely one of
those all right so I need to come back
to where did my tape go oh here it is
I’m going to do this again because this
is a left-facing page I’m starting to
deal with that
curve um because so many pages
have uh so many things on them that I
need to make sure that that edge stays
nice and
adhered if you want to see more of
because we just used a little tiny bit

when you start hearing these songs uh or
you know hearing me say these songs I
will not sing them I will do you that
favor and not sing
them um I will tell you this morning
when I was making my list well I was get
making my my list and then when I was
getting ready uh there was a playlist
that I found um in apple music or iTunes
or whatever uh and somebody had a
playlist of these and so I was just
getting ready and listening to them and
taking a stroll down memory lane was
quite fun all right we’ve got those
things put
away uh so this is going to be a
two-page list my next list which means I
won’t put it here I need to come back
and add um another single page list here
later so I’m going to
skip like
this um oh you know what so Colleen said
did I ever add the tab to the Facebook
group for book recommendations I will um
write that down too I’ve got a lots of
things to do this afternoon um tab

dance with all of my girlfriends you
know we’re all in our little whatever we
were wearing it was a pretty casual
dance that I can see the photo in my
mind but I couldn’t find it so this is
what I printed out I thought I’d do
another photo here this was um and I
don’t know whose playlist it was that I
found on iTunes or apple music top 40
songs turning 40 so I thought you know
what I could put that there it’s just
kind of a fun little photo and then I’ll
you know do my list with it so um I am
using oh but I did find this photo this
is from that era uh this would have been
uh most of the friends if not all of
them that would have been in that photo
this is I think this was our Senor trip
or something or when you had senior
Slough day when we all went away this
made me laugh though look it beniton uh
we’ve had a couple of lists that’s me
we’ve had a couple of lists where we
talk about the clothing brand beniton
and that how that reminded us yeah oh
and then here’s another Gen X look it
she’s the phone and it’s got the long
cord so fun
anyhow um all right so I grabbed some
stickers from um
shamal’s uh my gosh what the heck was
this called again
I can’t remember and it doesn’t have the
brand name on it what the heck was this
called um moonlet no not moonlet magic
um it was
called it’ll come to me it’ll come to me
um but I kind of there were a few things
I liked that I thought would be fun with
this this dreamer I just thought was fun
I could work that in somehow and then
this WOW would be fun and this yay would
be I there were a couple things that I
thought that just might work in really
well but um I need to find a pattern
paper that could go there for the
background cuz I think this I will just
um will this fit will my little sticker
ha

of H let me just think before I get to
to far down this
path uh what if we do something like
that or something like
that okay um let’s keep thinking I’m
going to move this off to the side I’m
going to just do that put this back here

I’m tur trimming both these I’m just

and 3/4 wide they’re from a 6×8 pad so
they’re already 8 in
tall uh when Sam was in high school so
Sam’s 23 now so he’s probably a I don’t
know maybe junior in high school
sophomore no sophomore in high school
because he wasn’t driving uh I was
taking um one of his friends I was
taking Sam one of his friends to a
lacrosse tournament and we’re in the car
and they’re like hey let’s list let’s
listen listen to some oldies and I said
okay great let’s listen to some oldies
cuz I’m thinking oh you know like the
Beach Boys
right uh and Sam bradden said oh I have
all these playlists on my phone I’ll
plug in my phone plugs it in and um not
even this music like older younger
younger than this music probably
probably music from like the late 80s
and I’m like I cannot believe that
that’s what they’re calling oldies as
I’m thinking like the Beach Boys right
yeah yeah yeah all right so this will go
here I think we’ll make that work
there and I think I’m going to trim it
down just a little bit I don’t need i’
like to have a little bit less white
border around that showing so then we
get to see a little bit more um of the
pattern
paper like that that maybe we’ll trim
off a little bit more off the
bottom like that all right so then we’re
still over here no we don’t need to do
that we’re going to do this we’re going
to work on these off the
page because I will not do my
stamping directly
on what does my title look

fit I would have to trim part of

on white but then I also have my title
up here and I think that might conf fct

bottom and and we will put it probably

for we have I I have a feeling we should
probably do I don’t know does the wow
want to be over here kind of feel like
the wow needs to be there don’t you

the fun things I mean it’s all fun but
uh I need to probably do my title first
so that I know what kind of room I
have all right so songs that are turning
40 in
2024 that would be
songs that came out in
1984 I was in high school in
1984 um I would have been let’s see I
graduated in ‘ 86 so you know right in
the middle of high
school
um you will start like almost singing
instantly as we go through
them lots of prints lots of prints
during that time Madonna during that
time Tina Turner during that
time um yes the big 80s hair went right
along with it didn’t it Pam 100% went
right along with it hair
bands um yes hair bands called them hair
bands because they were like the the
Rockers right like poison and um de
leopard
and I don’t know I wasn’t really into
that kind of music then so I don’t know
a lot of the hair bands um I am I feel
like I need to do a little bit more
so sometimes if I had something like
this and it was a piece of white card
stock I might ink the edges but that’s a
photo I printed that on photo paper I’m
taking out U my photo signature pen to
do my outlining on that um if you’ve
ever might need to I don’t know is it
time to replace this no I’m just
pressing too hard
um I don’t know it might be time to
replace this oh there we go um if you’ve
ever tried writing on a
photo it does not work well yeah I need
to replace my pen uh cuz it is running
out of ink that’s why I’m starting to
have it skip a little
bit if you’ve ever tried writing on a
photo then you know um it does not work
very well because your
ink will Skip and then it just won’t
work
right so this is a special pen that I
need to replace because it is starting
to run out of ink called the photo
signature pen it lets you um write on a
photo and not have it smear okay so
that’s what I just used there my title I
am going to emphasize the word 40 so I’m
going to use
the number stamps from the focus stamp
sets um if you didn’t have the focus
stamp set but you have the what a day
Stamp Set you could use the number
stamps from there or any number stamps
that you have or any number stickers but
that’s what I’m going to do so I am
going to um emphasize the word 40 and
then I will write my title above and
below that songs turning 40 in 2024 or I
could say this year um yes 86 JLo said
86 um Pam is 83 Carla is 86 as well
Michael and Janet Jackson um so what’s
interesting if you looked it depends on
how you come on it depends on how you
look uh how you Google for a list like
this so um if you Google um top hits in
1984 those wouldn’t be
um songs that necessarily came out in ‘
84 it could have just been the top hits
in ‘ 84 so
um
turning uh I’m my brain is now not
functioning turning 40 in
2024 uh or whatever you know what I’m
saying you know what I’m
saying okay I feel like we need and I’ll
overlap these a little bit but I feel
like we might need m okay color-wise if
this comes over
here this could maybe come over here as
in
wow and then we could
use there’s another one of these that
says
yay yay could come over here and well
could come over here so maybe if we did
like this let’s do it so
yay and Wow Let’s Hear It for the Boy so
you know that song Let’s Hear It for the
Boy Is that one from um or wait is foot
loose on my list let’s I think let’s
hear it no Foot Loose yes Foot Loose is
a song that turned 40 in 1984 no
turned released in 1984 turning 40 this
year there’s a really fun story about
Foot Loose um Foot Loose parts of foot
loose were filmed in Utah did you know
that um at a high school in Utah and
then also at um the Lehi Roller Mills
which was a flower um Factory kind of
Mill uh way back then I mean it still is
there but I don’t think they do flower
there anymore what’s very cool about
this um the Foot Loose um movie 40 years
ago I want to say because Foot Loose
song from 84 um there was a high school
in Utah where was filmed pengu High
School uh the senior class this year
full court press to get Kevin Bacon to
go to their prom this year Kevin Bacon
like the Kevin Bacon the lead actor in
you know and guess what he did he did he
went to their prom uh in the High School
in Utah where that was filmed I think
maybe two weeks ago it was kind of cool
it was all over the news here it was a
big deal all right so now we need maybe
should we try to pull in something like
that like maybe peacock feathers to pull
that color in let’s just see yes it was
all over the news but it was really cool
because for Kevin Bacon um said yes I
will come but he turned it into a big
like supporting one of his
fundraisers um I think like I want to
say backpacks I think they filled
backpacks for kids school kids or
something like that but it was really
cool and it was really neat to see that
he he went I mean he came to Utah for
their prom that’s kind of cool that’s
kind of cool okay peacock feathers look
it what do we think don’t you think I
think that works let’s do it peacock
feathers um oh and I mean think about
that those kids are going to be like 60
telling their grandkids and great
grandkids well when I was in high school
Kevin Bacon came to our prom and there
the people kids are going to be like
Kevin who what you know Foot Loose yeah
all right foot loose loved that movie
um all right stamping block stamping
block all right so we’re going to get
this all ready to roll and then we will
chat about the
songs okay there’s that one might as
well just get both of these loaded up
and then they’re just ready to go then

okay let’s just do our little stamping

much else I was planning ahead of

feathers I think it’s going to be good

off oh yeah Sarah said he bet the
parents were all over that prom this
year Kevin Bacon is always seemed like a
nice guy I know right he really does
really does um Kathy said she saw a
video of Kevin getting a class jacket
from the school right like a Letterman’s
jacket that was really cool yeah that
was really cool so I’m sure if you
Googled that you could see the story
because it was a really neat kind of a
neat thing kind of a neat
thing um and then you know what that’s
just so cool cuz then you think you know
what what a good guy he is I mean right
just good people out there good good
people out there CU he you know of
course he didn’t get paid for
that um just good people I think I don’t
know much about Kevin Bacon but I’m sure
he is a good
man Kira Sedwick is his wife right ah
okay this is going to this will be a
good example I’m not going to fix it

you want to well it’s not too bad um why
you want to test first I could see
there’s some little something on the o
there that is making it not quite stamp

regular photo right so that’s really fun
um to do with like text messages too
maybe you have a text thread going on
with someone on your phone it’s kind of
another fun way to um incorporate that
into your projects just screenshot it
and then print it

is that I need a collection to be able

like a whole collection that has all
kinds of music and things in it in order
to do it because then it makes it really
hard without

and I just say that coming from I worked
uh over the years for three different

manufacturers um You probably have seen
maybe one that might be like a little
mini collection but then it probably had
something to do with like band or
something like that uh you do see some
music things sometimes if they do like a
teen girl collection you’ll see that but
I don’t recall not to say that there
hasn’t been one but I don’t recall ever
seeing something like that uh this one

away I didn’t have a time limit today
and we finished in 3 hours that’s

um all D um Saturday May 4th 2024 it’s
International scrapbook day and so we do
um at least twice a year we do an all
dare it’s always the third weekend in
March because that’s when we celebrate
uh the listing with L or Saturday
sessions um anniversary we just did that
for year four and then L by mail me
going out on my own and turning my
hustle into a full-time thing uh that
was the fifth anniversary this past year
or this year um so we always do an all
day third weekend in March and then we
always also do an all dayer first
weekend in May first Saturday in May
because that is always International
scrapbook day um insd yes exactly hi
Debbie hog head nice to see
you um hi Dandy yes Flash Dance might
qualify right oh my goodness all those
movies oh Teen Angst right Teen
Angst 16 Candles just love that whole
time um all right so now let’s
see we can get that
there all right so a little bit of space
but we still know that says well here’s
what’s going on here um this is moving
around a lot see this page is starting
to move around this um happens starting
now and in fact I’m going to have to
make it happen more I’m going to have to
pull them out um because I have so much
bulk happening in here now uh the pages
start to pop from the Staples and that
is just normal because you just have so
much so much in there and so what
happens eventually will be this see how
those just have come out and they just
all have come out from the
Staples when that happens I take it
everything apart and then make a cover
that is a little bit wider and then to
hand Stitch it with wax thread so I’m to
kind of put it back all together again
so this will continue to do this until I
pop the Staples out so I’ll pop the
Staples out for next time and then we’ll
just continue but those were the three
lists that we did today um top five kind
of from our Orlando trip uh this past
week uh favorite authors and then uh
songs turning 40 in 20
24 all right okay friends let me um

goodness Reggie is so good you guys he’s
just sleeping in his little bucket he
just wants to be in here with me and as
long as he can do stuff like that it is
