Hello Sunshine is dedicated to female authorship across all storytelling platforms, including film, television, books, social videos, and audio. The media company is founded by Academy and Emmy Award-winning actress, producer, and entrepreneur Reese Witherspoon.

We’re excited to connect women (and men) to narratives told from a distinctively female perspective. We want the growing Hello Sunshine community of creators and audience members to feel seen and heard. Whether our audience identifies with a character from our book pick or with the heroine (or villain) from our TV shows, or strikes up a conversation sparked by our videos, Hello Sunshine’s mission is to show women as the flawed and often complicated heroes of their own stories. Hello Sunshine – the story starts with you.

[Applause] hi my name is Rachel Hoffer AKA Valkyrie and these are the seven things that gaming has taught me number one you can actually turn your hobby into a career I didn’t even know it was possible to do gaming for a living but I mean I’ve been gaming my whole life and I just played it for fun I played it to build a community to make friends and over time it just kind of opened up all these doors and opportunities where all of a sudden I’m getting a manager and an agent and I’m doing all these other things in life that is literally because I started playing video games number two people are going to judge so you might as well do what makes you happy I’ve always heard that gaming was kind of a male thing to do but I’ve been doing my whole life so it’s like well that’s kind of weird so I feel like if I would have listened to those people telling me not to do everything that I’ve done I wouldn’t be where I am today so and I’m very happy so definitely do makes you happy number three consistency is key streaming and gaming has been a grind in my career I’ve been doing it for 8 years and I feel like if I didn’t put as much effort consistently doing that I wouldn’t be where I am today when I first started streaming I was streaming to like 25 to 50 people and no matter how many people were watching I was consistently streaming 8 to 9 hours a day number four the value of collaborating I’ve learned in my years years of being on social media that whoever you work with whether it’s someone that streams to three viewers or a brand a company no matter what it helps everyone involved so um that’s like three people that may not have known who I was or you know that’s like I’m playing with other streamers you know that’s all of our audience like get to learn about the other people that they’re watching so it kind of helps all Tides rise number five authenticity is everything I’ve been doing this for a very long time and something that I learned is that it’s very difficult to put up an act and I feel like anyone that’s watching me live in the moment because it’s not edited people are watching me live and they can see how I’m feeling on my face and I’m so expressive like I cannot hide how I’m feeling so I just feel like being true to myself and expressing how I really am and how I feel is what brought a lot of people to my streams and have really enjoyed my content because they can tell it’s me just being me number six G gaming teaches you Real Life Unexpected skills I’ve played many games I’ve played countless games you name it and there’s a lot of games that are like puzzle games there’s games that help your accuracy your reflexes everything you’re doing like sure it’s entertainment and it’s fun but I’ve recognized that over time like my reflexes are so much better in real life like I could definitely swerve out of the way if there is a car coming at me I think the biggest skill that gaming has taught me is decision making there are actually games where you have to choose a decision in the game and it affects the outcome of the game there’s like multiple endings on a certain game and so you have to make the right decision and I’ve applied that to real life like sometimes there’s just a a fork in the road and you have to choose what is the best path and you can’t go back like one example I can use for when decision making made a real impact in my life was when I had to decide whether to keep streaming on Twitch or to sign over to YouTube no one else was really signing over I was one of the first people to sign and I had to really think like is this going to affect my brand is this going to like be horrible for my companies and bad for just just my community um and that was the decision I made it was a risk I took and it paid off number seven gaming has never been just for boys okay I’ve been gaming my whole life I was a tomboy and I kept hearing you know like I’d get bullied for it teased for it but then I realized everyone was getting teased for gaming uh when I was growing up and I also learned that there are a lot of girls online that are gaming just like me that stay hidden because of the people that are teasing them about it so if you’re a girl and you feel discouraged about gaming just don’t don’t literally no matter what you do in life people are going to judge you for it have fun

  5. Telling a bunch of kids and women to stream is great and all
But the truth is 99% who try will never make more than minimum wage
    Keep your day job

  6. Oh awww Hello Sunshine, that is truly such a lovely and adorable 7 Things video that you did about Valkyrae (my all time favorite live streamer from YouTube), she truly given such a lovely seven advices, and seeing her getting truly big and massive all on her own, is truly such an uplifting tale, not to mention that she managed to be a big inspiration to all women who want to be gamers like her (heck, i am also inspired by her too guys), i am truly thankfull that she is face of streaming space ❤☺️🤗👏👍✌️🙌😇🥰📹📼☀️🌼🌻

  7. I love Rea, I watch her all the time, and yes people should pursue their goals, if you wanna stream and try and make streaming your carrier go for it, but don't set unrealistic expectations on yourself, and definitely don't just straight up quit your job to fully pursue streaming.
All successful streamers have worked really hard and have invested a ton of time into building their audiences… I mean literal years, Rae has been streaming for 9+ years now… yes there are streamers that end up going viral and it feels like they came out of nowhere like ishowspeed, caseoh, Jynxzi, Kaicenat ect. but those are really rare.
And I gotta say when you're someone like Rae, aka. one of the most gorgeous women on earth, it helps a lot.
