2024 MET GALA FASHION ROAST PART 3 (being mean to boring men)

[Music] hello everybody my name is Luke Mah and this is hotl mode and today on hot mode we are coming to you with your Mech Gala 2024 part three fashion roast and review this time we’re going to be mean to the men wearing boring suits cuz I think that’s an important and imperative thing to do bullying works because everybody’s going to make fun of my Bonnie cashion coat and that’s okay and I will strive next year to wear some something better will it happen who knows I also will say that although we’re going to be talking predominantly about the men that did not deliver at this m Gala we’re also going to be having some women and ladies in there as well so don’t you worry we have it all going on so first up we have Alex new who is wearing Christian Serano normally we see Christian syriano and it’s either so good or so so bad it hurts it burns it gives you a urinary tract infection listen I think this is okay it’s floral so like theme it’s black lace a black floral with sort of leaf lace applique obviously I assume trying to look at the idea of like dying and death and the black and all that sort of stuff a little on the nose a little bit okay thank you I will say I find the silhouette rather interesting I like this idea of the big fann out neckline the fact that it creates a real border a real headboard of sorts for Alex and I do like the the fact that the leaves are sort of falling off of this lace headboard but again overall am I really that jazzed no as far as chrisen Serano goes will I accept it because it could be so so so so so much worse sure next up we have Alexander Draymond he is wearing Michael Kors here’s what I’m going to say boo you suck listen I like UTD Gunderson as much as the next girl but disinteresting not exciting it’s a white suit jacket with a white shirt black pant a patent leather shoe and then there is a black fabric flower on the lapel and we’re calling it a day and we’re like wow we really did that no bored uninteresting sad depressing this is bottom of the barrel like nothing was done nothing was thought out nothing was exciting or interesting and I’m just bored of at the Met Gala specifically the men not serving listen at the Oscars at the Emmys at wherever you’re going whatever other award show do your like I am leading man D the whole point is to be fashion the whole point is to be exciting and live a little bit and express yourself and just have something to say sartorially and we’re not doing that here we’re just doing I’m bored of I’m hot at this event specifically be hot everywhere else next up we have Alexander scars guard he’s wearing Calvin Klein now I looked into the storyline of this Calvin Klein double rested suit and Alexander was like oh yeah I really like wanted you Timeless no that’s not the theme it’s the garden of time yeah sure like Timeless time’s in it but again [ __ ] you’re a bullshitter he wanted to look back at like carry Grant in the’ 40s and like men suiting of that era but again I say I don’t think there’s anything intriguing memorable whatever the garden of Time theme is really truly about the idea of fleeting Beauty the idea of things decaying and falling away yes we could say that the stone statues in the garden of time are like Timeless but like they weren’t Timeless in the beginning of the story so I I don’t really want to hear that and so and if you really wanted to go like oh Timeless 19th Century men’s wear like where’s a 19th century dress I don’t know if you noticed Carrie Grant 1940s not 1890s not 1880s not 1870s 1940s 1950s 1960s so you’re bullshitting and I don’t like it next up we have Al Mason he’s wearing Tom Brown listen first and foremost I’m going to say at least it’s fashion at least it’s exciting I mean this jacket is really really cool I like the undone shirt I love the undone bow tie the pant the cber bun the boot those boots crazy they’re wild they’re ridiculous and I’m obsessed with them is this on theme no not at all not whatsoever but do I think it looks Chic and fat absolutely so not approved for the theme but as per usual alt Mason wears things and I am ging and awing because I can never next up we have Ben plat and Noah Galvin and they are both wearing AI they are these double breasted suits they have these cumer buns sort of built in Noah is white and the cumber bun is like the bottom of the double breasted suit jacket as for Ben it’s like a side panel of the jacket in Black has the cber bun detailing they’re both wearing like florals on the suits one is on Ben’s lapel the other one is on Noah’s cumberbun and then they’re both wearing wide leg pants again I just like gays holding hands and wearing a flower and calling it a day like I expect better from the girls sorry I do I really really truly do Amiri don’t expect that much better from but the gays yeah I I I want more I demand more I think we need more sucks Brooklyn Beckham Brooklyn pelts Beckham excuse me wearing Dior not only is it disinteresting hate the fit of the pants he’s wearing a boot but it might not be a boot looks like it’s a broke he’s wearing a waste coat a white double breasted jacket it’s undone he is the male version of go on give us nothing there’s just nothing there of intrigue or interest apparently it had something to do with like ’90s David Beckham and I’m going to be honest please stop writing the man’s coattails I’m good I just feel like out of everything we could have done to like maybe stand out we said no I’m okay let me blend in let me be mediocre let me Define banality with my outfit I know I’m being mean but like somebody’s got to and also I have to Sher the I’m a misogynist allegations cuz I’m an equal opportunist hater next up Charlie hunam don’t know him I apologize Chuck but at the same time after looking at this outfit I don’t really want to it’s a blue suit black lapels and he has a pearl necklace and then some sort of little pendant in the middle it doesn’t look like a flower I don’t think it is a flower if it’s some sort of flower reference great do I still think that it’s annoying and uninteresting and silly that I have to look at it and try to say something nice absolutely cuz I’m not going to and also the pants I don’t understand the pant fit I couldn’t find who he’s wearing and I feel like for everybody involved that’s probably for the best we need to start being mean to these men because they suck all the life out of everything interesting oh next up we have Chase Stokes and Kelsey ballerini and they wearing Michael Kors let’s talk about Chase Stokes first the fully sequenced suit any other place I’d be interested and intrigued and say well at least he’s trying but here in this moment no I do understand that in the exhibit of Sleeping Beauties there is sequins by mle Kors on a dress on a mermaid dress and this whole idea of like time assess and see and no no I’m good I’m okay I don’t get it I don’t see it like the Chrome heart’s shirt that’s not really a shirt it’s just necklaces draped okay got it thank you so much for nothing as for Kelsey the floral sheer style I appreciate the attempt again not super exciting not super interesting I do wish that we had done something a little bit time wise in terms of the floral element but what is so incredibly offensive to me is the color of this beige cuz it’s meant to obviously be like a sheer and like a skin tone beige it’s not it is very clear that it is fabric I think that the shade is rough I think that the thickness of it also is very difficult cuz you can really discern where it is and so it fully takes you out of this idea that it’s supposed to be like a nude illusion floral thing the illusion is the fact that everybody that worked on this really thought oh yeah we did nude you didn’t next up we have Donald Glover he’s wearing sunon I’m sorry it’s rough I think it’s really really rough the pant fit is crazy the shoes are awful and I don’t know why they didn’t do like a brown shoe because he’s wearing a brown shirt and tie I don’t like that beige in general I really don’t and I don’t like it in a double breasted wideleg pant suit the brown shirt and the brown tie like okay now from what I read we were trying to do like American Psycho Patrick baitman as like Timeless 80s I’m so sorry the 80s are in fact very not Timeless very very not Timeless especially that that’s not no you had two years to do the whole American theme and you chose two years after the last American themed dress code to do it maybe it’s me maybe my brain is actually rotting inside of my head right now and I just am not understanding what’s happening no and it looks bad okay so next up is Ed Sheeran now what I’m going to say is I didn’t realize that this was Ed Sheeran’s First Met Gala and so like I do appreciate that he’s wearing this icy blue suit by Stella McCartney I appreciate the crystal bow tie that’s undone like I appreciate that Ed obviously like wore a color that was a little different a little out there for Men’s Wear I appreciate that do I think he’s on theme absolutely not the other thing is from my understanding the Stella McCartney crystal bow tie here is made with sustainably created diamonds that’s cool I like that that’s great we like ethically made diamonds that’s important and we appreciate but at the same time do I think that the whole look fits into the theme absolutely not do I again appreciate that Ed said let me try something different yeah absolutely it could have obviously I don’t know at minimum had like a flower on it because the Dumb and Dumber suit not again really that Timeless but I want to like give credit for trying not for trying for the theme but like trying to do something that’s not a black and white suit but again Ed if you come back next year step that Ginger please and thank you cuz no I took off the jacket it was a little tight it was a little uncomfortable next up we have Isa Gonzalez and she is wearing delore which is a brand that she’s worn quite a few times now I’m pretty positive and delore is one of the smaller Italian Brands is the upand comer I would say of Italy or one of the up incomers now listen it’s a very pretty dress it’s very delore I would say in the bodice detailing and all of that it’s all these layers of chiffon here’s my thing what Isis said was that this was inspired by the vanilla orchadia or like a vanilla Orchid from Mexico they call it like the King vanilla flower it is from Vera Cruz Mexico and it’s a very sort of central important ritualistic plant listen beautiful stunning it’s gorgeous looking what I’m going to say I couldn’t find any pictures of it being pink I don’t want to be like [ __ ] cuz like I do like the idea of bringing in plants and flowers that are very Central to people’s culture and things like that it’s not that I don’t think that that’s a beautiful reference but are there pink orchids that I don’t know about that maybe I missed the pictures of cuz like I did Google pink and I couldn’t find any pictures so I’m just wondering if like we did address and we wanted to do and then we needed a story line for it and that was the story line and it’s kind of like oh it’s like when people attach like dead relatives to things like oh this is like inspired by my Grandma she’s dead and it’s like well now I feel like an [ __ ] for saying something but it’s true because it looks like [ __ ] it’s not that I think this dress looks poor or like badly done or anything again it’s really really beautiful it is really stunning it’s a flower inspired dress so like on theme I guess but I just feel like we could have done more something more interesting something about Decay something about Intrigue or interest or just something that wasn’t a pinkish dress next up we have Erica Badu and she is wearing K de garon now this is from the spring 2024 collection I believe and it’s a dress that’s very sort of Av on cord it’s a little bit sculptural it has multiple different floral prints and motifs all across it there’s a big sort of cartoonish flower one looks almost like a poppy but I don’t believe it’s actually Poppy and then the other side looks like flowers but it’s actually all I believe rouched material so it just seems like that and then there’s a chiffon sort of floral Motif underneath it and it’s very eradu like of course it’s a floral age I I feel like there’s more there than just a floral dress I don’t know it’s just disappointing next up we have Greta Gerwig and she’s wearing Chloe now this I believe is a custom Chloe look cuz I couldn’t find the imagery of this it’s a black cape blouse with a lot of beating embellishment all along the neck and down the front of it and then she’s wearing a black pant a black trouser again with the Chloe my issue is chimina Kamali had an amazing first season for Chloe everybody loves it everybody thinks it’s amazing I think it’s absolutely wonderful I was one of the first people to be like she did that but I feel like for her first Met Gala why not show up and show out why not really sort of take the idea of the garden of time and theming and flowers and things like that and really sort of play into it it why just do what you’ve been doing and doing things that are so incredibly ready to wear that they will fully fall through the cracks of press for what and on top of it like the only thing that didn’t fall through the cracks was Zoe salana because he put a big Chloe name belt on her and everybody was like that’s disgraceful I just don’t understand the mentality of it’s our first Met Gala let’s be as forgettable as possible it just it doesn’t make sense to me and it’s disappointing and I think I’m trying to get out here is not only the celebrities not only the brands but this rationale of not caring is not in fact Chic for this singular event anything else it’s understandable I was talking with a friend this week about the celebrities and the Oscars and the Emmys and things like that and really wanting to be the narrative be the person show yourself in a certain way this event is not about your pride your ego the way that you need to show yourself off this event is about putting out this idea that you have some sort of creative bone in your body I think what the issue is is the lack of the Care is the disappointing part and speaking of Hugh Jackman Tom Ford it’s a black suit okay thank you there’s nothing to it there’s no smart cunning intriguing witty reference there’s nothing that really would make anybody say wow Hugh Jackman amazing say and so with Hugh in this Tom Ford suit that is unmemorable I’d rather you just stayed in that unfurnished apartment would have been easier for everybody next up we have Iris Law and she’s wearing Versace this is from the fall 2002 collection I think this is oour I think it’s the verace collection from Fall 2002 I’m pretty positive this is inspired by like butterfly wings I think just the use of the black lines these really pretty panels of different sort of teals and purples and pinks and maths and shear elements I assume is inspired by butterfly wings it’s just sort of been turned into a very sexy Slinky slip dress it’s fine and it’s a reference and butterflies in a garden and sure I get it for a brand that’s really about looking at gian’s archives and bringing back the past and things like that I think it would have been really really interesting to almost look at their own archives of pieces that Giani made how those pieces have needed certain elements of reconstruction in order to keep them in a certain date and quality and like I just think that the brands didn’t really think all of this through and so she does look pretty and it’s a nice dress and all of that and butterflies and Gardens great but great let’s move on next up we have Jack harlo he’s wearing Christian Dior listen I can tell you that this is probably one of the best times I’ve ever seen Jack Carlo look in suit I do think the gray is a really nice touch I think it’s a really really well done color especially with the history of Dior the idea of of Dior gray Tron gr like there there’s a lot there in terms of the history of Dior what I will say though is like there’s no floral element and I guess I’m also again confused for a brand who like some of the most famous quotes from that Designer Christian Dior himself was about how women are flowers and each one should be treated in the like we wouldn’t try to do something referencing the archive maybe for Jack harlo cuz a lot of their time Dior recently with men’s has been doing these interesting takes and reconstructing these Dior okure pieces that were historically for women and then doing them in like Men’s Wear Styles I don’t get it I think it would have been so much more interesting than just the gray and so I’m like again any other place I would have said jackar looks really great and I really enjoy it I just for the theme fell very flat next up we have Jaden Smith and Willow Smith Let’s Do Willow first I Jesus it’s a black jacket and stockings and a pair of pumps there was no Story the pr people that have to try to make stuff up to get this to be interesting that’s who we should be thinking of in these moments Willow Smith flaunted sophistication in custom Dior cure tuxedo jacket skillfully parlaying black from merely a color into compelling statement on the art of tailoring for The Reawakening fashion theme okay bold masculine lines mingle with the delicacy of sh contrast and striking sensuality we word vomit things and then we say oh pretty how do I say nothing while using words that’s what this is and on top of it the look is so flat beautiful girl great wonderful but please as for Jaden listen he’s wearing Tom Brown it’s partially inspired by the most recent Tom Brown collection there was a lot of those sort of straps all throughout that show what I’ll say for Jaden’s look is like at least there’s a flower on it at least there’s floral motifs at least there’s embell the use of the flower at least adds some Garden theme to it whereas ju supposed against Willow you’re like oh it’s a black jacket congrats you did it so thank you all for that oh here I get to be me to James Cordon blah disinteresting unfun unenjoyable unmemorable like the show that got canceled as for his wife the mo it’s it’s pretty dress does have floral is motifs on it so like thank you I like her shoes the shoes are nice I like a green like that very pretty she looks fine she’s on theme is he well he’s there should he be different conversation next up we have Jamie Doran he is wearing Le this I believe is a custom look but it’s based on the fall 2024 women’s wear collection listen what I’m going to say is I do love this look by itself cuz the issue is like it’s not on theme there’s no theme reference like we could say Men’s Wear and like show time and past Men’s Wear Styles and yeah but no what I do think is really really interesting though is the fact that this jacket waist coat pant shirt and tie are all fully beaded so like if we zoom in we can see that their beads everywhere and it creates this really really intriguing texture that I’m kind of obsessed with and I think that’s the hard thing for me because I’m like oh Jamie like this is really good like it’s really really Chic it’s really really interesting just like not super on theme maybe again like Demi Moore in 50 years the weight of that beating and what it’s going to do to the fabric underneath could be explored as on theme so like we’ll we’ll check back if I’m still alive but right now not on theme you look great really interesting style really cool sort of trump Loy effect yeah not on theme next up we have Jeff Goldblum and he’s wearing Prada this I do actually again really enjoy I think out of all the men’s We it’s rather interesting the coat is lovely I think more men should wear coats on the red carpets the waist coat the little Shaw the white sort of Shaw that wraps around the neck and sort of creates like a double tie effect the pants fit in beautifully the Prada boots great the thing that’s really of interest and Intrigue is that there are these broches on the lapel there’s like a bird there’s two different flowers and he has a little pair of eyeglasses that are sitting in the pocket of the jacket I think it’s a reference back to the fall 2012 collection which is the Prada of villains collection which has become rather viral in in the past 6 months or so I do obviously see that it’s referencing things and that collection was referencing like the 30s 40s men’s wear all different men’s were decades and all that jazz but again I just wish that there was some sort of tattering pairing or purposeful decay of the garments to make it somewhat Tim related cuz the two floral brooches I love Prada but like could be better but again like he looks great it’s just theme no next up we have Jeremy Pope and he’s wearing Tanner Fletcher which is an upand cominging brand in New York I would say a rather intriguing look at gender play this idea of like lingerie mixed with tailoring things like that the big long maribou lined sleeves are cool and different and something that you don’t really see don’t really love garter panels on the shoulder but like I get that it plays into the whole gender bend thing and putting these two materials and styles just opposing them do I think it’s on theme no I don’t know again I just feel like maybe had we not had it look so clean and perfect and brand spank and new we could have got into that we could have played a little bit with Decay and time and stuff like that I think it’s a really interesting take on again gender but just not on theme next up we have Jeremy Strong and I think Jeremy Strong is very intriguing not because the look is some crazy experience but I do think that there’s a little bit more floral going on in just like One Singular fabric flower the fact that there is this Laura Piana suit lapel that is fully covered in flowers is intriguing but what I think is most most most most most wonderful is this high collar that also has this fabric flower that’s literally dead center in the middle and also I think built into the shirt rather than just sort of sewn on and maybe it’s not built into the shirt maybe it is just sewn on but it feels very natural there doesn’t feel like it’s just a separate fabric flower that we needed to attach to shirt in order to make it somewhat look on theme the other thing that I really really love is the fact that you have this high collar shirt and I personally think it’s probably a reference to like 1880s suiting and I think that Jeremy’s kind of taking on the role of count Axel I also think that Jeremy Strong from what I hear loves a method acting and I feel like he also probably likes a method dressing I think Jeremy’s done very very well here I think he understands what he’s doing I think he gets what he’s doing this is a man that takes the carpet seriously but doesn’t have to do wind chimes and wind pipes and windmills and all kinds of crazy gadgets and gizmos but just kind of understands if you’re going to do it do it well or at least try next up we have Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld and at least Jessica is wearing Chanel from what I know and like as far as Chanel dresses go I really don’t hate this I think it’s sweet looking the embroidery is nice it’s lovely it also like does not have 45 different prompts that it’s trying to most definitely achieve so like fine good okay as for Jerry boring you there’s not even a floral on there so I don’t know insert Seinfeld joke I’ve never really seen it and now I think I’m content I don’t need to see it I’m good next up we have Jonathan Bailey and he’s wearing L it’s a white and black suit I’ll be honest but at least there are two flowers on there so that’s something from my understanding there are sugar crystals on the flowers the one that’s sitting at the neck this big peenie and I assume that the one that’s on the pant is also in sugar crystals so here’s the thing crystal flower garden of time got it do I obviously wish there was a little bit more excitement going on absolutely also I know that he’s probably in like Regency attire more often than not I think he would have done himself a favor by just having a historical Men’s Wear silhouette Going On Nothing fits bad I think the shoes are fine like I I understand it there’s a crystal flower we’re all achieving things but are we really now we have Jordan Roth who listen as far as concept goes I really love this is a Valentino look and Jordan is a mechala star always and forever and always dresses to the theme and that I appreciate this dress is a hooded style it is very green at the top and then as we move down it starts to add in these pink sort of flowers these fabric flowers and then as we reach around like the knee area these fabric flowers start to go yellow and then the more and more we move down the more and more they start to diey and turn different shades of brown and there’s that decay like it’s definitely there I can’t tell if it’s because the flowers are sort of two-dimensional and I don’t mean that in the sense of like to dimensional I mean they almost look twood dimensional I understand they actually are three-dimensional but they just look so flat and cartoonish that I think there’s something there that throws me off I also think the silhouette is rough because it’s this hooded full A-line floor length gown with a train I almost wish there was a little bit of extra shape to it almost like a tent sort of situation cuz it just would have added a little bit more extravagance I love that we’re seeing this idea of Decay I think it’s wonderful I think it’s fun I think it’s enjoyable the look itself maybe not my favorite but A+ for effort cuz the garden of time achieved next up we have Carrie Washington and she is wearing custom Oscar deara listen as far as like pretty dresses go absolutely this deep purple velvet is really lovely the flowers at the back of the train are really stunning I like the way that they creep up onto the waist like she looks beautiful what I’ll say is in terms of theme yes it’s a floral thing what the Oscar team also said that Carrie was going for is Maleficent who is obviously the villain of Sleeping Beauty and that’s why you have this very horn-shaped neckline is it’s meant to sort of emulate the horns of Maleficent both Angelina Jolie and also the cartoon version is very heavy on purple so I think it’s obviously more of a Maleficent in that context the dress is pretty Garden Of Time Maleficent Sleeping Beauties okay okay I’ll take it did I want something a little bit I don’t know more intellectual Shore but it is pretty I do really like the florals on the train not really super Garden of tyy maybe except for the garden part more Sleeping Beauties reference but like all right all right next up we have Kieran Ken and Jazz charton and now Kieran is wearing kids super and I’m not really sure who jazz is wearing let’s talk about jazz really quick it’s a dress that is full of florals the neckline it’s halter it’s yellow the flowers descend down and then they stop listen not my favorite dress ever but like for somebody that with respect to Jazz I don’t know if she’s actor if she’s not an actor if she’s a celebrity if she her and Kieran culan are just like best friends from childhood and they got married and life is good and and she’s like a therapist I don’t know but for me not knowing her fine I’ll take it totally okay as for Kieran this kid super suit is obviously printed with floral is motifs maybe it’s not actually a floral I don’t know I can’t really tell I thought it was a floral Motif it’s from the spring 2024 collection and the more and more that I look at it the more and more it feels like it’s marbling or some sort of abstract art and it’s not really a floral but it’s not a boring black and white suit so like fine yeah I wish it was more Garden of time more floral I did look at the kids super collection and nobody really expressed what the collection was about so I I don’t know if it was about time or Gardens or something next up we have Chris Jenner and Cory gamble I don’t know who Cory’s wearing but I do know that his suit is ill-fitting and that’s kind of crazy like I don’t know why the pants fit like that they’re really bad they’re really bad I don’t think Chris’s skimping on Cory’s clothing budget so like maybe they could have hired him a tailor possibly I don’t know it just seems a little crazy to me that you’re attending the mech Gala and the trousers really fit that poorly also you’re wearing an allh suit there’s nothing really interesting going on there’s not a floral that I could see so Cory evidently didn’t take a Gamble and it most definitely didn’t pay off as for Chris Jenner this is an Oscar lorenta big Cape it has florals obviously that run around the neck and the lapel and the collar of this cape coat thing and then there’s a white Sheath dress underneath there’s not really any special story to this cuz I definitely did the research to try and find something there’s nothing so yeah flop flop flop flop floppity flop flop next up we have Louis Hamilton who I think had one of the most interesting origins of his inspiration now Louis is wearing Burberry and it looks pretty simple obviously it’s a black wool coat with floral embroidery and then there’s a black silk suit underneath black jacket black pants black patent leather shoes and also the little Barbed thorny stem necklace the floral embroidery isn’t like anything wild it’s also done in all black but what I think is most interesting is that L came out and said that his look was inspired by a black Gardener from Wales in the 18th century his name was John estlin and there is a portrait of him now the origin story of how John and up in Wales isn’t exactly like pinned down but it’s believed that he was captured as a young boy and was enslaved and then brought over to the United Kingdom and brought to Wales but there isn’t like a paper trail per se to really like nail that down when John was about 8 years old he was baptized then he was taught English and Welsh and then he was put to work in The Gardens of the Stumblin estate I believe is the name of it everybody found out that John was an amazing horticulturalist amazing Gardener amazing florist and so he kind of then started to like build his own business and was very much so liked and well respected eventually he married a woman named Margaret they had kids together and from what I’ve read as of like 2019 descendants of John and Margaret still live in the area of Wales where they had their family I like the idea of like bringing in these really intricate stories and listen is it the garden of time absolutely but who’s kind of better to reference than like a gardener do I obviously wish for like this idea of Decay and all these sorts of things and the time element sure but at the same time I think bringing in stories that we haven’t really heard before and giving those sort of elements a little bit of a more interesting narrative will I say that like Oh The Garden of Time theme I guess to a degree what I think also is a lot of people were just sort of like I like flowers these are pretty flowers or these are flowers that are interesting to me what I thought was interesting about the story is bringing in this idea of like a gardener and a gardener that has a very very intriguing story and made a name for himself against multiple odds so I like that I think I respect that much more than like trying to weave a storyline out of something that you don’t actually have a storyline for and also that I can tell you because I saw the collection before you even saw the collection that you had nothing to do with the story line or it has nothing to do with the storyline of this whole metcal exhibit what I also thought was interesting is the fact that on the lining there was a little panel that was sewn on and it’s a few lines from a poem by the poet named Alex Wharton who wrote a poem about John and it’s called The Gardener and so it says I hope the sun pours light upon our skin and we melt into each other into everything maybe the trees will speak as they sometimes do Whispers from the shade run run away I just think that like berbery leis Hamilton they did a really really good job of sort of telling this story and bringing in a really interesting aspect and historical moment to the look and at the same time like I like the jewelry the floral it looked nice nothing crazy he still looked Dapper and dashing but he gave it a little bit of an Intrigue and interest and so like we will take it next up we have Lil Naz X and he is wearing luir now luir is a New York based brand Lil Naz X has this sort of coat on it’s fully constructed utilizing a whole lot of buttons that would be popped into these little loops and that’s how the pieces are sort of held together what I also think is interesting is lir is designed by rul Lopez who was one of the many designers that was a part of hood by air with Shane Oliver and so this idea of like deconstruction and all of those sorts of things are very much so a part of the brand and have been a part of the brand I will say like there’s not really a whole floral element to it except for like one floral flower that’s on the lapel of the coat but they also were sort of trying to say that like at a certain point Lil nzx sheds his coat and that’s meant to be like the shedding of the Petals of a flower I don’t really buy it I do think it’s an intriguing look I don’t think there’s anything to to wild about it and I do wish that maybe there was like a little bit more of like a floral deconstruction thingz to me that feels very lir and Raul’s work but next up we have Mike Feist and he is wearing L now this is a custom suit it’s a black and white suit or a black and cream and white suit double breasted Blazer white shirt black bow tie cream pants the L little rounded shoes whatever not really interesting not really entertaining not really making me feel anything what is the garden element of the look is the fact that there is this beaded 3D radish that sits on Mike’s lapel it’s a reference back to the most recent L collection the fact that radishes and Gardens and David York the artists are all sort of there listen I like the radish I think it’s cool I think it’s fun and I think anywhere else I’d be like oh wow I love your little radish I don’t know next up we have Morgan Spectre who is wearing Willie chavaria Morgan’s look is rather intriguing I don’t like the jacket to be completely honest I think the red silk is like I think it’s tough and will wrinkle and crinkle and and yeah the pants look fine the glove whatever he’s wearing his watch so like time Garden there are big poppies that sit on the lapel but what I think is really really interesting about Morgan’s look is the fact that in the actual Sleeping Beauty Reawakening fashion exhibit there is a whole section dedicated to the poppy now the thing is in the poppy section you can hear Morgan Spectre actually read out the poem in Flanders Fields which was a World War I poem and the poppy is very much a part of that poem and has become a symbol of those lost during World War I and the whole idea of Bloodshed and the fact that there is a sort of bloody element to that flower and the symbolism to it so I think that’s one part of why Morgan Spectre asked that the poy B added on to the suit the other element is the fact that the Palestinian national flower is the poppy and so Morgan Spectre wanted to bring light to the fact that Palestine is going through quite a lot and I think it’s honestly rather Brave thing to do I I think it’s the only mention of palestin throughout the entirety of the looks from the mat Gala and at the same time I think it’s a smart way for him to be able to sort of play into the idea of it being about his reading of the poem yet still nod to the fact that he is supporting Gaza and Palestine so I’m going to be completely honest I do think it’s a rather smart move and I got to respect it next up we have Nicolas Galatin and he is wearing fendy now it’s a black suit it has floral Embroidery in Black on it and so here’s like the issue is leis Hamilton was like no no no I got a story I got a story to back it up it’s a story that’s intriguing it’s a story that’s interesting it actually relates to everything we like that Nicholas has black suit jacket that has floral embroidery on it that’s it no storyline no Intrigue no interest no digging up some sort of historical understanding whatever no no no it’s a black suit so I don’t want to be rude sir but you got your ass handed to real hard so yeah no yikes I do like the boot but again like it’s so crazy to me that like the pants don’t fit there’s something about like fendy looks to me they just never really fit next up we have Odell Beckham Jr and he is wearing Bodie now this apparently is a jacket with lace and floral applique that I think maybe it’s the lace is 100 years old and that’s what pipes around the jacket maybe it’s the floral and bird like applique that’s 100 years I don’t know something is 100 years old in that embroidery element I appreciate that but bod also is a brand that is about upcycling vintage and or you know old textiles I don’t want to be rude but like I expected a little bit more from a brand that’s really quite like about using old textiles and and fabrics and I know that like obviously they’re using old textiles and fabrics in this look but I don’t know it don’t really feel super exciting also it looks so clean and new that I kind of was hoping it would maybe be a little bit more faded old ruined also I hate the pant fit it looks so weird on him it looks so strange it’s not good I also don’t really love the jacket fit but like the pant fit is rather atrocious next up we have Pamela Anderson she is wearing oscr lenta this is her first time going to the met and so Pamela was like I just want to do my thing she’s wearing this draped bodish dress it’s in beige not really super interesting not really exciting whatsoever not really on theme and I don’t know I want more from Pamela I feel like there could have been an intriguing element that she could have went for I do know that the stuff in her hair is grass so like there’s some sort of garden thing where it’s like a dried grass so you know she’s trying and I do like the headpiece I think it’s rather sweet looking and I do think the jewelry looks rather good too like I think they did a good job of whipping it all up and it’s funny because Pamela doesn’t have a stylus so Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia of Oscar lorenta were the ones that like kind of worked with her to like do the styling of this and it’s so funny to me that if you let designers do the styling you look really good but like there’s so many stylists I think that’s rather intriguing and interesting listen she looks really good and anywhere else I’d be like great the theme next up we have Rachel zler Michael Kors Sleeping Beauty I guess it’s blue it’s a halter dress looks sweet on her great yada yada is it on theme I don’t think so I just think it’s a blue dress she wanted to look pretty I feel like she’s had moments where she’s tried and like it’s been thoughtful and fashion and stuff like that and so this is kind of disappointing next up we have R Alejandro and he is wearing ludvic Des sensor nin it’s a white suit fits I don’t know whatever it’s fine and then he’s wearing a little chain mail top it has a flower on it nothing really to write home about he looks fine doesn’t look super interesting garden flower great cool let’s move along next up we have Sebastian Stan he’s wearing Ami again like Louis Hamilton came prepared he said listen I’m going to wear all black and it’s going to black floral embroidery but like have a story line that you really can’t refute there’s no story line to this black look with floral embroidery on it you know what I mean like there’s certain things that we can work with and certain things we can’t this I can’t there’s nothing to it there’s nothing interesting about like there’s no look and I I don’t know the fit I don’t know the pants are like strange and they’re too baggy and it doesn’t make sense the coat is like whatever I don’t know it’s a black T-shirt who cares next up we have Shakira she’s wearing Carolina Herrera here’s the issue is she looks nice she looks great whatever it’s very Carolina Herrera of West Gordon I get it I see it I understand it just because you’re wearing like a cape offthe shoulder Shaw thing that looks somewhat if you say it out loud like a flower then it kind of maybe looks like a flower if you think about it Roar shock test wise that’s not enough it’s not enough for me especially for Carolina which to me is a brand that’s very much so floral and Flowery and bright and bold and like I think that there is a moment to like go and do it and try and be exciting and be different and have a moment and this is evidently not Shakira’s moment cuz she’s not trying she doesn’t care lazy boring sloppy uninteresting listen of course like I’m not saying that about the dress construction and all that looks nice looks good but just the thought that went into the theme not there not applicable next up we have Sienna Miller she’s wearing Chloe this is Off The Runway but she’s wearing a slip underneath it it’s a white very flouncy lace dress it’s a lace dress with florals in the lace Garden th flower boring Chloe not try don’t give a [ __ ] I don’t know I just I like Chloe a lot I’m very excited I think it’s fun I just wish that they had tried a little harder then we have Steph young and he is wearing Tom Brown there are florals and crows in his jacket again adding it into like the whole you’re wearing all black with a flower on it there’s no storyline like I know what the story line is the story line is Edgar alen Poe The Raven all that based on the most recent Tom Brown collection just like no I’m okay I’m good I there’s not I need more I need more. com. co.uk I need tatter I need tear I need Fray I need burn I need something I need smoked I need I need something next up we have Tao watiti and Rita Ora and now I have to ask the question oh wait Rita Ora why are you here let’s talk about taica first he’s wearing Mary it’s brown it’s leather I think it’s like fine as a look or whatever I think it’s nice sure great I like the leather I like the use of unconventional material anywhere else would be like wow it’s like great theme no as for Rita Aura here’s the thing this is a mar look Rita said that the beads that are on this dress and I don’t know if it’s like every single bead or if it’s only like certain specific beads that are on it are beads that were gotten from different parts of Africa and Europe and they are thousands of years old and so it’s like reanimating pieces from the past all of the Kendall Jenner situation I would like a fact check on that please and thank you cuz if these are just beads that we made in like a Morano [ __ ] Workshop in Italy I’m going to really annoy that she said all of that it’s going to piss me off cuz I’m going to be nice-ish I do think it’s interesting if these are really truly those to utilize those I think that’s cool I think that’s different I think it’s something that nobody else really thought of it still feels very mny to me a little bit weird a a little bit wacky a little bit colorful a little bit oven card strange the body stocking is like fine I wish that they like dyed it to like actually match her skin tone cuz like her thighs look much whiter than the actual arm and so like that’s throwing me off a little bit or it had just been like a full body kind of sleeve thing I don’t know I just feel like there could have been something done there as of right now I’m somewhat approving Rita Ora even though if you want to say it’s ugly I’m not going to tell you no have at it do your thing I don’t really mind but in this case one must somewhat approve next up we have Troy Savon and he is wearing Prada and I think the thing that’s funny about this look is like is it on theme except for the fact that it’s a Prada reference no but from the front you’re like oh he’s wearing a crop top over a blue shirt and a pair of pants like there’s nothing crazy to it the interesting part is when Troy Savon turned around you could see that this crop top vest fake waist coat thing is actually strapped almost like a harness in the back and there is this exposure of the shirt and it exposes the skin almost right down to like the butt crack this is a reference to a product collection I believe it’s fall 2008 and what people bring up is that Meme picture of the guy who looks like he’s business in the front and going to a dungeon in the back which I kind of love I think it’s funny I think it’s smart I think it’s intriguing again like anywhere else I’d be like Yay Garden Of Time theme no no no but I do love this look I think it’s really smart and funny and comical and like the fashion gires lived theme was and lastly we have Usher this one was crazy I do hate this as like a look I think it’s awful the black leather hat is so scary to me and people were like this is Darkwing Duck and I’m like I can’t disagree cuz it’s it’s wild floor length black cape I appreciate the attempt I appreciate the effort I appreciate us going for it but then Usher took the Darkwing Duck cosplay off and he’s wearing this Crystal black suit with melting red flow in his hand and also like on the suit and I don’t know how on theme we’re going to say that is there’s crystal and a flower I just feel like out of the Lexicon of Alexander McQueen we could have done something a little bit more interesting more intriguing something that could have I don’t know tapped into something a little darker than just this being like a bad look and being dark like it’s dark it’s dark because it’s so ghastly to look at not because there’s some like deeper emotional thing to say I hate this more than you know so that is the end of this part three video let’s talk about best and worst I guess let’s do worst I’m going to do all the men in boring suits Alexander Draymond Alexander scarg guard Ben plat Brook and Beckham Charlie hunam Usher is also quite unfortunate Nicholas galline there’s a lot there’s there’s too many to mention let’s talk about best cuz I think that might be a shorter easier list Jordan Roth I didn’t like even love it yet I loved the theme effort this one is rough I think I’m going to have to say Carrie Washington I’ll put Jeremy Strong in there oh LS Hamilton I thought was good interesting different in terms of like story I think that’s it so
