Frank Miller: American Genius – Exclusive Clip (2024)

[Music] back for when when I took the roning over to DC I was out to establish that Talent couldn’t move tal wasn’t even considered portable back then Ronin literally means masterless Samurai it was a position of Shame during the Shogun era when a lot of Samurai went out of work my rebellious nature in in my profession is I wanted to become a ronin in comics rather than being a loyal Samurai to a publisher when I left the the stable of Marvel Comics cuz they had really trained me to be their their boy when I left that I I naturally got fixated on on the image of the masterless Samurai and took that to the competition Ronin for me was absolute proof this is a this can be a terrific field to work in and this is a great time to do com I had a publisher give me um free reign creatively my my uh policy is when you do history you take from it exactly what’s really cool and really dramatic you make up an awful lot
